Hi, I’m D. I’m a dog that looks pretty wolfish. I like stuffies, puppies, blankets, and dark spaces. My favorite stuffie is a German shorthaired pointer named Hunter. I’m shy, so I might not interact much, but I still appreciate others. I’m also part of a system. I have very bad species dysphoria, so even blogging is hard because most dogs don’t blog. No DNI, just be polite and don’t put anything suggestive or 18+ on my posts. Please be nice, and enjoy your stay!

It's been a little while. I haven't really had much time at the front.

Sometimes I question my doghood. I've been forced into a human form, so I act human and do human things. Heck, I enjoy a lot of things that were made for humans, like blogging. So, if it acts like a human, looks like a human, and sometimes thinks like a human, is it a human? I don't think so though. A human wouldn't want to be recognized as a dog or be in a dog's body. It sucks feeling not dog enough, but there's others here that will see me for who I am, I just need to find them. In the meantime, I'll keep blogging, keep finding others like me on the internet, and keep going in general.

My headmate had an interesting conversation with my cousin the other day. They were talking about gender identity and that eventually led to xenogenders getting mentioned. Our cousin didn’t really understand and mocked those who feel inhuman.

My headmate said that he kind of gets it and used me as an example. He told him about how I’m a dog that was put in a human body with memories of being human that aren’t mine. That I feel really bad about not being in the correct body.

That led to a conversation about our system. Our cousin seemed to be very curious about us. He asked a lot of questions. My headmate never brought up the plural community, but just explained our experiences.

I’m so surprised at how he reacted with curiosity at my dogness rather that disgust and rejection. It gives me hope that other people might be curious rather than hateful.

My headmate and I are working on altering a hugs and cuddles labrador plush to look like my pup. We tried to dye it, but we used the wrong dye and it didn’t work. I wanted to replace the nose but we couldn’t find the replacement noses. We replaced the brown eyes for blue ones. It is currently unstuffed and unbrushed and looks rather pathetic.

Update on the plushie project. It’s been dyed correctly this time! Yay! I replaced the eyes again because the dye messed them up. I restuffed it, cropped the ears, and added some black points with sharpie. It doesn’t look exactly how I wanted, but this is the first time we’ve done something like this, so it’s to be expected.

On a less happy note, our sister wanted to dye her stuffed dog’s ears, and we let her. She didn’t leave it in long enough and she got a little bit of dye on its head, so now it has light purplish brown ears. She was devastated and started crying a bunch. I think it looks fine, it’s not even very purple, but I understand how it could feel bad.

Being with other dogs that I can communicate with is so nice. I wish I could do it in person, but I’ll take what I can get. Being able to connect on that level of understanding is something wonderful. I’m so grateful for the internet where beings like us can find each other so easily.

You know, an interesting tumblr transformation that's happened gradually, and which I've seen no one talk about: ask-culture has essentially dropped off to nothing.

By which I mean, asks used to be WAY more of the tumblr economy. They used to be more common to send, and receive, and see. They were integral to the collaborative, forum-like behavior of old tumblr communities, not even to speak on the HUGE number of ask-blogs that used to exist to only be interacted with in ask-form.

I'm not saying this in a vying-for-attention way but instead in an observational way: I used to get way way more asks in like 2015, even with a fraction of my follower count. I wonder if it's due to the homogenization of social media sites? There's a lot more of this divide between "content creator" and "consumer" instead of just a bunch of peer blogs who would talk to each other. "Asks" aren't really a thing on twitter, are they? And as I understand it, the closest thing to an "ask" on instagram or tiktok would be a creator screenshotting some comment and responding to it in a new reel or video or whatever those content mediums are. Are asks just too tumblr-specific? Is that aspect of the site culture dying out as more and more people converge to using all their social media sites in the same way?

it's probably from assholes making asks a minefield of trolling/harassment for years with no real blocking ability, which turned people off from allowing asks on their blogs so as a whole the site moved away from it

but now that we do have better blocking, we should try to revive it.

Hi! I’m back from the dark days where I was cut off from the majority of the internet.

I made a website! It’s another blog, so pretty similar to this.

There’s another dog in our head now. It calls itself Dog Two or just Two because it is the second dog in the system. Like me, it awaits someone to give it a real name.

It is a heavier spitz type dog, like an Akita. It has a tail curled over its back and silver and white fur.

It is assertive and no-nonsense. It speaks its mind directly and doesn’t beat around the bush or sugarcoat things. It is often frustrated or angry. Frustrated with our lack of autonomy, the people around us, and the systemic problems around us.

I wonder how it will adapt to life in our collective.

I had no idea people would relate to and enjoy my posts so much. I started this as a way to try and connect with the therian community and boy howdy did I connect. It’s really nice to know I’m not the only dog out there feeling and experiencing these things. So thank you for making me feel less alone.

The fur came today; time to work on my stuffie! I’m making a plush to look like a pup I might have should I have been born a dog. So far, the paper dummy I’m using for patterning looks like a horse, but I think I can fix it. I love plushies. I’m hoping this will be therapeutic for my anxiety and longing.

I love peanut butter. It makes me feel doggy. Apples and peanut butter is one of my favorite snacks. It makes me feel like I’m a good dog who got a special treat.

I hate seeing my reflection. It’s so so wrong. I see a human that isn’t me. He is called by a name that isn’t mine and everyone expects him to be someone that isn’t me. And yet, when I move he moves with me in the mirror. It’s so uncanny seeing someone who isn’t you in the mirror.

It looks so wrong to see myself in this body that isn’t mine. I see the flat face, the bare skin, the green eyes, the puff of curly dark brown hair, and the pink mouth, and I want to cry. I did cry the first time I saw my reflection.

I avoid any reflective surface. Black digital screens, mirrors, glass that’s reflecting a lot.

Even when I don’t see my reflection, I can still see my hands and body. That’s why I like being in darkness. I can’t see this body when it’s too dark.

I understand this feeling, and I bought a mirror crazy right? But what I'm going to do is paint my real face in the mirror so when I look into it what I know is what I'll see, and if you wanna see the results when I do it I'd be happy to let you know if it helps me :D

Look at this. So utterly joyful. No worries, just running with the pack with the grass under your paws and the sun on your back and the wind in your fur. I hope I have this one day.
