(Richard) I think those jobs that involve with communications are my favorite, for example, the salesman, that can really talk to people and learn, and help myself to be a brave person when being in front of people. I choose Economics as my major in college.
1. I am interested in learning how the world and the society works, so i am very enjoying taking the economic classes, also I read lots of articles from different perspectives, I want to form a ability that I can analyze the world and the people arounds me.
2. I hope that I can work in a growing company after I graduate, that can really help me build the skills I need for company development, which is critical for attending the better company.
3. The development opportunity and the content I can learn from it are the two consideration for my career, I don’t want to just stuck in a job position or moving slowly, also learning can also make me a better person in life when living with my family and friends.
4. For now, I think I should keep track on the news and articles, keep forming my sense of business. Review for the exam and finishing assignments is what ensure my academic resume. Setting a rule for my life can keep me in the correct track of working toward my dream life. Making friends, it can help my academic, I can get advices or help from them, for the future, this network can save me time and increase my productivity.

1. There are a lot of things I interested in such as swimming, jogging, reading a book, watching movie and so on. But the most interesting thing for me is traveling. I like to travel to different country, and I find that there are various culture exit in different places. I always believe that one word is: reading books is not as good as travel. When I travel, I can experience the different culture and life style of each country. Of course, the different scenery and the different climate of each country will also give me different travel experience, so that I know more about the inner nature of each country. I think reading books when I travel can help me remember the important things, because all the experiences are my own.
2. I think the work I always enjoy is reading assignment. Even though the language barrier is a big problem for me, I can improve my English and better understand the content of the class through finishing those reading assignments. Writing the paper, preparing the speech, reviewing the exam and so on these tasks are more difficult for me because I cannot gain a good grade on those things, and also I always fail to meet the requirements given by the professor, which makes me gradually afraid to complete them. However, reading assignments can make me feel relax and give me more details to understand the content of course. So I really enjoy doing reading assignments.
3. I think the direction of my future work is mainly determined by what I have been pursuing. My dream is my motivation and direction to choose my own job. The things I like is very important for me to choose my future direction. What’s more, I always consider the new things I can learn from my work.
4. The first step is keep reading English book everyday because this can help me enhance my English ability in order to have a successfully academic life in university in future. The second step is writing plan every week. This step is really helpful because there will be exams in the coming weeks, and revision will be a big part of the homework. So having a schedule every week will be very helpful for my review. Also this behavior can also help me decline the times of procrastination during reviewing and can enhance my study efficiency. I can use the strategies I learned in CLS105. The third step is to summarize the questions in each subject each week, and then go to the professor to answer the questions in each week in order to do everything in order. The fourth step is take clearly note in different class and summary the note after class.

When I first came into college I decided to come in undeclared so that I could experience a wide range of classes and see what I liked and found interesting. After my first semester and mid-second semester, I was really liking my Psychology and Forensic Science course. Once I told this to my academic advisor, she told me she thought it would be a good idea for me to declare my major as Psychology with a minor in Forensic Science. I am really open to the opportunities I could take with this major.
1. I find that I am most interested in crime scene investigating and I have even considered being a detective.
2. I enjoy doing labs within my CHE 113 class. I love that it is hands on and that I am able to put a visual with what we are learning.
3. I think my main motivation for career options is being so excited to get out there and get my hands dirty. I’m motivated to solve crimes and to help give justice when needed.
4. Step one: I need to attend an IUT meeting on Tuesday the 16th to be able to switch from Falk into Arts and Sciences. Step two: Give everything I have left to end with a good GPA. Step Three: Thoughtfully enroll into classes that work toward getting my degree. Step Four: Stay focused and healthy these last few weeks.
(Madison) The three tasks I finished for post 4 are: Meditation, a day at a time, and the stress-o-meter. I actually loved each of these stress management strategies, meditation being my favorite shown by my huge smile after trying it! I found that all were effective for me when reducing stress! I have started integrating these into my every day routine and absolutely LOVE them. So I plan to use these long term, I mean, who wouldn’t?
Although I highly encourage these to be used for students of all ages, I encourage everyone to find something that works for them and suits their stress. Personally the stress-o-meter did not do as much for me as the meditation. But the day at a time strategy was effective because it reminded me to keep life simple! I mean after all, it’s not the load that breaks you down, it’s simply the way to carry it. And by taking life one day at a time with a little meditation, life is great!!

My fitter finder was helpful because it helped me manage my time and understanding what I needed to get done and the time I needed to do it in.

My fritter finder was very helpful for me in terms of visually seeing the amount of down time I have and allowing me to see where there are open gaps. I plan to integrate more study time into Friday since I do not have classes. I also am very fond of the Pomodoro Technique and plan to implement it more often. My main motivations to get through the rest of the semester are that we are almost done and that I really only have 1 exam and a few assignments left in classes. I am looking at it in terms of how much I have completed, not how much more I have to go. One thing I am doing to stay positive is giving myself a little more me-time and not stressing over things I cannot control. I went and treated myself to ice cream, etc.
This is my Fritter Finder, it gives a very clear overview of my time managements, I found that every Monday to Friday I have a 3:20PM - 5:00PM free time, which is approximately one hour, so I decided to implement the Pomodoro Method on Wednesday, let’s see how it goes.
I use the first and second portion for the ENL 211 essay, they are due next monday, seems a lot but not hard, just give a simple outline for the essay, and base on that write a structure, I also added some content in the draft. I did not add everything I want to add, but still, I finished that two 25 min work! The Third portion was review the PSC 478 key terms, that was not a lot, so I finish early. The last portion was the ACC 201 excel, I called my partner and we finish it together, we just had a little over time, but generally it was a successful experiment.
I actually use the Pomodoro on Sunday again, the Third portion is finish this Tumblr post, I can always have my time control!
Ruonan Wang,
First, I completed my Fritter Finder Template by filling with time of my social activities, sleeping time, and studying (class) time. Then I found a gap between two classes to allow me having enough time to finish the “Pomodoro Method”. So I chose Thursday 1pm-3pm to use this strategy. In first 25min, I finished my ECN203 assignment#4 and took break for 5min to go to bathroom to wash my face. The second 25min, I completed my first part reading of chapter 12 of CFS388′s text book and took break for 5 min to buy a bottle of water in order to refresh my mind, and then I came to another study cycling. I really like this method because it really can make me focus on my homework for 25min without tired. Under this situation, my study efficiency has be enhanced, and I can have more time to do my own things.
What’s more, I also develop some motivation strategy to help me study efficiency. I always ask myself what things I want to do and what thing I don’t like to finish in order to find out the correct ways to motivate myself. First, I always set rewards for myself. When I finish some prescribed tasks, I will reward myself to do something that I like to do, such as watching movie, reading book, going to restaurant with my friends and so on, to motivate me to finish my daily tasks quickly and without delay. There is no deny that, my study efficiency has been enhanced because I want to finish quickly in order to do the things I want. Second I will list my tasks I need to do everyday, and I will elide each task when I finish doing it. DUE DAY sometimes is also an important motivation for me.😃
I really afraid to do my paper and presentation in different courses because in doing these things, I always have no train of thought and cannot find out the point I want to write in my paper and the content I want to talk about in presentation. It’s hard for me to gain a good grade on these two tasks. Under this situation, I always have procrastination on doing those tasks due to my avoidance behaviors. Thus, I find out some ways to help me improve those negative behavior. Like paper I always like to find the professor to help me revise my essay, or I can also go to writing center to help me solve the essay’s problems. How about presentation? I always like to discuss with my classmates to find out my train of thought about my own presentation. I hope those methods can help my change my avoidance behaviors on paper and presentation to a positive way.
(Drew Tuazama) Last week these were my objectives and assignment I needed to get done. My biggest thing on this list was my EAR HW. That’s because it’s a big part of my grade. It was an assignment given before spring break but for some reason I forgot about it until we got back, it was 4 chapter. To complete the way I got it done was to take a nap and stay up all night until it was completed my stress level on this assignment was fairly high because of the importance of this assignment and the time I had to do it in.
A day at a time was a day I really took the time to rest my mind and body from the week. Sunday is my only free day I have so doing what I need to do to recover from the week. That is just as important as doing what I need to to get ready for the week. Being a student athlete is hard mentally and physically taking the time to medicat and stretch was a good way to recover both my mind and my body.
(Richard) These are the 3 tasks that I finished for the week. A day at a time, Stress Meter and Focused meditation.
For this week, stress level was changing every day, but the majority of the stress comes from the ECN mid-term exam, I can easily find stress reducers, which helped me to be calm and optimal. It is nice to have a view on the weekly stress level, I can see how I finished my work and easily find the best reducer for the future stress.
A day at a time was finished on Sunday, I set 4 tasks for myself, maybe because it is Sunday, I did not finished the Reading! Well, hope I can read for the next week! This tool is similar to the goal setting for the class, but more specified, this is helpful for planning a meaningful day.
I tried to meditate, and I wrote down the feeling I get after it, I think the reason that i do not feel the difference is because this is just the first time, and I did not have a comparison, but I will definitely keep trying meditation, at least it calm down myself and have a better mindset.
Music is always the best stress reducer for me, whoever faces stress, especially before exams or finishing big assignments, the first advice I will give is, stop for a while, listen to some soft music and look outside, I believe that being optimal is the key of reducing stress, or even the key of being successful in college.
Ruonan Wang,
In my life, there are different kind of stress that appear in my life, and I felt hard to find out a way to reduce those stress. But now there are three ways that make me feel I can solve my problems by using these strategies. Just like the group’s theme said that there aren't many burdens in life that weigh you down, and the only ones that do are the ones you don't know how to handle.
The first one is “Stress-O-Meter”. This strategy help me clearly understand the level of my stress. And this strategy help me know the things I need to do in order to reduce the heavy stress, and also can help me know that my stress level has been reduced because of step-by-step to finish the task during a period of time. I try to use this strategy to improve my English level ( language barrier). I felt good and get some progress on my language improvement.
The second strategy is “Focused Meditation”. I always use this before heavy study or nervous exam. This method can help me release myself in front of heavy stress. This method can also effectively empty their own mind, so that they rearrange the train of thought.
The third strategy is “ A Day At A Time”, this strategies help me tease out the sources of my stress, and let me know the things I need to do in order to manage my life. This strategy help me find out the point I need to focus on. I used this strategies to successfully finish my reading assignments. What’s more, I used this strategy to solve three main stressors by trying to deal with them again and again. I felt really happy when I deal with a problem.
I believed that after long period of time, those method of stress management can help me reduce my stress. I really appreciate to recommend to my roommates, she also like it very much. She used the “stress-o-meter” strategy which can make her learn more about the state of mind of herself in order to solve the academic stress like reading sources of ANT121, ENL211, PSY205 and so on. Thus, she will know how to solve those problems. She also LOVE it! I will try it again.
