I dragged my carcass to the King, leaving a bloody trail in my wake. My fingers stained the hem of His white robe. I waited in vain for a scowl or a wince, but only felt the warmth of His hands over mine. He reached for me and pulled me to His chest. Tears fell—to whom they belonged, I didn’t know.

His whisper was like life itself, healing scarred wounds. Love unfurled hatred, and He clothed me in Himself. The shackles on my ankles and wrists shattered. In that moment, all that mattered was Him.

“Welcome home.”
