The Queen Receives || OPEN RP
”Cannot or will not? You know little of fear. We may be different, but Odin and I do share the same blood, you know.”
Cul paced before the queen, his eyes casting down at Odin’s form occasionally, knowing that even in his slumber the “king” could hear their voices.
"Do you truly wish to see him suffer here, Frigga? Delay your spells and keep him at bay until Hela comes to take his remains? Naturally, I approve, but you will face others who will not be so willing to accept fate.”
"On the contrary, I believe you will find that the acceptance of Fate is one of the very few universal qualities among the warriors of Asgard."
The queen watched him pace, the dry color of her tone offering tint and shade to her posture as well. The feud between these brothers was certainly nothing new to her - not after countless centuries of marriage to Odin - and seeing as her husband was still new to his sleep, the questions he raised would not become problems for at least a thousand years - if they became problems at all.
She could, therefore, afford to indulge him a little - Cul had always possessed the ability to make her laugh. Such rare qualities deserved some reward.
"What is your purpose here, Borson? Truly."
"Told you there were still some mortal women with spirit."
Nevermind that she seemed to address that remark to the empty air.
"Tell me, my dear, have you ever considered a career as a Valkyrie?"
Wasn’t every day Carol met strange women who talked to think air and asked if she had considered a career as a winged creature from mythology.
“Uh, no, can’t say that I have. Been a little focused on more realistic things——like going to space.”
"To space?"
It was so amusing to encounter mortals without belief. There was something so satisfying about crushing the tiny walls they'd built around themselves and seeing them emerge into the wider world.
"Is that truly the extent of your dreams, young one?"
The Ties that Bind || Thyra & the Queen
There were so few places of peace left in the universe.
On Asgard it was too quiet, the vaulted palace rooms had once held so much life and laughter; now there were only ghosts. On Midgard it was too noisy, too loud; the cacophony was deafening, empty sound without weight or beauty or meaning. Alfheimr was lonely; Vanaheimr had too many memories. Everything was so empty.
This was what it meant to live so long that everything around you crumbles to dust.
On those days she had to be on Midgard, however, there was one small place in which she often sought sanctuary. Tucked away in a little building near the park was the barn that housed the horses ridden by the mortals’ mounted police. And one could travel from star to star across the galaxy; stables were stables were stables.
She could feel faint echoes of her daughter - and her granddaughter - here; it was from Seeing her that the Queen had first learned of this place. But those traces were faint and far away. No one in her family had been here for months. Persephone was still trapped in writing her own history… there was no one to disturb her here.
So she passed the time moving slowly from stall to stall, making friends with each occupant in the patient, quiet way of someone intimately familiar with the words of horsefolk. Their warmth, the earthy smell, the gentle affection of herd-bound herbivores… It was a balm for a raw and weary spirit in an otherwise painful world.
So absorbed in that small moment of peace, Frigga did not feel the approaching aura until it was very nearly on top of her. It was… familiar, but different. Not wrong necessarily, just… different. That was enough to narrow down the list of suspects to exactly two - and one of those was far too young to have come this way alone.
"I did not expect to see you here, my dear.”
Thyra had not meant to step into the stables. Horses were not her favorite animals. Pretty from a distance, but dangerous at both ends and tricky in the middle. Terje was the one who enjoyed the large grazers. She had just been passing by, spending and odd day in the city away from her brother and the strange hustle that always seemed to surround the circus, even if she’d been putting up flyers and information as she wandered. Anywhere she thought their target audience might frequent.
It was nice to be even vaguely useful.
The aura she had felt in the stable is what had drawn her in, bag slung over her shoulder and wrapped in her favorite burgundy sweater. There was something familiar about it, even if she had no recollection of why exactly.
The voice stops her short, and honey eyes are wide as the woman speaks, breath freezing in her chest.
"Do… Do I know you?" Since it was clear that the older woman at least had some idea who she was.
"No."
It was such a simple, soft-spoken answer, delivered without harshness or malice. Humans never spoke in such terms - not in Frigga's experience, anyway. Everything had to be questioned, everything had to be qualified in some way or other. They were like children who never grew up, never quite figured out how to make those intuitive leaps for themselves - the whole planet.
"And even if you do, you do not."
But this girl was only partially human, only tied to this world - this plane - with bits of blood and thread. The rest of her was bright, too bright and beautiful to be anything from this dim and smoky planet. That was... promising.
"Has the Ringmaster finally decided to move on again?"
She did not believe he had - nor that he would ever, so long as those few people he had tied himself to remained nearby - but it was the... polite way to initiate conversation. The Queen might have been many unsavory things, but she never forgot her manners.
#BETTER THAN YOU MORTALS
Shades of Cool - Friday
Frigga Fjorgynsdottir had once been the biggest name in the business. But nobody knows that; everybody knows Friday. They all only know Friday. Once the managing executive for Xerxes Records - the biggest name in just about any industry - she had spent so many years selling garbage to a world full of idiots that she'd lost all faith in the industry as well as her... species. So when one of the thousands of 'hopefuls' that crossed her desk every week happened to catch her attention, it was a noteworthy occasion. This wasn't just another earworm; it was art. It captured the imagination and stirred emotion in a way she'd thought was left only to film scores. But for some reason - one she still doesn't fully understand - the label's owner was simply not interested in pursuing this investment. Furious that her authority had been undermined and determined not to let this group slip her fingers, Friday resigned from Xerxes and spent the next nine months guiding the fledgling band through the treacherous waters of a music industry all too eager to eat them alive. She's not 'warm'. She's not 'nice'. She's not 'fun'. She's the lioness in their corner and that's enough.

I’ve given this advice twice, but now I’mma put it out there for everyone to see cause I see a lot of the people I follow struggle with doing their drafts.
Drafts should never
feel like work
stress you out
make you want to procrastinate
upset you in any way other than the feelsy way
make you dread someone replying
If they do
just let them sit there
archive them with xkit
throw them in a folder on your browser
drop some
go on a semi-hiatus/full hiatus
because really drafts should
leave you super excited for the next reply
come easily if the mood is right
give you a much needed break from work/school/life
give you the best/worst feels ever
and remember
this is a hobby
none of us are getting paid for it
it’s okay to be self-centered and worry exclusively about yourself
just don’t be a dick to others
but seriously, put anything you need to above replies
and if anyone tells you otherwise
end them
but really just tell them it isn’t going to work like that
and if they don’t back off, drop them
because you are all great and deserve to be happy
and if anyone is fucking with that
seriously— end them
i know how to hide bodies
