Addy blushed. “My lips are sealed sugar.”
“Um does laying in bed count? Salty/sweet. You gotta have both! I cannot roll my tongue. My mother called me her little Petunia when I was, well, my whole life actually. My gramps called me peanut.” Addy fired back with a ggrin. “I love the snow. I love it. We don’t have it back home and gosh I love it.” She giggled. “Yes!”
“Aw, come on!” Fallen nudged Addy’s arm. “I’m a sucker for gossip. The stuff I hear around here sucks- I don’t even know half the people involved. Some girl in my history class told me something the other day and acted like I was supposed to be as shocked as her. I didn’t even know who she was talking about.” She had meant to make a joke, and she did, but the truth in her words had caught her off guard. She was pretty sure that letting Addy know she had zero other friends here wasn’t a smart idea. In the worst case scenario, Addy could think she was being clingy and cut ties all together. Worst case, but still...
“You definitely make your own rules.” Fallen laughed, letting her hand fall on Addy’s thigh. “Oh my god, I am most definitely calling you Peanut. Will you do it in his voice? please?” Fallen laughed again, jumping up and putting her arms out to calm the other girl. “Woah, sugar.” Fallen winked at her word play. “If we’re going to go out there, we’re going to prepare, first.”
About fifteen minutes and eight layers later, they were outside. Fallen refused to let Addy become one of those stupid frostbitten drunk girls and had gone as far as to force one of her beanies onto the other girl’s head. Fallen began to play in the snow immediately, crouching to sink her mittened hand into a fresh snow bank. She crunched it, grinning widely, and brought a handful back to Adelaide. “Thirsty? Its pure. And alcohol needs water.” Fallen smiled up at the sky. “It must have just started while we were inside together. Look, there are no other foot prints out here but ours.”
