Whatever hand was empty, there is now a familiar letter in it sent from above.

It read:

Greetings, this is Brook again.

I hope I'm not interrupting anything, please reply when you have the time.

Anywho, have things been well over there?

I am doing ok myself, if you are wondering.

[Holly had been doing a little bit of work.

Up into the higher reaches of the City Storage had they ascended. Into dusty airs, stone, and dour colors and disuse (still) laying thick overtop everything, despite the more lively nature of the Tearless city now. Their goal? to see about what materials they readily have within claw's reach. What may be of use in the construction of the new city door and what bears requesting from the Twelfth Architect themself.

To this end, upon checking through a few rooms on their own and noting down the contents, Holly had eventually found themself sat before some sort of inventorying book. Out-of-date by several centuries, but perhaps good enough anyways given how scarce use this place has seen for the longest time. They sit in a chair far too small and a desk to match and overtop it, across from the very book they had taken to reading, lay instructions sent by the Twelfth Architect.

Without break. Without reprieve...

...until a rather familiar sensation ghosts their hand of shell. The barest impression. A tickle. Like a dream becoming solid.

Immediately does Holly pause in their work, gaze shifting almost expectantly down and finding with it, a letter. The identity of the sender is clear from that much. Confirmed in full once they read through it. The message itself is simple, but there's a bit of warmth to be had in seeing the effort made anyways.

This time, they are in a much better mood.

With hope, it will reflect in the exchange here.

They start writing a letter back. It reads as follows:]

[Brook.

Interrupting. Is there truly such a thing as... not doing this? Whether idling or not, something is always being done in a way. Is even the mere action of breathing not interruptible by definition after all?

I jest. Somewhat. What I say is true, but I hold no caustic intent.

I have been fine.

I have come into some troubling information, but nothing that I did not otherwise expect. It will be dealt with. In time.

I have managed to make progress on the Royal Waterways. Repairs and restoration they do still require, but the Fluke infestation within those tunnels have been thoroughly addressed.

Most recently, I also have rejected a]

[... propositioning.

They stop writing and their mind finishes the sentence for them. A frown crosses their countenance of Pale and they stare hard at the paper as though reconsidering it. The initial shock and embarrassment has long since worn off. But, they still wonder if they even should mention it. The topic isn't one for common conversation after all.

They straighten up and resume writing, mind made up and with it, a taking of effort to cross out what they had started writing.]

[Never mind the crossed out part. It is unimportant. Or rather... not the sort of information I should be so... blunt about, I do suppose.

Now, I sit within the City Storage at the very beginnings of my task to constructing a new door for the Tearless city. It will require much. In time, effort, and materials used. But, no less worth the while. Once completed... the door will be far better than it ever was before.
