Not afraid of a zombie apocalypse or the world suddenly coming to an end in some magical rapture predicted by the Mayans or the Norse or whatever. I'm afraid of the world coming to an end because global warming causes about 300,000 deaths a year. I'm afraid because predictions say that by mid-century there will be 700 million environmental refugees. And that by the end of the century the Earth won't even be able to sustain 1 billion people, effectively reducing the human population to a tenth of what it is. And it seems to me we're all too busy bickering to do a damned thing about it.
