You keep being the old self and doing things according to it. But suddenly something happens and it changes everything. Someone says something or does something and you realise that you just need to let go of that earlier self. You have to stop letting that past self control your present life.
This change can seem sudden but only when we actually make the effort of letting some habits go we realise that it wasn't abrupt. It was gradual and everything was happening naturally.
Even when you think you can't be the newer version of yourself, you are actually being it. You think you are not able to put away a certain behavior or move on from a past situation, but you are actually doing it.
Just by thinking of letting go and moving on, you are actually gathering up the courage to do it even if it doesn't look like that externally. Only the realization somewhere in the back of our minds is enough and when the time is actually right, you will have the courage to take that jump and be your totally new self.
One thing to be taken care of while on this journey is to constantly analyse and ask yourself questions. If you can see the signs externally which suggest you to transform yourself, you will get that much needed closure way before and that will help you immensely.
