I’m sorry I’m not posting here anymore. I’m still taking screenshots with the intention of posting them but then I never do. I’m trying but... I’m bored I guess? I want to watch the romance with Cassandra unfold but I’m at a point now where I’ll probably watch a video of it instead of actively playing for it. I think I rather want to write about the romance than play it.
I also have this feeling as if the only interesting story is one with Solas because I already know who he is and that is such great setup for conflict and tension. Maybe I should start a Lavellan playthrough and romance him for the extra special angst and heartbreak.

We start out exploring the coast and the caves around, searching for supplies and experience.
We have a question though:
Who left their cheese and wine here? Was it the dragon killing monster?
One thing I really like to do is looking at the artifacts in the environment. You can tell that this was once a great country.
We find a glowing ball in a cave and it zapps us!
That glowing lady is Cassandra by the way, the light of her wisdom and strength guiding us in the dark.
It’s a relief to see blue lyrium.

Let’s skip ahead for a bit because we spent and embarrassing long time out here in the Hinterlands to find cotton. We need jut one more piece to give the Requisitions officer something to do and for the life of me, I cannot find it. It’s still missing.
So after a long time of wandering, running from bears and seeing way more of the sad life the farmers live here in the Hinterlands, we return to Haven and decide to follow Fiona’s invitation to the mages in Redcliffe. We are putting high hopes in the mages because that hole in the sky is clearly magic and we need help with that.
On our way to Redcliffe...

Redcliffe looks not quite so impressive but I really like this decorative painting on the wall.

Now that explains it. A Tevinter magister, Alexius, has taken control of the mages. How did this happen? How did he get here without anybody knowing about it? What do we have spies for?
And Fiona has not called us here? This is getting stranger and stranger. The Felix faints and gives us a secret message...
We spent some time talking to the people of Redcliffe, it’s really interesting how different some of them see the mage rebellion. Some wanted freedom, some were just tagging along, some want the Circles back. But all of them hate the Tevinter magisters. One mage said that they sacrifice children and eat them. Ok, dude, I think that goes a bit too far.
Anyway, we go to the Chantry, as the note has asked us to and --

This is a pretty place, yes, but Kaaras feels very out of place here. Everything is so elegant and fragile.
This is also the first time that someone is not happy to see him. This throws Kaaras for a loop because he isn’t even sure himself about this Herald of Andraste thing and doesn’t quite know how he could convince people who don’t believe it at all.
Yes, we love Cassandra but she really isn’t much help here.

We meet Fiona. Now I know that she’s supposed to be Alistair’s mother and a veteran of the mage rebellion but she looks so young!

With Vivienne recruited, we return to Haven to talk to people.
You’re right Commander and we appreciate the efforts but we kind of fail to see what templars and ex-templars can do about that hole in the sky. I don’t think it will be impressed by your swords.
Kaaras isn’t a mage but he is a strong believer in freedom. He is going to ask the free mages for help next.
Varric manages a spy network, runs around with the inquisition and still manages to write his books! Tell me your secret, Varric, how do you do it?
I also tried out the crafting and once again, I hate crafting.
You see, Kaaras is wearing medium armor, I crafted these arm guards for medium armor and I still can’t put them on him. So now I feel like I wasted all these resources for nothing and should have used them somewhere else and it’s making me anxious that I did this wrong. I hate crafting.
What an interesting offer by an interesting guy. After all this rejection in Orlais, it’s nice to meet someone who is actually interested in working with us.

Oh Bull is great! This is so funny to him, that a qunari leads the inquisition.
Look, The Iron Bull isn’t even that tall! I love how he casually refers to blood magic, finally someone who doesn’t get their panties in a twist at the mere mention of blood magic.
Now we are trying to finish a bunch of quests to make life a bit better in the Hinterlands and find resources for the Inquisition. We meet a lot of grateful people in the Hinterlands, which makes me think that shit has been bad here for a long, long time. These people are so grateful that finally someone is doing something for them.
We still haven’t fought a dragon yet though.

I looked up how the romance works with Cassandra and I don’t think Kaaras can do it. You have to side with the templars? Kaaras has not much of an opinion on the Circles and mages, even though he strongly believes in personal freedom. But the rift in the sky is clearly magic, using mages to fight it only makes sense!
Looks like it won’t work out between our warrior lady and my little romantic. He tried flirting with Vivienne too, he definitly has a thing for strong women. She called him charming! I’m sad that he can’t romance her, wouldn’t it be great? This giant hunk of a seemingly uneducated qunari, who is actually an artist and Vivienne could teach him so much!

You can actually flirt with Cullen as a male Adaar? And he acts all flustered afterwards, it’s so cute! No wonder there’s so many stories and art about bisexual Cullen, this man is not straight at all!
Kaaras still fells very weird being called the Herald of Andraste.
But he plays along for now because he knows how important morale is for the people and the success of this endeavor. He still looks fabulous. But I had to put him in this ridiculous outfit that leaves most of his chest bare because it had the best armor stats.
Now, the Hinterlands are interesting but a bit lengthy. But I know we are not supposed to stay there a long time so I’ll return to Haven soon. But first! A mystical dungeon.

Back outside again. In this picture you can see that Solas has been punished with the ugliest hat and the most ridiculous outfit for being creepy and evasive.

After endless running and getting lost all the time, we now have a horse!
