In my headcanons, yes! I can’t imagine he’d want to keep his middle name after finding out it was in honor of the awful man who raised him. I think he wants to keep his connection to his bio parents while also recognizing who his family is now (similar to someone having their pre-marriage name as their middle name to acknowledge both sides of their life)

Had to go digging through my old sketchbooks. Genuinely thought these would never see the light of day.

For some reason I only drew them as pegasi. Ngl these look awful all around, the color palettes are terrible and the designs suck. (But a black lily for Jule's cutie mark is kinda neat) I may need to do a redraw just to redeem myself. (Ignore Katrina's hair being the wrong color, I really wanted her to have black hair as a kid)

ok so this might sound extremely random but I remember there being an episode that Rodney like hung a kid in a tree???? Like Connie walks out of Whits End and there’s a kid in a tree and Connie asks what happened and he said Rodney put him up there. 😭🥀 I have no idea if this actually happened or if it was actually Rodney.

I FOUND IT. I knew which scene this was referencing but couldn't remember which episode. It was bugging me a bunch and I couldn't drop it. I started looking through Rodney's episode synopsis but didn't have any luck. Started looking up key words on aio wiki like tree, bag, tie up, etc but didn't find anything. Finally I looked up bully and just started looking through the listed characters. This is from episode #224 Greater Love. The bully was actually a kid named Leonard, not Rodney, and he tied up PD Barnes in a burlap sack and hung him up in a tree in Tom Riley's orchard and was gonna hit him with a stick like a pinata. (Apparently I was right about it happening in the orchard) PD was rescued by Timmy Riley.

okay i feel it's worth noting all i know about ryan is from what ive read on aiowiki, the eight times i listened to kidsboro *checks notes* seven years ago and uh that one time i listened to king of my heart for the entirety of the ep and not just the scenes with katrina

For me it boils down to the hyper realistic shading and rendering paired with extreme cartoonish proportions. I don't mind either of them but paired is a bit unsettling which doesn't match the aesthetic of the actual show. Especially after Gary got his hands on digital art. His traditional stuff has most of the same complaints but he was never able to go as hard on the render to it's a bit less uncanny to me.

ok so I don’t what yall think but, Jay is rich right??

and I don’t mean this in a “he’s my favorite character I’m giving him the world” I mean this in a - realistically, he’s rich. Because we know the his dad is a scientist and his mom is a heart surgeon. Also, with the prep school the issue was Jay’s ideas didn’t line up; not money. And they have the finances to support his acting travels and aspirations along with his collections for his hyper fixations (Elvis & Captain Spiff). Side note he is an only child and his dad knows the collection obsession (the baseball card thing) Also adding that this is Midwest based. Which means any family with a lawyer or doctor is certainly rich.

It just occurred to me how ironic it is that Jay is always strapped for cash and borrowing money. Not only does he come from a rich family, but he also had a long running acting job

I lowkey am not enjoying this new era of Odyssey because truly think them converting Jules, Buck and Renee all in the span of like 2 albums was a mistake — like other than Morrie and Suzu, we don’t really have anyone left.

As far as I remember we still have Bridget as well. You can clearly see her arc is being set up and I'm glad they didn'ttry to shoe horn her into album 80. (Maybe the Eugene replacement? Idk he's only been in one episode but so far I'm disliking him. Not to say my opinion can't change, but currently I don't enjoy him and his obsession with business)

Jule's story felt ok to me but I feel Buck should have had at least a 3-4 parts minimum for his conversion if they really wanted it to happen at the same time as Jules and in Album 80 and not feel rushed. Him and Jules converting at the same time is plausible imo but his arc was just too rushed because they were trying to tie up so many arcs in too few albums. The story felt ok until Buck went to the batting cages and got hit with a baseball and now everything magically made sense and he saw the light? It felt so cheap. Renee's conversion on the other hand was way too rushed. I feel she had several albums before her story was ready unless you are gonna dedicate an entire album just for her.

Finally decided to throw my hat in the fanfiction ring and sat down and wrote the first chapter of my story about Eugene and Katrina having a baby. It’s not the best but it’s a decent first try. 

“After being told they would never have a baby they had grieved their lost opportunity but eventually had come to terms with their situation. They eventually adopted their son, Buck, and were content with their life in Odyssey. But when Katrina discovers she is pregnant, everything is turned on its head. How will her family react? What will this mean for the Meltsners?”

Eugene and Katrina rasing a baby headcanons

They don't do full Montessori, but Eugene did a lot of research and is into it.

Parenting books, pregnancy books, infant books, health books, too many books

Connie bought them way too many Baby's First Coding books, A Baby's Introduction to Astrophysics, ect gag books. Eugene didn't get it was a joke at first. Katrina explained it to him.

They don't spank. Whit gives them a hard time about that parent decision and doesn't really let it go. Basically, anytime the kid acts out Whit either makes a comment or makes a knowing face.

Whit isn't allowed to babysit. Those privileges go to Connie, Katrina's parents, and Bernard. Wooton and Penny can be emergency babysitters if need be, but Eugene is really concerned both their house and them as people are "too over stimulating for a growing mind"

Katrina's parents tried to hire them a full-time nanny but Katrina convinced them they had it handled.

Eugene is way too attached to his milestones chart. Katrina keeps fudging the dates to introduce new foods to the baby early because she's excited and Eugene keeps freaking out.

I am such an absolute sucker for Eugene and Katrina with a baby. Any headcanons about Buck with the baby? I always thought he'd be a great big brother.

its like practically canon confirmed the meltsners are more of a "sugar-free" "low calorie" "healthy alternative" sort of family but i would like to argue they have a shelf in their pantry stocked with instant ramen

im still thinking about this a few hours later so don't mind me hyperfocusing on ramen's place in the meltsner household. like

buck oliver, brand new to the meltsner house, finding the same brand he always picked up at gas stations back when he traveled highways with mr. skint, and feeling some sort of relief in a familiar taste of "home"

katrina meltsner needing something quick to eat in the ten minutes before driving out to one of those teacher conferences she always busies herself with

eugene meltsner needing something to eat while surrounding himself in his research about the hippocampus

katrina getting home late on a friday afternoon after a long day of teaching and wanting something to eat before hurrying to catch buck's football game at some high school towns away

buck, awake way too late at night, curled up on the couch eating ramen and watching tv while his parents are asleep across the hall

buck, crashing in his dad's lab to help analyze algae samples and bringing two packs of ramen with him because katrina's off in chicago and there's not much else around the house to eat

the meltsner family in baltimore, seated on unpacked boxes in their new apartment, eating ramen because it's quick, easy, and the only thing they've been able to find amidst their boxes of books, tech, and science equipment

i dont know why this is my hyperfixation of the day but it is XDXD

Katrina and Eugene were broke college students surviving off of whatever food they could afford. I just know every once in a blue moon they get a craving for kraft boxed mac and cheese, instant ramen, cheap pizza, etc. Do they feel terrible the next day? Probably. Are they gonna do it again next month? Also probably.

I would like to add Buck finding out how many times Eugene and Katrina have been kidnapped and being shocked and Katrina responding with: What? You thought you were the only one who's kidnapped me?

Then he finds out they were almost traded into slavery and it blows his mind.

Prisoners of Fear. When Yosef was intending to trade Eugene for Leonard and the only reason they didn't end up in slavery was because they found the escape tunnel and ran away before Hazeez returned to take them.

Buck would also be mind blown to find out that his parents spent months (years? How long were they gone?) on the run from both an evil company and also possibly the government.

Buck: My parents, who don't even run through stop signs, were on the run from an evil corporation?

Katrina: That murdered my father, yes.

Buck: Wha- Is there anything else I should know?

Eugene: Mr. Shanks was at least able to witness our marriage before he passed.

Katrina: Yes, I'm thankful Brandon was able to officiate our wedding on such short notice.

Buck: YOUR EX BOYFRIEND BRANDON?!?!
