Hi! I’m GrubDog! I’m just a guy who enjoys pikmin a lot! Thus I have a corner of the internet dedicated to screaming about it! I post original art here occasionally, but I primarily focus on pikmin stuff here!
Old blog is @your-local-grubdog, moved so I could change what my main blog was.
“Carrd” except its a neocities site
I have a list of other sites I use here. I also share some other stuff there, such as writings, a collection of cool sites I’ve found, and some web shrines! It’s best viewed on desktop, as some parts look a little odd on mobile, but it functions on both just fine.

uk user here! for the IDs it only applies for posts marked as mature. still sucks but I hope that clarifies what to expect if the ID verification happens elsewhere. definitely made me use Tumblr a lot less (I mainly just reblog art every now and again) and focus on other sites tho
i see... I can say for a fact rn so many posts get mislabeled as mature, either because of bigotry or just the system being glitchy. So I probably would use Tumblr less/not at all if it went global.
There has been talk of Tumblr being the next social media to require Gov. ID across the board. Idk how true it is, or to what degree it'll apply (ie, will you need ID for entire site? Just anything they mark as mature?) but if it does come to fruition then do expect me to disappear from here and focus on my website, Dreamwidth, and Pillowfort.

Summary: They were the rescue corps. They could save anyone, anywhere in the universe, regardless of the danger. Just as they've done for 98 generations prior.
Shepherd could lead her team through this newly discovered planet, existing at the edge of the universe and which follows its own rules. She could lead them through its unique dangers and horrors. She could lead them back together and save every stranded castaway on the planet.
She could. She had no other choice. They all just wanted to come home.

In which Shepherd tries out Dandori battle. Tries. She tries. And absolutely no leaflings say anything suspicious nope nadda none at ALL.
God Tumblr is so fucking temperamental about sometimes letting posts with external links be shared to communities and sometimes NOT letting them be shared and it genuinely pisses me off. And makes the creation of my previous post all the more justified LMAO.
Grub's Call for Pikmin Fandom to Try Smaller Social Media
Here's the rundown! Tumblr as a site is no stranger to making really bad choices that hurt the user-base. Customizable blogs are no longer the default. Allowing AI to scrape your blog is the default. There's an algorithm now where there wasn't one before, meaning you are encouraged to Please the Machine just to get your stuff seen (BIG problem for little fandoms like Pikmin!!!) Reblog chains were broken in a questionable manner in the middle of me making this. Most features are broken. The rules were completely upended in 2018. The CEO is casually transphobic on site. I could go on and on.
Tumblr is marginally better than some of the alternatives (which have their own whole list of problems) but it still isn't good. And only getting worse. That's part of why you rarely see me here anymore, unless I'm screaming into the void about a fic update lol. Which, because everyone uses the "for you page" now, those rarely get seen unless I share them to the community.
SO I'm making a call for Pikmin fans in particular to try out two sites I love dearly. I'll give the rundown of each, but I think you guys should check out both. And for both, please feel free to reach out to me about questions and the like! Public comments are preferred just so others with the same question can see them, but DMs are totally fine too if needed.
Pillowfort
Pillowfort started as a Tumblr clone but has since become its own thing. It's built around blogs and reblogs much like Tumblr is, plus it was designed ground-up with communities in mind. So that feature is integrated a fair bit nicer. It's not a total 1:1 to Tumblr, but if you can use Tumblr you can generally use Pillowfort!
There's basic controls that you'd expect too, like being able to turn of reblogs on certain posts.
I'd recommend checking out this post and this post which go over site culture stuff B)
There is a Pikmin community on Pillowfort, however the mod has gone inactive. I'm not interested in modding a Pikmin community here, so I encourage you guys to take up the mantle and make a new one!
Dreamwidth
Dreamwidth is an older style site, so its design may be more archaic and hard to use for some people. However, I think it's 100% worth it. Everything is ultimately revolved around the communities, and the lack of reblogs and like buttons means you have to leave comments and have some semblance of a discussion to say you like something. This is a good thing!
It also lets you fine-tune who can and can't see each one of your posts. So if you want to make one post that's just for your friends, while the rest of your Journal is public? You can do that pretty easily. It's very nice.
Dreamwidth also doubles as an RSS reader! This means you can use it to follow Tumblr blogs even if you stop visiting Tumblr entirely. So it's a pretty convenient choice in that regard, as all the people you want to follow will still be in one spot B) To find a Tumblr RSS feed, just look up [username].tumblr.com/rss — even if they don't have a custom theme (which is what usually allows people to have that style of URL) it should work! It won't be as polished—reblogs can get funky on RSS—but it works.
Once again, going to recommend this post and this community to help you out with Dreamwidth. Latest Posts is also a good starting point to just sniff the place out. I'm also going to suggest DW Advocacy because that's where they record all current efforts to fight bad internet bills B)
Only actual downside: image/media hosting is expensive. It's a big reason why most social media turn to venture capital and sucking up user data and all that BS, so they can keep buying more servers to keep storing a never-ending flow of uploaded stuff. Like, the "space" for that isn't endless. So Dreamwidth image hosting is... A little weird, and you may find yourself using external hosts like Filegarden or Squidgeworld if you want to post a lot of pictures/GIFs/etc. That or pay to expand your built-in 500MB personal storage (which is not a lot, trust me). But people get by with this system just fine.
Ending off here, there is a Pikmin community on Dreamwidth! I run it! You can find it at Pikmin Park!
---
And that's it for my pitch. Tumblr is only going to get worse, Twitter is already a trash heap, BlueSky has shown signs of trouble... I do think these two, with their donation based funding, are at least good places to check out! And the more people that leave larger social media for smaller, the bigger the message we send together :)

I'M BACK HIIIIIIII sorry for just like. Vanishing lmao. Anyways uhhh new fic chapter time B) Fic has new warning tags so if you're a returning reader please check those.
Yes, on-the-fly math sometimes happens. And yes, a good chunk of piloting is just following checklists. Taking off? Checklist. Landing? Checklist. Weird light? There's a checklist somewhere in that book. Which, to be fair, have you seen an airplane cockpit? Ain't no one memorizing all that.
writing is so funny because i could write nonstop for 9hrs and then hit a block where im like "how do i transition between this moment and the next?" and then i just dont touch it for 6 months
And posted only two days after the actual holiday B) I'll count that as a win.
My ability to draw for cringetober was all over the place thanks to having to job hunt and shit, but I did get it all done and I'm damn happy about that >:D
Bluey is genuinely the cutest thing ever and I love watching it with my friends. In attempting to make it watchable for the parents who would inevitably have to sit through the show, they made it appealing to a wider audience, and that is wonderful.
Also Bluey would have a field day with the pikmin. Just imagine an entire episode about like, learning about them. And why they take your garbage... and toys.
