people complaining over a stripe standing among other things for SELF-LOVE are ridiculous. it's a flag for the COMMUNITY, surely you can recognize that self-love is a quality that asexual people are already discouraged from having by the rest of the society and should be allowed to have a place. surely it's much cooler than an "allies" stripe! and since when is every single stripe in a pride flag supposed to be personally relatable to every single member of the community?! the commonly used ace flag isn't doing that, the commonly used aro flag literally also has a stripe for non-romantic love, the commonly used aroace flag also has a stripe for love and relationships.

i get hating it when change gets introduced into your environment, but that's like, the same force that motivated toddler me to refuse transitioning from potty to toilet for a while and i even had a feeling i wasn't supposed to resist back then, you are all hopefully more in control of yourselves than that. you don't even need to actually change anything about yourself here! just don't make your hatred of new ideas other people's problem, for fuck's sake

and regarding the colors - who cares about the exact hues. flags are made to be made with fabric or pencils or whatever other materials you have on hand, you're not meant to always colorpick the exact same ones. black - grey - white - yellow - pink - purple is enough, you can use whatever hues look good or are available to you, and you have thousands of options on a digital screen.

It’s not really a secret third thing anymore with how often it’s brought to reference. There IS a term for it. QPRs are very underutilized in media AND fandom and while the phrasing was fun for a while it’s kind of crazy how much people will say “secret third thing” instead of QPR. There’s a lot of unexplored nuance with QPRs and I think a lot of the “secret third thing” relationships fit it a lot
