Veganism is not a diet. It’s a rejection of violence, not of calories.

Except the definition of a diet is not rejecting calories. Wikipedia: “In nutrition, diet is the sum of food consumed by a person or other organism.” Aka it is the group of food you choose to eat. My point has nothing to do with my stance on veganism, it is simply for you to understand that veganism is your diet, as is eating meat, being a vegetarian, or being a gluten free diet. None of those reject calories, they only reject certain foods.

It’s not about which person you tell about your depression, it’s about the person that sees you on one of your horrible days and comes back to you, not knowing whether the next time they’ll see you will be a good day or a bad day. It’s about the person that understands you can’t just snap out of it when you’re curled up in bed and tears just seem to flow without any prior warning. It’s the person that you can stand to touch you on a bad day, because their touch calms you down; because you trust them; because you know they came back to you every time. It’s about the person you allow in your space when you literally cannot function. It’s about the person who loves you beyond happy moments. 

It’s also the person I actually want on this journey with me.

This year of freelancing has been insane: mostly wonderful, sometimes incredibly complicated. One of the pleasant surprises is that I occasionally meet people whose work I follow online.
