Queer biracial culture is slowly becoming aware of how white this site is and how a lot of people's priorities and concerns just seem so fundamentally different from mine? My biggest concerns in life concern my country, which is currently undergoing a civil war and several other political struggles and my trauma and complicated feelings towards it. I'm lucky to be half white because it means I am shielded from a lot of the homophobia and transphobia in my country (where it's also illegal to be either though it's kind of inconsistently inforced). A lot of people there will conditionally accept my queerness on the basis that im a "foreigner" and "western" and a part of me dies inside whenever I think about that. I hate having to navigate between my culture and my queerness and I hate that to be tolerated (which is still a type of privilege), I have to be seen as an outsider. I hate how people assume queerness is white. I hate knowing that I can fully articulate this on my blog because I know most of the white queers here just wouldn't get it and it's :/

Queer poc culture is wanting gender neutral terms in your native language but not knowing any other queers from your country

Queer poc culture is thinking you found ‘one of the good’ white men just because he told you he experiences attraction in a queer way… and he’s the most comphet guy ever. And you tell him your actually half white-half mexican and it’s no big deal right :). And in our talks of indigenous rights (in reference to our mandatory classes learning about history) you treat me as if I have no say because I’m ’more white or w/e’ but you still pull my hair when I say it’s important to me, you only talk to me to make yourself feel better. You treat me and my partner and my friends like our life experience doesn’t matter.

As a side note I’m really happy the people here are genuinely accepting of mixed queers.

I tell people I’m mixed and they tell me they couldn’t tell because I don’t fit their expectations of what that should look like.

It makes me happy to see that this blog accepts queer poc from actually every kind of life.

Not sure if this is a ‘well yeah, of course’ moment but acceptance is something I haven’t found everywhere haha.

Queer poc culture is knowing your history in undoubtedly queer but colonisers have stolen the language and art and stories you had around it and you’re left with almost nothing.

people act like it's self-othering to be nonbinary but as a poc of also other minorities with a life that was generally already unusual, and inescapably othering, i can at least partly feel included and understood on various levels through nonbinary community

the queer poc experience is wanting to throttle white people who are so disgusted by body hair. like the tiniest sliver of body hair. acting like its so unnatural or crazy or disgusting. or acting like their tiny little patches of pale straight body hair is "so full" or "crazy" or like, exceptional. like come the fuck on. on a more positive note, body hair is awesome, its cool to grow out, i love it and it is natural and good. ESPECIALLY poc body hair.

having a weird history with gender because i'd get called "not a girl" in various ways as a child/teenager sometimes and find that affirming being not a girl with my estrogen-dominant puberty, and years after i realized that was really just racism. trying to stop gendering my body either way myself is still a journey... (i'm agender but identified as transmasc for years before realizing i don't have to have a gender)

My POC queer experience is my white mom constantly insisting on me recloseting for my safety, but I've been visibly queer my whole life and I'm already visibly black. There are plenty of reasons why someone may want to hurt me for how I look, no matter how much I try to closet myself, so why would I try? I'd be miserable no matter what, so why not transition? I just don't think she gets me, yk. I'm trans, I'm black, and she's not those things. She says stuff like that that always makes me go Oh, yeah I forgot you don't Get It. It's just ugh.

When I said "I've seen this happen towards masculine black cis women the most" that's not me saying that black cis women face more transmisogyny then white Trans woman. That's me saying that I've seen MASCULINE black cis women be affected by transmisogyny the more than I've seen feminine black cis women by affected.

Cajun-Creole queer culture is using the word T-boy even though I am not transmasc or a trans man. Like nooooo, not T-boy in that way, T-Boy in the way that I am tiny and take up some of the social roles prescribed to young men within my culture and society.
