[[ Hello all --I, like so many others, have ultimately decided to jump on the bandwagon of RP blogs and make one of my own (yet another THK RP blog I know I know but my brain is fixated on them so y'all are just going to have to deal with it!!!!!!! /j). I've RPed for a long time now but never in this format so this, if welcome, should be a fun sort of thing to try out.

Call me Peanut. Go wild with whatever pronouns you use for me; the more the merrier haha. But, for people that absolutely need something specific to go off of, they/them is fine.

I don't have a whole ton of rules. Mostly the usual basic stuff:

-This is a sideblog. My main is @pe4nutastic so any follows with come from there.

-THK is referred to by they/them pronouns, but they will also accept it/its pronouns.

-Be respectful and courteous to myself and anyone else that I interact with. It's okay to direct more negative interactions at the character, but they have their own threshold and once crossed, they may decline to further engage.

-IC doesn't equal OOC. IC stuff is strictly that. If I want to speak, I'll use [[]] to indicate that I'm the one speaking. If I have a problem with someone though, I'm more inclined to resolve things in private than make it a whole public thing. -'Doubles' (though really, it's more like I'm the double since I'm fairly late to the game haha) are 10000000% welcome. I love seeing other interpretations of characters, even if vastly different from my own. Stuff like that imo is the bread and butter of fandoms.

-I don't ship THK with anyone. Asks about ships in a lighthearted joking way are a-okay, but lbr they're just sorta coming to terms with being an actual person at all (as opposed to just being that thing meant to seal the Radiance) so romance isn't really on their radar haha.

I have checked up on the bugs within the Tearless city.

And it would seem that the supplies, of varying sorts, gathered prior to the increase in population still seem to be holding well. I may take a moment to gather more. Mainly in the ways of food. But as it stands now... there is time. Time which I would see put to use in implementing sustainable food production methods.

Or rather see to having someone more competent do this. I have read through the material labelled as being of interest by my father... but this does not make me an expert upon the matter. Merely informed.

I had hoped to inquire about having Hegemol Knight, given how he excels with the construction of various things, to see about it but it would seem that he is (likely) preoccupied; unreachable as a result. I will have to seek someone else out to take care of this.

Now. The Royal Waterways.

This is also something on which I had hoped to make progress. Mainly in the ways of repairs and rectifying the issue regarding an... overabundance of certain inhabitants. The very same that have resulted in complaints by bugs that would otherwise conduct more regular maintenance upon these waterways.

I think that this state of the waterways is an unintended one. One which would not be were it not for centuries of neglect. But, the life within it remains... life. Though the numbers have been cut down a little... I wonder if there is a better way? A way that assures the safety of bugs that work here without... going too far in this?

To discern this. Perhaps I require more information.

I wonder. Should I heed a suggestion made, in passing when my father was still... stuck upon the Surface, and try to reach out to that favoured knight of my father's...?

Maybe. I... think that he lives yet. My sibling fought him after all.

I shall see.

In the meantime... I could dive into the blue lake. Ascertain of what is (or isn't there) and pluck out what options there are in the ways of a more permanent solution to the matter of the city's leak. It remains stemmed by my plug of Soul, but it was never intended as an end point.

I should also reach out to the Twelfth Architect about a new door. The city remains without it, having been damaged by my father in his Lost form as it was, and bears replacing.

Too long. It has been too long. But at last... work may resume. The trip from Dirtmouth to the city is of little bother to one such as I. And so, there I shall reside in-between doing various tasks.

<Wandering around the tearless city would be a rather ragged moth. Her white cloak is tained with mud. Her blue wings are bruised but. She seems to be handling herself rather well. . . Until she is more closely inspected. Where its clear she is hiding her tears...>

<She doesnt seem to be lost but doesnt look to know where she is either...>

<She turns around and locks eyes with you. Being quite larger than her, the moth is initially very suprised and taken aback. Before realizing shes staring and then turns her head away.>

[A moth. Uncommon nowadays. Rare.

This alone is enough to catch their attention; a corner view quickly shifting to the full breadth of their vision as they turn their head. Holly then notes, rather acutely, the condition of the moth. Dirty clothing. Bruised wings. And small, shining, watery, and leaking things not easily seen at a passing glance; tears. At that something in them immediately stills, concern washing over them like ice suddenly touching more... fragile shells, and they move to close the distance a little.

They note that she seems to have been wandering around as though lost. If they had to guess, they would presume that she had just come off a rather... unfortunate turn of events. Ones which, despite carrying herself rather well, had evidently left her shaken.

When eyes meet, Holly notices the length of her staring none; finding the action to be rather inoffensive and returning the staring with some of their own as they (awkwardly) try to think of what to say. Exactly a minute of time is spent thinking of what to say before they reach out with mind-speak and briefly point to her wings.]

/ The color of your wings. They remind me a little of someone else that resides within the Tearless city. Another moth.

But. Injured… your wings are. Bruised.

...

I will not pry. I will not ask what transpired. But. If you would like, I could attempt to sooth your woes? Heal what has been hurt? /

[They hunch and lower themself a little so as to ease the strain (if any) had in having to look up at them.]

/ Maybe even see about removing the stains from your cloak... /

Aah... I see... So then I will wait till This Watcher is prepared for my presence.

<Turning around to see the fountain. She'd tilt her head towards the Vessel>

I think... That would be rather nice... <She'd smile before approaching the fountain. She looked to be rather enamored at the tree in its middle. Having not seen one so elegant.>

<She would situate herself to its side on a bench. Her arms and legs being sat together and her wings resting downward.>

<After both of them sat down... She'd be silent for a little bit. Not knowing if she wanted to speak. . . Before finally opening her mouth>

It's... Been a rather long while since ive set down to rest... <She would take a deep breath>

A... Couple Days... Or Weeks ago... A... V-very dear friend of m-mine... . . . H-he. . . Brought me. . . To a-a. . . Fi-field of flowers. . .

<She's shaking... As if what she wants to say is... Taboo...>

Uhhm... H-... H-e... S-stood before... M-me... T-took my-... A-arm... And... A-... And...

. . .

<Sniffle>

<She has begun to tear up... She wants to speak. She desperately wants to say something... But her entire being is preventing her from doing so... She seems to be incredibly anxious and stressed...>

[They do little more than follow the moth in silence.

To the short distance between the two and the fountain. And then, a moment's gaze they grant as well upon the willow tree at its centre. To examine their own handiwork. Vibrancy of life held well, despite its somewhat odd placement, and quick. It had grown rapidly, but without impeding, without damaging, without overstepping.

Grand and tall. Majestic. Serene. Enduring. And through it all, to Holly themself more personally, a twinge of (distant) kinship felt. An affinity for plants. A connection held to them even through darkness of Void.

It's their own heritage of Root. A likely source to the way it flourishes.

They eventually cease their examination, satisfied and perhaps taking a little pride in the things gleaned, before they neatly sit down. Unneeded for Holly themself, but done anyways so as to mitigate any awkwardness that may otherwise be imparted.

Then more silence on their part.

Hands awkwardly fidget with the ends of their cloak as they try to piece out what to say next... only to come to a grinding halt, a pause and a stiffening of fingers that dig into green fabric for a moment, when sounds of upset bubble forth.

The Knight looks towards her; concern hidden behind a veneer of impassiveness, a false face turned outwards and etched in pure white. A single thought, examined and reshaped a few times, echoes through their mind.

How to comfort… how to comfort…

The most immediate notion is to reach out.

But, they hesitate. As they always do.

Their hands are cold; mismatched silvery metal (their false arm) and true black shell, the latter of which being the coldest of the two.

And the moth… Lady Lunnatis, is a monarch.

A monarch they have no standing to touch. It is how they have always perceived such a thing with their father. Even now, the thought old and somewhat shed as it is still… persists.

But this time, with an effort, they push past it and offer a few awkward and feathery light pats over a shoulder.

There… there… was it?

They abruptly cease and draw back as another idea comes to mind, hand dipping into their cloak to retrieve a small bit of soft white cloth which they then extend out.]

Take whatever time you need. I do not entirely understand what has elapsed, but evidently… it has been much.

I come from the Dream Realm, and have somehow managed to step foot into the digital landscape, it's hard to explain the process of doing so.

Do not be alarmed, I have no ill intent in mind.

I'm a Vessel myself.

If I decide to come and visit you in the physical world, would that be fine?

My sibling really likes you, and I hope to follow in their path on meeting as many beings as I can, even if I can't stay outside of my home forever.

[Holly simply stares at the received message for a few (long) seconds. There’s a small flicker of genuine curiosity behind staunch impassiveness set in their countenance of Pale. They carefully consider the contents, piece together meanings (overt and those caught in-between), before slowly and deliberately typing back a response.]

[Holly]: Dream realm? How curious.

I did not know that any one of us even could be drawn to a place of light after perishing. I had always thought that, linger as we might above for a time, our Shades would eventually be drawn back to our birthplace. The Abyss. Or deeper yet, the sea of Void from which our shells are filled.

[Holly]: With some nuance… the likes of dream magic has a more difficult time properly working upon our likes here. Enough that dream nailing us will often not reveal our thoughts to others. It is simply… “too dark”, in a sense, for light that comparatively weak to achieve this.

I would wonder… I would ask… about the affinity held, but perhaps I should not pry. I would imagine that it is no simple matter. Perhaps even an unpleasant sort considering who the Dream realm’s goddess is.

[Holly]: Regarding your request. Yes. So long as intentions are of a peaceful sort, I would not deny a visit. Very few of my siblings I have known. I do not find the notion of knowing another, even if only a little, to be a disagreeable sort. And the world itself... ... I think that it is one worth experiencing. The effort to see is would be a worthwhile sort.

I am… honoured to have made so positive an impression upon your sibling. Perhaps I am improving at this sort of thing after all aha. Nonetheless, I thank you for the kind words given. For the regards. It may be some time before all is perfectly well anew, but I have faith that the day will come. It is only a matter of time. Time and patience held.

I see, it's good to know you are aware of Pane, have felt warmth too, and that you had been working on sleep before our conversation.

And I do not blame you on the small knowlage of dreams, it is a tricky subject in its own right, but I wish you luck on the efforts, successful or not.

Sorry for the short responses, I'm trying to be careful with my exposure to all of this now.

The responses stopped for a while, a few minutes that seemed worrying, but more of them do come forth afterwards.

You are correct on that, as I am still not "physical" in a literal sense.

The best way I can describe it is that it feels like transferring my consciousness and my body to a new area without actually "spawning" there.

It's a weird experience for sure.

After all of Brook's texts were read, whether Holly managed to send a last reply or not, the contact suddenly deleted itself, leaving no trace behind as if it never existed.

Given how the other was describing the side effects of their communication attempt, it was most likely unintentional.

[Like every other time prior, Holly takes the time to read through and (figuratively) digest the messages received. This time however, a pause and lingering comes at a more befuddling concept than an upsetting one.

A momentary tilt of their head to a side.

Short? In a way that could be construed as displeasing? The notion hadn’t even occurred to them. The purpose of communication is to convey certain information. Not to mimic the communication style of another or match length.

Or that is how they understand it at least.

For much of their life, that hadn’t even been a consideration directed towards them; expressly a “one way” street. Perhaps they are lacking the experience to tell otherwise. That social nuance that many gain through that which they lack.

They let the thought hang a moment, solemn and somewhat weighty, before reading the remainder of the message sent. The method described. How Brook communicates in this way is… both intriguing and a touch confusing to them.

Unnecessarily complicated.

When Heart of the Infection had abducted The Watcher several months ago… he had continued to be capable of sending messages and making the posts as usual. It is how Holly themself had sent a rather… angry correspondence to him over what he had done prior.

But maybe this differs for those of Brook’s nature; a thing of which they understand very little. A thing that they hope to come to understand more of when the two next speak.

The sudden deletion bothers them none. There was little else left to add. They simply take it in stride and press on with a different task of theirs.

[Droplets of water. Cold and crisp. A delicate pitter-patter set in a simple pattern. Pure and light. It's barely felt against their thick and sturdy Wyrm's shell... and yet felt (enough) it is.

A familiarity. A calm. A memory of soothing old aches; hot and bright.

And then, alarm abruptly cuts through it. Head snaps up to look at the Tearless city's "ceiling" overhead and senses reach out to... feel for the parts of the Soul "plug" more deeply.

Had the plug (somehow) failed...?

It shouldn't. They have a constant handle upon it. And to their knowledge, their grasp has never slipped. Not even in the slightest. A fact that is soon proven as they register the true source proper.

A small tilt of the head, genuine confusion radiating through the motion over what they are seeing exactly, before it clicks. An image. A vague description. One of the many "wonders" found upon the Surface. It's none other than a... a... cloud...! The Knight gives themself a mental pat upon the back as they remember the word and with it, question how it came into being here.

The process itself is simple enough, but it hadn't really occurred here before or at least not to their own knowledge.

After a moment (or two) passes however, they ultimately discard that train of thought and instead, simply let the rain wash over them with a faint, contented sigh.

A missed thing. Very much so. They can clean up the water later.

Eyes close for a little bit.

As it is now, they are contented to let the water hit their shell. They let the impressions felt through (and beyond) it sit heavy within their shell.

And then... ]

/ I can hear you. "Narrator."

The sun. I can do without. I believe to have experienced it quite plenty in the form of wrath. The foul goddess that shines in its likeness.

It is the more distant stars that hold my interest. Grand are the descriptions of the way they contrast the darkness of a night sky true; like a scattering of sparkling and Pale dust.

Like the very light of my parents.

But more numerous than can be easily counted.

Ahem... <She'd clear her throat before standing fully upright in respect.> <She being only 1/3rd your height its a slight bit difficult to speak fully eye to eye. But she tries.>

I must thank you for your kindness... I had a run in with some... Rather... Unfortunate people... When entering the city... I was able to get out but... Not without being bruised a bit...

[Hand of black shell already outstretched, a luminescence of Pale outlining its spindly likes, it draws close to the bruised wings where it then sets about the task of healing. All the while, Holly makes a concentrated effort to listen as the moth speaks. To catch all the details given and turn them over with the utmost care.

The introduction… receives no more than a polite yet acknowledging nod.

They step back and straighten up, task of healing done and with it, their hand dips deep into the darkness of their cloak to retrieve a small bottle containing an almost shimmery silver paste within it. One which they hesitate none to squeeze onto muddy parts of the cloak, fingers gripping the fabric gentle yet firm, where the stains touched immediately start to evaporate into nothingness.

“Unfortunate people”.

They make a mental note to track down and… dispose of, unless sufficient reason is otherwise given, the “unfortunate people”. Were the gate not still destroyed and knights still in short supply… this would not have happened. This cannot stand. Passage should be safe into the Tearless city; not wrought with danger.

Shade-Den.

It rings somewhat familiar. Not enough for the Knight to fully grasp how exactly though. They will have to ask her about it when they can. As it stands now…

They step back, returning the small container of paste to the darkness of their cloak, the moth’s cloak now back to its pristine white in full.

…there are other matters at hand.

They blink, a tiny hint of surprise sweeping over their features, and tilt their head down closer.]

/ Ah. You did not come seeking to speak with my parents… —that is, the king or queen of Hallownest?

Rather. It is a moth that you seek?

The Watcher. The moth of which I spoke. He resides within the great Spire of the Tearless city. /

[They point towards a towering and glorious building a bit away.]

/ But, he is unavailable at this time. He is on… urgent business on behalf of Hallownest’s king and will not truly become available for an as of yet undetermined amount of time. /

[Head tilts in the direction of the grand fountain, the statue in their own likeness missing and instead replaced by a great willow tree, spindly branches elegantly dripping outwards with an unspoken grace and fortitude; bold, proud, and unbroken by the adversity to recently plague this city in the Lost form of their father.]

/ Would you like to rest by the fountain?

I would imagine that, “unfortunate people” or not, your journey was not an easy one.

There was a longer time, not a whole lot, but enough to show that some thought was given before the messages come in proper once more.

It makes sense, we normally don't need to sleep, and thus don't really dream.

And if I can admit, I have never tried this before.

Prior to the distressed call my sibling made, though I don't know if you heard it yourself, I didn't really care much, and was happy with where I am.

But now, with this adventurous feeling seeping into me, I want to see if I am able to pull it off without any consequence.

There is a sibling that I had met during my arrival to Hallownest named Pane, which I have contacted not too long ago.

I am unsure if you know them, but they are kind and quite energetic, not wanting to fight, though with determination to help either way.

The sleeping thing you bring up is the same with them, and even so, I hope to practice my task to talk to them in dreams so that we can still see each other with no issues.

I miss speaking to them, though they miss me more, haha.

They want to give me a gift as well, which...gives me a warm feeling, I will not lie.

I want to make it clear that you should not force yourself to sleep just for my sake.

A forced dream isn't a good dream I feel, and I've repeated this to Pane.

It's good to practice, both dreaming and exercising its magic, but trying to rush everything would go horribly wrong for both parties involved.

Please, don't feel obligated to push yourself to do it.

With that said, however, I would be delighted to help in any way I can, the concept of dreams is a bit of a complex subject after all.

At a reasonable pace, I'm sure it can be done well.

...I uh, am getting the dizzy feeling, albeit on a lighter scale at the moment.

[They read the message sent. Carefully. Closely.

Then an abrupt pause partially through.

"distressed call".

A trickle of guilt immediately sticks to their mind Thick. Like honey, but bitter and and sharp all the way through.

Holly shakes their head to themself. They… had completely forgotten. Dismissed their sibling of a split path the way they had dismissed another at the shattered city gates. Thought of them with the same quick... ruthlessness that had entered their mind when father's dire... state had become apparent. Cruel are they.

They must do better.

In this, though Holly expressed no such thing aloud, they nonetheless mentally note to (eventually) "make it up" to their sibling at some point before then continuing to read through the remainder of the message.

Black claws tap at the phone screen a few times, as pensive as can be, before they gradually take on a more intent and purposeful rhythm; words proper flowing from mind to text.]

[Holly]: Pane? Yes. I have met them. Once. They are quite talented. Of artistic inclination. They showed me a few portraits they had painted for others. And though inadvertently so, granted me some much-needed practice at the action of hugging. That feeling of warmth. I am not unfamiliar with it. I knew it a little in cloak of red in the past. And have only grown to know it deeper in more recent times. Hold onto it. There is little of greater value than that.

[Holly]: And worry not. Sleeping will not be for your sake alone. I have long since been attempting it prior to this contact made. It is... a "work in progress". It has been for a time. I need only to resume these efforts. Whether not I dream however, will be a different matter altogether.

This. And I will admit.

I know little of dreams. Even when I was made to slumber regularly by father... it is rare that I would ever dream. I do not know what makes a good dream other than its content, but I shall nonetheless trust your judgement upon it. No force will be used. I do not think that I can. I intend only to make efforts at sleeping more (which I mean to do anyways) and should I happen to dream during one such effort... we may speak.

[A moth. Uncommon nowadays. Rare.

This alone is enough to catch their attention; a corner view quickly shifting to the full breadth of their vision as they turn their head. Holly then notes, rather acutely, the condition of the moth. Dirty clothing. Bruised wings. And small, shining, watery, and leaking things not easily seen at a passing glance; tears. At that something in them immediately stills, concern washing over them like ice suddenly touching more... fragile shells, and they move to close the distance a little.

They note that she seems to have been wandering around as though lost. If they had to guess, they would presume that she had just come off a rather... unfortunate turn of events. Ones which, despite carrying herself rather well, had evidently left her shaken.

When eyes meet, Holly notices the length of her staring none; finding the action to be rather inoffensive and returning the staring with some of their own as they (awkwardly) try to think of what to say. Exactly a minute of time is spent thinking of what to say before they reach out with mind-speak and briefly point to her wings.]
