You know, something I really love about Saints Row series is that it fills this really strange niche of being a modern day open world game that takes place in a fictional setting, with its own history, lore and unique design.

Its a unique for the genre, where everyone else just remakes a real city in the game (and always Chicago, New York or Los Angeles).

I wish more open world games took this approach, where they actually take time to craft rich worlds with rich history instead of just going "This is Los Angeles but in a video game!"

stupid: shaundi keeps getting kidnapped bc she’s useless

enlightened: shaundi keeps getting caught because she’s always recklessly throwing herself into fights she can’t possibly win to prove to herself and others that she’s not useless, that she’s just as strong as the boss and gat and pierce, that she can handle herself and doesn’t need protecting—so that people will stop dying trying to keep her safe

shaundi develops this bullheaded attitude of “i can do this on my own” because she can’t bear the thought of yet another person dying for her, and is always charging off without thinking of the consequences and that’s why she keeps getting captured by stag
