I just wanted to do a little doodle comic of That Part™ in Dreamers Ignite Chapter 15 because I’m the kind of loser who laughs at her own jokes.
Anyway, Mulan isn’t getting paid enough for this.

DREAMERS IGNITE, 15: Draw It Back
After an incredibly long hiatus, we are back!
On ff.net and AO3.
I'm writing an unofficial expansion to your works, with a Small World Doll as the main character. I know what you would say. IMHO, you did a poor job, if at all, with characterizing the dolls, even though the idea of them being a robot army was a lot better than most other people would picture them. I only want to tell the story from the dolls' side. Please allow me to give you credit where it's due in my expansion.
Okay, so
First of all, I am very busy irl at the moment, so it’s been difficult to work on/answer/do anything online recently that takes more than about 2 minutes to think about. I’m not online all that frequently within the last year or two, and especially not on this blog due to the story being on a temp, if long, hiatus.
The answer to “can I work on a fic about the IaSW dolls?” is go right ahead! I physically can’t stop you. Frankly, if you had sent me the second message first (“Is it okay if I expand the Small World Doll's side in my own fanfic of your fanfic?”) I would have said absolutely! Go for it! Send me the link when you’ve posted it because honestly that sounds really interesting.
But you didn’t do that.
Instead I come into my inbox to see somebody negging on my fic while asking if they can expand upon it. “IMHO, you did a poor job, if at all, with characterizing the dolls, even though the idea of them being a robot army was a lot better than most other people would picture them.” Would you have sent that message or something along those lines to any other creator? If so, please reconsider. It is invasive and incredibly rude. I’ve made fics before that explore aspects I thought other creators were overlooking, but I would never have sent them messages saying as much.
Going on, you later said, “What do you have against them? Why didn't you let them speak? Why is their world not shown?” So, first off, anybody who actually knows me knows that IaSW is one of my all-time favorite attractions. I rewrote whole sections of my outline in order to incorporate them into THP. And to answer your question about why they got “sidelined”:
The story isn’t about them.
The story is about Cinderella.
She is the POV character and the plot’s arc revolves around her own personal growth. Her character arc ties directly into the main plot. Any ideas or concepts that didn’t support that had to be severely trimmed down because that’s how stories work. The finished draft of THP online is 96k words approximately. That is Published Book length. If I had gone with more POVs, more storylines, more backstory, etc, it would have inflated that number an unwieldy amount. I would never have finished. The concepts I cut from the story, some of which I plan to use later, were done for the sake of actually making THP a manageable project. And it was! It’s got that shiny “complete” sticker everywhere it’s posted. All because I focused on what I needed to for the project.
The dolls didn’t fit into that plan as more than they ended up being. If they had, I might have done something else with them. Because, again, I love the dolls.
It took me a while to respond to this because I didn’t know how to respond. Everyone else who has asked to expand on the universe in their own way has gotten an immediate yes go ahead because they’ve asked nicely. They haven’t ragged on my decisions for THP when doing so.
I’m not being paid to do any of this. I work on fics because I enjoy doing so, but I don’t owe anyone any of my time, effort, attention, or answers because I really do have better things to do with my time.
TL;DR: Sending a rude message to begin with made it hard to respond, and continuing to badger only made it worse. Please stop.
How does Charming feel about Jack now that he and Ella are an item?👀
I feel like he doesn’t necessarily like him all that much, but it’s not really Charming’s problem so it doesn’t matter all that much as far as he’s concerned ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
DREAMERS IGNITE, 14: Ladies First
Traveling back to the Main Park, Merida attends her first of the Princesses’ outings at an unusual location.
On ff.net and AO3.
An (Incomplete) List of Mentors/Mentees in DLR
Since I get a ton of questions about this, this is a (mostly) complete list of who mentored whom in Disneyland. A few notes about this list:
Characters who were mentored are noted underneath the name of their mentor, and any characters they mentored in turn are listed below them
This list does not contain any characters who either did not mentor characters (such as Minnie Mouse or the Blue Fairy), or both were not mentored and did not mentor any others (such as Buzz Lightyear or Jack Sparrow)
Attractions post-Walt, for the most part, operate on a communal mentoring system, and only a few instances are listed
Pixar generally uses the same system. Most of the characters from this studio are, as such, unlisted
This list is dated to Summer 2012, with the Brave characters as the most recent listed. Any subsequent films are not included here due to potential spoilers
Characters from Walt’s era (none of whom were mentored) are bolded
Forgotten characters are crossed out
Italics denotes either an unmentored character, or an unofficial mentorship (one unrecognized by the Disneyland Council, therefore making said character “technically” unmentored)
The current list of mentors and mentees present in DLR is as follows (beneath the cut):
DREAMERS IGNITE, 13: The High Road
A favor offered out of kindness to some other newcomers turns tense as the division lines between Disney and Pixar rear their heads once more.
On ff.net and AO3.
So I've been doing some serious behind the scenes work on Ariel, and I know she definitely taught herself sign language (along with literally everyone else close to her) as soon as she found out ASL was a thing.
She would never ever risk being unable to communicate like that again.
“So, I’m just going to ask you this one question: what are you willing to give up to find yourself?“
I can’t believe it’s been two years today since I finished writing The Happiest Place. I’ve had the idea for this gifset in my head for a long time, and this seemed like as good an excuse as any to actually make it.
DREAMERS IGNITE, 12: This Prison We Share
After Merida’s plans for the day with Ariel become complicated, Kenai steps in with an alternative suggestion.
On ff.net and AO3.
There were indeed worse things. Far worse. The gnawing, hollow ache that had been trapped in her chest. The feeling of listless drifting in the dark. If this of all things was to be her anchor, then so be it.
So it’s been exactly two years since chapter 31 got posted, and I decided to return to the original Hellship™ and that scene because nothing gets a ship back together like a nearly getting killed by an axe-happy ghost bride.
I feel like the DL Council's slogan should be, "Well, we tried."
Yeah, that is definitely it.
Haunted Mansion Chandeliers
Do Villains have the same mentor-mentee system like the Heroes?
I honestly think they draw lots to see who gets stuck babysitting the new person for the ten minutes they can stand to put up with them.
In THP when Goofy pulled out several keys and among them is a piano key, is that a reference from the Mickey, Donald & Goofy short "Locksmiths"?
(Sorry my answer is so late. Whoops.)
It was indeed a reference to the short!
One of the greatest things about this series is that while you have the main story that's upfront and center, this world that is created sets up that there are tons of other stories that are going on with other various characters in all corners of the parks, both at DLR and at the other Disney Parks that we don't see. The sheer size of this universe that you have created is both highly impressive and awe inspiring.
Thank you. I think what I like most about playing with this universe is that you could take basically any character, from any Park in the world, and tell a story about them because there is something to tell. What we’re seeing in the trilogy is just the tiniest fraction of what’s happening, and only to Disneyland. Frankly, the trilogy itself is more about the story of the Resort from 2011-2013 than it is to any one of the characters. The three girls I picked as the POV characters were just the ones whose personal stories ran concurrent with DL’s for the most and the longest.
