are we all lost stars?
Nothing. Not a single word. Not a single sound. Silence. All she could hear was nothing, if it was even possible to hear nothing to begin with; so.. would nothing be something? Was she hearing something, despite there being nothing? If so, what was she really hearing? Could it be the sound of defeat? Could it be the sound of her defeat, or Malfoyâs defeat, or.. both? He could have killed her by now, but he didnât. She could have said something to defy his order, but she didnât. No matter what Hermione felt in the atmosphere, she could quite figure it out. For what felt like forever, she stood there with her eyes fixed on him, trying to make out what his next move might be. He was capable of putting a stop to her life. He had many chances to give a simple wave of the wand, mutter a curse under his breath, and she would no longer be alive. It was what he wanted, wasnât it? Malfoy wanted to see the end of all Mudbloods in the Wizarding World.. right? She wouldnât be breathing. She wouldnât be a waste of oxygen. The world would be a better place if her kind wasnât around.. or so she assumed he thought. His silence soon had her assuming otherwise. Why wasnât he saying anything? Why wasnât he cursing her? Why wasnât he doing anything at all? He didnât move, other than to look up at her, but not a single sound escaped from him. It was making Hermione even more furious than before, and now she was puzzled with what her next move should be. She figured that maybe she could ask him once again about his intentions, but she couldnât get herself to say anything. But before she knew it, Hermione could feel herself heading over towards him in a cautious way before she slumped up against the wall beside him, keeping some distance. She didnât know what she was doing, but she decided to let her body take over her thoughts. If he was going to kill her, at least she made it easier for him by closing the gap just a bit, but she didnât want to die; at least not here, of all places, of all scenarios she could get herself in. She bit down on her lip, now waiting to see what he had to say, or do, about her bold move.
Granger's movements forced Draco to be at least somewhat attentive to the world around him.  Watching her stand up instilled a sense of dread -- was she itching for a physical fight?  Did she still think there might be a way out of this?  Did she still have hope?
It would be best for Draco if Granger would resolve to curl up in a ball and die all on her own, but he had no such luck. Â Instead, she took the liberty of moving closer and closer towards him. Â Draco's muscles tensed and he instinctively grabbed his wand in his pocket, not yet having the resolve to pull it out all the way.
But Granger really didn't seem to be up to anything sinister at all, unless you counted her strange decision to take up a similar position against the wall and the floor next to him.
He wondered if this was Granger's way of trying to sympathize with him, of course for the purposes of saving her own skin.  But he didn't want her sympathy. Maybe she was trying to make him feel guilty... It was just like Gryffindors to constantly be shoving their own superior morality in everyone's faces.  Even on the verge of death, Granger wouldn't give up her morals and that drove Draco more insane than anything else.  He remember Dumbledore, the old man so convinced of his own righteousness that he would continue to preach until his moment of death.
He wouldn't stand for it. Â He was in charge and he wasn't going to let Granger dictate the rules.
He stood up unexpectedly, wheeling around to face her, wand brandished.
"What do you think you're doing?" he snarled, puncturing the long silence.
(I AM SCREAMING)
(( semi-hiatus ))
( so finals are coming up for me in the next few weeks. as such, i will need to spend most of my time working on endless papers. i will still be replying to everyone, but i will probably be more selective than usual and a bit slower as well. ))
"Oh, what woman doesnât admire a man who can hold his wine?â She spoke with sarcasm before swallowing the contents of the glass. Pansy shook her head, still disliking the burning sensation as the liquid flowed down her esophagus. It was displeasing but the end result was satisfying. "Hopefully, things will be looking up before we know it." With a flick of her wand, the bottle hovered above the glasses to refill to their needs "Maybe it will by the time we finish the bottle."     Though silence filled the air of the Common Room it left the two to evaluate their surroundings and what was going on within their own lives and between them as a whole. And although now wasnât the time to shed light on their own personal matters, the liquor silenced the nagging thoughts that brought sensations akin to insecurities and self doubt. Such negativity that flowed from his presence, a large difference from when the two first started off. "Are you going home for the holiday or will I be able to enjoy your company this once?"
Though Draco quite disliked the taste of alcohol, he'd learned long ago to pretend to enjoy it and to keep his face blank of any displeasure.  He often wondering if anyone truly enjoyed the sensation of drinking liquor straight, or if they were all just so inclined to pretend.
The thought was oddly depressing, so Draco didn't dwell on it.
"I've got to go home, Pansy," he said, knowing that she'd react negatively to his words. Â But, for once, he was telling the truth. He had a lot of planning to do and he needed to pick up some items that were too dangerous to be sent by owl. Â But he certainly couldn't risk telling Pansy about any of that.
And he thought they were supposed to be drinking to forget.
"My Mother need my assistance with some... things."
[Text; PaleWonder] What did you do to her this time?
[Text: PaleWonder] You didn't shag some other lass, did you? [Text: PaleWonder] And I'm not annoying enough for you to find someone else to text. [Text: PaleWonder] Or would you rather me leave you to your Gryffindors?
text (theo): No. Nothing like that.
text (theo): I actually sort of broke it off with her. I think. I'm not sure.
text (theo): You're just less annoying than everyone else I know, which isn't saying much. Â

In 1963, in the wake of the atrocities of the Holocaust, Stanley Milgram set out to test the hypothesis that there was something special about the German people that had allowed them to participate in genocide. Under the pretense of an experiment into human learning, Milgram asked normal members of the public to ask questions to a man attached to an electric-shock generator and shock him in increasing measure when he answered incorrectly. The man was an actor, the shocks fake; but the participants didnât know this. The terrifying part? People overwhelmingly obeyed the commands of the experimenter, even when the man screamed in apparent agony and begged for mercy. A little evil in all of us, perhaps?

[ Text : PaleWonder ] Oi, that's what makes me the better friend though, yeah?
[ Text : PaleWonder ] You can bounce ideas off me and actually get an answer, not just grunts and nasty chewing sounds. [ Text : PaleWonder ] Pansy will get her knickers in a twist over anything, you know that. [ Text : PaleWonder ] She'll forgive you as soon as you throw some charm her way. Always does.
text (theo): More like the more annoying friend. Who said I need anyone to bounce ideas off of?Â
text (theo): Maybe. I think it's different this time.Â
are we all lost stars?
Shut up. Shut up?! How.. rude! Hermione opened her mouth as if to stand up for herself.. but no words escaped her. She couldnât say anything, not even a single word. She wanted to tell him to shove off, that it wasnât right for him to tell her not to speak, but she couldnât get herself to let any sound echo around the empty pub. She stayed there standing in her spot, her eyes fixed on the blonde, watching him as he cupped his hands to the top of his head. Hermione had never seen him like this before, as if he was at war with himself. She knew the feeling all too well because she was at war with herself, too. Or, she could be wrong to assume that he was at war with himself; maybe he was building up the anger to lash out on her or something. It was hard to read him, especially when other thoughts occupied her mind â such as trying to protect herself from whatever move he was about to make. Just as he backed up towards the wall, Hermione braced herself. She began to wonder if he was preparing to strike a curse on her, or to harm her in any way, but instead he slumped down against the surface behind him without another word. Was he showing off defeat? Or, was something truly wrong with him? Hermione wasnât going to find out. He wanted her to shut up; so, should she dare to speak? Should she dare find a reason to let him kill her? Although.. he had no right or reason to kill her, in her opinion. âFine. If heâs going to stay there and say nothing, then.. I might as well do the same,' she thought to herself, coming to this conclusion. Instead of taking a step towards him, Hermione took a few steps back until she reached the wall behind her. She figured that she would just observe him from a distance, try to figure him out, ponder how to save herself, with her arms crossed against her chest â silent. It was what he wanted, right? Silence? Hermione refrained from saying a word.
Draco, a master of plotting and scheming, currently had no sense of direction. Â He had no 'next step'. Â There was no continuing on with whatever had happened. Â There was only his own weakness and the silence around him.Â
Silence was a good friend, if not a deceiving one.
The magical scars on his side burned, as they always did when he being a coward. Â He wasn't sure if the Dark Lord was aware of his particular side effect of his punishment, but it really made no difference. Â He'd be found out soon enough anyways, unless he gathered the impossible courage to do what he'd never been able to do before.
He wasn't sure how much time had passed when he finally opened his eyes. Â Granger, surprisingly, had taken heed to his words, probably fearing that he would still exterminate her any moment now. Â She was the only one he knew to take his threats seriously. Â And she was a fool for that.
He watched her for a moment, wondering what it was like to have her clear conscious, her permanent sense of direction that never failed.  It must have been so easy to follow such a strong resolve.  Her thoughts always produced corresponding actions. Â
His head shook slightly, almost imperceptibly.Â
And still, there were no words. Â What was there to say?
And Harry realized, with a shock so huge it seemed to root him to the spot, that Malfoy was crying â actually crying â tears streaming down his pale face into the grimy basin.
I have this headcanon that Moody actually escaped once during the Goblet of Fire and was all like, âIâm going to find Dumbledore and then Iâm going to murder Crouch!â but then he saw a student hex an unarmed student and he said, âBut first, Iâm turning this punk into a ferret.â and then Crouch managed to capture him a few moments later.
Because that scene does seem exactly like what the real Moody would do.
âI know Iâm not a conventional beauty. You can read a lot of painful things on the Internet, which criticise you aesthetically - but as far as Iâm concerned, thatâs not what an actress isâ.
slytherinxprefect:
"Draco â did you set this up?"
Of course he hadn't-- but she didn't really need to know that.
He shrugged instead, offering her his best coy smile.
[ Text : PaleWonder ] What is good enough for you to be spending your time spying? Has Potter finally come out of the closet with Weasley, then?
[Text : PaleWonder ] Iâm sure if you leaked that information Pansy would forgive you in a heartbeat. [Text : PaleWonder ] I donât know what you even see in Crabbe and Goyle, theyâre monstrous and, quite honestly, a bit disgusting. [ Text : PaleWonder ] I could put the Drought of Living Death in a cupcake and theyâd still eat it as though it were Halloween Candy.
text (theo): Can't tell you, yet. Â I'll let you know about the final product. Â
text (theo): And Pansy's not going to forgive me anytime soon. Â
text (theo): They are monstrous and disgusting.
text (theo):Â And they do whatever I tell them to do. Â It's great, I don't have to deal with explaining things to them. Unlike someone else I know...
[Text: PaleWonder] Youâve only been texting your mother?
[Text: PaleWonder] What kind of Slytherin are you, lad? [Text: PaleWonder] Why are you near Gryffindors anyway? Theyâre boring
text (theo): Well, yes.
text (theo): It's not like Crabbe and Goyle have much to say, besides food emojis. And Pansy's angry with me.
text (theo): And I'm spying....
