I'm an idiot. Jasper is the name of one of the people who works at Mojang. I had a "Jasper is my cat" moment, with someone with the SAME NAME. I got his pronouns wrong too because I assumed it was Jasper from SU because Minecraft News mentioned Steven Universe in the "diamonds" article.
