Jesse looked at the tin for a moment before taking it and opening it, seeing the treats inside made his heart swell up.

“Mama-“ He choked out as his happiness welled up into tears in his eyes and he tore a couple pieces off the fry bread, handing a piece to her.

“Smells like y’didn’t change a thing… are- are those the- the churros I would always bug you t’buy?” He laughed, looking at the wrapped sweets. He sniffled a couple times and wiped his eyes. When he was a kid she wouldn’t ever really let him have the stupid things. They were a special treat when his dad was around. Not that he remembered much of his father as it was. This was the only thing that was tied to his paternal side in his mind.

“Fuck- I- I don’t got nothin’ f’r you, mama.” He laughed, feeling guilty as he looked over the sweets and nibbles on what he’d torn free. It tasted just like home. Like the best parts of his childhood.

“H-how ‘bout I take you out?” His voice is still thick with tears as he wiped them off his cheeks and eyes. “Special dinner jus’ f’r you an’me.”

“Quit lookin’t me like that. C’mon let’s just eat somethin’ and do normal things, f’r once.” Not that Jesse is entirely familiar with what regular family activities are, having grown up in a very not-normal family dynnamic.

He scoffs just a little bit, and turns to him with a small sigh.

“I see you have some skill. My bad for underestimating you, I suppose.” He hums, and picks up another arrow.

“Still, you could use practice on your accuracy. So… not bad. But could be better.” He can’t help but be critical of the other. It was his perfectionist nature that kept him criticizing every detail.

Jesse gives Hanzo a deadpan expression before bringing the bow back up closer to his face to adjust the sights as he needs them. “Nah y’r sights’re just fuckered up.” He snorts beofre taking the arrow and resetting, drawing back the tension and loosing it again with a breath.

The arrow rings true at dead center and Jesse turns to look at the archer with a raised brow, as if to ask ‘You were saying?’. “Now, I hope y’don’t mind my takin’ libertie with y’r bow. Only fair that I get t’shoot with th’sights at my advantage, huh?”

He rolls his eyes, before using both his hands to rub his face. “Fine, fine. But please, be careful with it. It’s not a toy.” Hanzo turns around to lift his bow from the desk and places an arrow on it.

“Do you even know how to use it properly?”

Jesse laughs as he takes up the bow with ease, holding the weapon as if he’d been born with it in his hands.

“Darlin, my ma taught me how t’use one o’these ‘fore even knew how t’walk.” An exaggeration, yes, but he is quite adept with a bow and arrow in his hands.

“Ain’t used one this fancy n a while but boy does it feel nice.” He raises the bow to aim down the gun range, locking his left arm up as his right draws tension on the string until the fletching is just about brushing his cheekbone. “Y’r sights’re fucked up.” He comments before loosing the arrow to strike in the third ring outside the bullseye in the target’s chest.

“Damn.”

“Hanzo, please! Please!” Jesse can’t help the childlike tone as he pouts at Hanzo, fully sticking his lip out and everything. He might be nearly forty years old but that won’t stop him from damn near begging like a dog to get what he wants.
