You’re in a car with a beautiful boy, and he won’t tell you that he loves you, but he loves you. And you feel like you’ve done something terrible, like robbed a liquor store, or swallowed pills, or shoveled yourself a grave in the dirt, and you’re tired. You’re in a car with a beautiful boy, and you’re trying not to tell him that you love him, and you’re trying to choke down the feeling, and you’re trembling, but he reaches over and he touches you, like a prayer for which no words exist, and you feel your heart taking root in your body, like you’ve discovered something you didn’t even have a name for. Richard Siken
TW: This fic is set in a military hospital in a warzone. One scene takes place in the OR, but there are no graphic details.
Summary:
Captain Anthony 'Snake-eyes' Crowley is the best surgeon in the 4077th.
Lieutenant Aziraphale Fell is the unit's first male nurse.
You see where this is going.
Excerpt:
Captain Anthony Crowley was bored. Cosmically, transcendentally bored. So bored that even drinking his boredom away had become boring. And hazardous to his health.
He lay on his bunk, staring up at the canvas ceiling, boredom and guilt twisting and roiling in his stomach.
Boredom was good. Boredom meant there were no young men being torn apart for him to stitch back up, no villagers finding unexploded bombs in their fields in the worst possible way. It meant a temporary outbreak of peace in the area, and Crowley was all for peace.

Ah, my very first meta for The Vampire Lestat... nervous and excited, but there is one scene from the last season that just will not let me be.
The fight between Louis and Lestat in the car is an absolute masterpiece in several different ways… first of all, just absolute Emmy worthy acting from Sam and Jacob. But it’s also such a good look at trauma and our reactions to it.
I’ve seen quite a few people commenting on this scene, saying that Lestat is being such a drama queen… shouting, gasping, throwing up... and while my most dangerous little cinnamon roll is in fact a huge drama queen, I don’t think that’s what was happening here. So! Join me as I take a deeper look at exactly what is occurring during this scene.
We start with Lestat and Louis in the car. From Lestat’s POV, everything is amazing. Louis is here! They’re getting along, and Louis is going to spend some time with him. It’s everything he wants. And then, Louis says, “We need to cancel.” Out of nowhere. One minute everything is great, the next, it’s all crumbling apart. And Lestat doesn’t know why. It’s a huge blow, and then Louis shows Lestat the video.
The very first thing he does is go into damage control. “It’s a deep fake, it’s not real.” Anything to get Louis to stop, to put it away, to keep him from looking at him like that. Because Louis is saying all the things that Lestat believes, deep inside.
I think that at his very core, Lestat knows that his relationship with Gabriella is wrong. It’s all the things that Louis is saying it is in the car and then later on the street. When he’s in the heat of the moment, when Gabriella is right there, he can convince himself that he’s in control this time. That he’s taking back his power from when she abused him when they were mortal. Now the tables are turned. He’s the master, she’s the fledgeling, and he’s choosing to continue this cycle with her.
He’s lying to himself. And he’s very good at it.
But when he’s confronted with the video, not in a moment of passion, with Gabriella not present, he’s forced to confront the reality of what it actually is. Gabriella is still manipulating him. He isn’t the one in control. And not only does he have to accept what it is now, but also the abuse that he suffered at her hands back in his mortal years. Stuff he’s been lying to himself and pushing down for literal centuries. All those old feelings he had when he was human and she was his mother who was supposed to be protecting him and instead was doing these awful things to him hit him all at once… actually watching the video, seeing them together, is very hard to dissociate from. And not only that, but even worse, now Louis knows.
Louis, whose opinion means more to him than anyone in the world. And Louis is saying all the things that Lestat has been thinking about himself, though he tries to hide it. And the disgust and the self-loathing and the SHAME of someone else seeing are what causes him to throw up. Not just because he’s being dramatic, or trying to distract Louis, but because he is suddenly, acutely aware of the depravity of what he’s a part of, and having the ONE person who’s opinion matters to him seeing it and saying “You are disgusting for this.” Disgust that Lestat most likely feels, and hopes to hide from everyone else.
The moment that you have to confront what has been done to you, abuse from a parent or someone that you trust, especially if it was ongoing for a long time which Gabriella's abuse of Lestat is, is a hard one. It’s already unbearable, even if you’re alone with your therapist in a safe space. Instead of that safe space to come to terms with it, Lestat has only moments to digest the turn of events before he has Louis casting the same judgement on him that he already feels.
And it continues out into the street. Lestat throws up, Louis gets out. Lestat follows him, and the old swagger is back, hide it, get through it… “You’re being judgey… it’s a complicated set of circumstances…” he’s grasping at anything that he can to keep from having to confront those feelings that are bubbling up uncontrollably, right up until Louis accuses him of being just like Armand and Lestat is tossed right into a panic attack because he can’t hold it all in anymore.
It's just... so well done. So well written, so well acted. And it will stay with me.

Anthony Crowley has known London longer than London has known him. Every cut-through, cab rank, one-way system, theatre crowd, and hidden churchyard.
That’s the point of the Knowledge: the grueling, multi-part test every London black cab driver has to pass, thousands of streets and landmarks learned so thoroughly the city lives inside one’s head.
Crowley passed it years ago.
But when he falls for Aziraphale Fell, a soft-spoken, waistcoat-wearing examiner he has absolutely no excuse to ever encounter, Crowley does the only reasonable thing — he digs out his old birth certificate, registers under a name he hasn’t used in years, and signs up to fail the Knowledge on purpose.
Just one Appearance, he tells himself. Answer well, withdraw gracefully, ask the man out, done in twenty minutes.
Naturally, it doesn’t go that way.
Excerpt from Chapter 1, Points of Interest:
He had survived by being quick, mostly. Quick hands. Quick mouth. Quick feet. He washed dishes, shifted boxes, ran errands, slept on floors, lifted wallets when he was starving, and, for a short and educational period of his life, nicked cars.
He had been good at that too.
He had never liked the cars themselves. That was what people got wrong. They thought joyriding was about speed or danger or wanting something expensive because you’d never had anything that shone. But Crowley had liked the going. The escape. The way the city opened under the tyres, street after street, as though London were not a place at all but a puzzle box with all its little hinges waiting to be found.
Then, at nineteen, someone had shoved a parcel into his hands outside a print shop in Soho and said, “Can you get this to Clerkenwell in twenty minutes?”
Crowley had said, “Fifteen.”
That had been the beginning of everything.

Happy birthday to our lovely @spacegiraffetoo ! Here's a little treat for you!
This story takes place between two of the drabbles in my "O Night Divine" series that Raff asked for so very nicely so here we are!
Title: A New & Glorious Morn
Rating: E
Word Count: 2768
Summary:
Aziraphale and Lucifer experiment with boundaries, roles, and trust as they spend a spicy evening together.
Excerpt:
“You are being a very naughty angel,” Lucifer growled, his voice rough and heavy with lust. He tested the bonds around his wrists, but there was no give. He could feel the bruises forming as he yanked at them until a sharp swat to his hip landed with a loud crack.
“Behave, darling,” Aziraphale said, wriggling his hips and making Lucifer moan with need.
“You are testing me,” the demon snapped. “Testing the limits of my control and my patience before I simply snap these bonds and take what I want.”
“No.”
“No?”
“These bonds are stronger than they seem.” Aziraphale leaned over him, his eyes flashing blue as he rested his hands on Lucifer’s wrists. The Morningstar gasped as holy light flowed into the ropes, strengthening them against demonic influence.
Huge thanks for @kneelbeforeyourdogbabylon for beta reading!
As evening falls in velvet, warm and slow,
and candlelight turns all the bookshop gold,
as loosened hair like embers freely flows
beneath an angel's gentle hand, controlled,
“You've done so well,” he murmurs, low and sure—
a benediction breathed against the dark—
“Now rest, my love, there's naught else to endure,”
so shoulders tremble as words find their mark.
No war to win, no summons at the door,
no ancient fear to drag these two apart;
just tea gone cold, and clothes upon the floor,
and one soft voice undoing one proud heart.
And there we leave them to the life they've sown—
each one, at last, both knower and the known.
The Crowley/Aziraphale/Edward II threesome you didn't know you needed.
For the lovely @the-ineffable-dance
Rating: E
Summary: Aziraphale is in the court of Edward II when a familiar face arrives.
He's turned down the king's advances until now.
But this time, the offer is more difficult to refuse.
Excerpt:
The king was bored.
This was not a hugely unusual occurrence; Edward II was not the most politically engaged of monarchs. He preferred his diversions of music and art to serious work, and while Aziraphale could certainly sympathise with the king's point of view, it did make his own job rather more difficult.
He was supposed to be encouraging His Grace towards the light. But while Edward needed little encouragement to attend services, and his faith seemed not to waver, his behaviour outside of the Palace chapel still left something to be desired.
It had been hoped—by Aziraphale as well as most of the court—that with his…friend Piers Gaveston away in Ireland, Edward might have settled down to the serious business of ruling. But instead, the king was restless. Fractious. His wife, Isabella, was still a child, and while he had entertained several mistresses, he had quickly grown bored with them all.
And so, over the last few weeks, Edward's attention had landed on Aziraphale.
