Good evening to all,

I have abandoned ship here on tumblr and migrated to twitter. I graduated from college last year (may 2020) marking the end of my music time in an academic setting.

I went into college marching band hoping to meet many friends of varying interests but instead I was met with extremely...well...self centered music majors. I was ostracized doing what I love, which ultimately caused me to quit music forever and question everything about myself.

I've done a lot of soul searching and sought a lot of professional help. I struggle with ADHD and fall somewhere on the spectrum, it was extremely difficult going from a happy band fanily in high school to college kids who thought they were superior to you.

Moral of the story is, keep doing what you love. If your major isn't music but you want to keep doing it because it's what you love? You keep doing it. Surround yourself with like minded people but don't let it take over you.

Remember to stay true to yourself and don't give up.

Wow im 11k followers into this blog. Thanks for following me after all these years yall. I guess its time for a celebratory intro? The about page is really out of date. Sup yall. My name is Scout and Im a 20 year old geology major at a Texas University. I did marching band for 7 years before having to quit because the band director threatened to fail me if i missed a football game [i had an important geology trip that day too...] so i had to quit sadly. I draw a lot actually and if youre ever interested in my art my blog is connivingcat.tumblr.com and my insta is conniving.cat lol. Youve probably seen a handful of my comics floating around years past. Uhm...i really like reading manga. My favourite is One Punch Man and i just finished reading JJBA. So if u ever wanna talk anime or smth hit me up lol. Not much else to say. I still love my bass clarinet to death even though I dont play it much. So ig moral of my intro is its okay to still love playing music even if you dont want it to be your life career. Hell im fixing to be a geophysisist and have been all thru my time playing in the band/orchestra.

I need to memorize a lot of music in a short amount of time, any suggestions?

What i did was to play one measure at a time until i got it. Then i would play it with measure two until i got it down. Repeat that process until you have it down. Everyone is different, i have an attention issue so my way of memorizing maybe different than a way that suits you

for you band camp supply list, why specifically salty foods?

Salt foods because it helps you replace lost sodium! Your bodys salt content is lost in sweat and with salty foods you help replenish that so you dont run the risk of dehydrating quicker!

Most of them are probably really old like 2016, but thats because im a retired marching kid after doing almost 7 years.
