She chuckled, âCanât promise anything. Sorry, Barton.â Of course theyâd work together to stay out of prison. She would just make extra sure he didnât go in again. She laughed, âYeah, yeah. You get a good view. I get to kick someones ass.â She sipped her beer and looked at the tv.Â
âCanât blame a guy for trying.â Clint shrugged. Theyâd worked together long enough to know not to doubt her when it is something she finds important. Apparently that includes him. âYou know I love a good vantage point.â He grinned and finished off his beer. âSo feel like increasing the alcohol content yet? I could use something a bit stronger.â
She finished off her beer and nodded, âSure. I actually had to go grocery shopping earlier today. I hate grocery shopping...in disguise.â She chuckled as she stood. âDo you have any idea how annoying it is to have to put on a blonde wig and dress up before you go outside...But I got vodka...whiskey if you want it. And snacks. Because snacks are always needed.â She smiled and nodded towards the kitchen. Sheâd probably need help. âIm too good to you by the way.â

âI really didnât think Iâd ever see you around againâŠâ
âAnd what made you think that? Iâm everywhere, always lurking.â She chuckledÂ
âOh you knowâŠjust that brawl you and your buddies had on that airline hangar.â Yeah, Bobbi had been keeping tabs on the current situations. Old habits were hard to break. âAnd you airing all those secrets to the world before that.â
Natasha shrugged, âSHIELD had to be brought down. There wasnât exactly an easier way.â Yes, she slightly felt bad about it but only for the real agents. Hydra had been in too deep to even be sure who was with who so the only way was to bring it down. âAnd the brawl was regrettable...But its done now.â

She shook her head, âIâm promising because Iâm gona make sure. No prison. I will literally take out anyone and everything.â She wandered off to the kitchen, putting the plates in the sink and grabbed two more beers. She meant every word she said, whether he believed her or not. She moved back into the living room and flopped down close to him on the couch, handing him his beer.Â
âI know youâll do everything possible to save my ass. You usually do.â He turned his head to follow her every move. âJust donât go all bad ass and not let me get a shot in.â He trusted her to keep her promise, it was what she was willing to give up to keep it that worried him. He shook that thought before she could see how much it bothered him. He smirked. âThough I do love to watch you kick ass.â He happily accepted the beer before stretching out and getting comfy. â Usually leaves me with a damn good view.â
Break or Break Up?

Natasha chuckled, âBeen every colour for on mission or another. The black wig is weirdâŠIâll wear that next time.â She sipped her coffee and scanned the area, making sure, for the fiftieth time that no one had made her. âYou are, Pep. Donât think that. I know he loves you. Heâs justâŠwell heâs Tony. I think he just needs to be spoken to twice as hard as some people.â She nodded, âYeah they doâŠits called my fist. OhâŠor I could shock him with my stingers if you like?â She smiled, trying to make her friend at least smile through all this.
Tony didnât know how good he had it with Pepper. Yes she understood the need to help people but he also needed some sort of balance. Needed to put Pepper first once in a while. It certainly wouldnât hurt. There were enough of them to share the work.
@the-slavic-shadow
âIâm sure that youâve got him before with those.â Pepper did laugh. âHe may love me. In fact, I know that he does. Itâs just that being Ironman means more to him.â Why else would he go and make another suit? âBlack wig. Huh? Think Iâd look good in one of those?â Maybe the paparazzi wouldnât follow her around so much.
Would it have been so far to pick her over the adrenaline rush that was saving the world? Pepper knew that she couldnât be selfish. It was either her or the billions of people she shared the world with.
âIâm not sure it means more to him. I mean he did give up the arc reactor for you. Thats something right?â She sipped her coffee. âMaybe heâs just come to rely on Ironman? Like a safety net sort of thing.â
She chuckled, âWeâll get you one. So you can have your nights off and go without getting noticed. Maybe we can actually have a proper girls night out.â

âWell we can still do the drink til drunk part. And you wonât sendup back there. I promise you that.â Sheâd kill everyone in sight rather than have him go back there. And she wouldnât go there either. âSoâŠâ She stood and picked up the plates. âAnother beer? Before we move on to the vodka of course.â She smiled
âYes, lets drink.â He smiled at her. âYou donât have to promise. We both know it isnât always up to us.â Heâd give anything to know that neither of them were in any danger but they usually were. Though usually they werenât technically criminals during their down time. âThat sounds like a start.â He smirked.Â
She shook her head, âIâm promising because Iâm gona make sure. No prison. I will literally take out anyone and everything.â She wandered off to the kitchen, putting the plates in the sink and grabbed two more beers. Break or Break Up?
There were a lot of actions Tony had taken to prove that he was making a change for the better. Though he had made a few more moves that she hadnât counted on. It was like an addiction. If the suits were an extension of him, then he should have known better than to head back to the lab and create more. Did he not love her as much as he loved being Ironman?
There was only one other woman to talk about it with.
âNatasha. I donât know what to do. You know him better than anyone.â
@the-slavic-shadow
Natasha had decided to meet up with Pepper for coffee. Even through all the crap and the opposite sides she still saw Pepper as a friend and sheâd be fucked if she wasnât there when her friend needed her. So here she sat in a cafe with her sunglasses on and a blonde wig, looking nothing at all like herself but it was worth it to see Pepper.
âIâm not sure anyone knows Tony like you do, Pep. Have you tried talking to him? Reasoning?â
Yes reasoning with Tony Stark was nearly impossible but it was Pepper Potts after all. If anyone could do it she could.
âEver think about going blonde full time?â Pepper sipped her coffee to keep from laughing. âYou know what thatâs like,â she took in a breath and looked passed the woman and out of the window. âI talk. He listens. The words get lost somewhere between his ears and his genius brain. I guess that Iâm just not enough for him. I donât give him that rush he craves.â It was as if he was addicted. âIâm no adrenaline junkie. What would I know? Do they make an antidote for that?â
Natasha chuckled, âBeen every colour for on mission or another. The black wig is weird...Iâll wear that next time.â She sipped her coffee and scanned the area, making sure, for the fiftieth time that no one had made her. âYou are, Pep. Donât think that. She shovelled more food into her mouth and tried not to laughed. âHmmm maybe you should just eat and not say anything in that case.â She teased. She sipped her beer and slipped into a comfortable silence with him. Just eating and drinking. The food turned out a lot better than sheâd expected and once it was done she relaxed back onto the couch and just watched the tv. âSoâŠany plans for what happens next?â They were both sort of fugitives now. And Natasha had no idea what to do next with herself, other than of into hiding for a while.
âYeah, probably.â He shrugged before turning his focus on finishing his meal. He didnât really want to annoy her just because heâd been locked up with just a few other people. Once he finished his dinner and set the plate aside he sighed. âBig picture orâŠâ he stopped to really think about it. âThe goals were to get here, food, drink til drunk, pass out, and I guess try not to get thrown back in The Raft. Thatâs about as far as Iâve gotten.â
âWell we can still do the drink til drunk part. And you wonât sendup back there. I promise you that.â Sheâd kill everyone in sight rather than have him go back there. The look on her face had him raising his eyebrow. He thought back over what he had just said and didnât really think anything was that crazy. He laughed and nodded. âI can live with crazy, been called worse.â He grinned and matched her movement with his beer. âYeah, to sharing.â He laughed again and glanced at a clock on the wall. âYup. At least for the next five minutes or so. Maybe more if I donât say anything too stupid.â He half shrugged. âWhich is fine with me, best conversation and food Iâve had in a while.âÂ
She shovelled more food into her mouth and tried not to laughed. âHmmm maybe you should just eat and not say anything in that case.â She teased. âShared?â Where was he going with this conversation. Probably teasing her like always. Although theyâd shared a bed before it was usually after a mission when they were both too battered and exhausted to care. She smiled and sipped her beer. âProbably starve or deadâŠdefinitely dead. You would have gotten your ass kicked by now.â She chuckled and dug into her food.
âYup. Like good food and bad tv. Itâs best when shared.â He nodded like it was the most obvious thing in the world. âWhy else would anyone invest in GOOD sheets? You spend most of your time in them out cold. And well, social norms say you put the best sheets, towels, and junk out when you have a guest? That means the best stuff is meant to be shared. Times, booze, bed. All better shared.â He took a quick drink, nodding again. âWell yeah, Iâm sure one of them would have shot me by now if it wasnât for you. That and you feed me.â He grinned before taking another big bite off his plate, ââsides, you liâ havân me âround.â
Her mouth hung open for a second as he went on his, what seemed like a rant on sharing. She really didnât know what to say about it all so she just laughed and shook her head. âYouâre absolutely crazy, Barton. But Iâll drink to that.â What else could she say? âTo sharing?â She help up her drink to him. âOh do I? Well weâll see how long it take for me to want to kill you. Iâm giving it fifteen minutes. And thats a stretch.â She laughed.

Clint took her flushed face as a victory and decided might as well keep at it. He shook his head and grinned. The mental image didnât help deter him. âI can think of worse ways to go.â He nodded. âNice sheets should be shared.â He was having more fun with this conversation than he probably should but recent conversations for him had been rather terrible. When he dropped on the sofa, careful not to lose the contents of his plate, he wondered why he ever let this safehouse fall to the back of the list. He was drawn out of his thoughts when when she handed him the beer. âWhat would I do without you.â He grinned. âYou spoil me.â

âLook who is here. Agent Romanoff. Thor has instructed me to apologize for allegedly calling you a mewling quim but I have no memory of having done so.â Lies and lies and lies.
Natasha raised a perfectly trimmed eyebrow. âHave we come down with a bit of selective memory, Loki? Thereâs a cure for it, ya know. I call it cognitive recalibration.â A smirk appeared on her lips as she looked at the mischevious god in front of her
Loki leaned forward, green eyes daring her to attack him. âAnd how does that work? This cognitive recalibration? Is that how you reclaimed agent Barton?â
She glared back at him, every fibre in her being wanting to smash his head against a wall but she didnât move. âWell it involves your head, that wall and me smashing your head into it. Its a very nice thought.â She frowned when he mentions Clint, her fists clenching tightly, âBartonâs got nothing to do with you so how about you donât talk about him.â
Loki laughed softly. âAgent Barton has everything to do with me. I saw his mind. And ohâŠhow he longs for you. But he doesnât know about your past.â He taunted even though Thor warned him not to torment her.
âAgent Barton and I are friends. He knows enough about me and my past. How would you know anything of it, other than what you got from him?â She ignored the longing part because it was Loki. He lied and twisted things. As for her and Clint yes they were friends and he knew pretty much everything about her and her past...pretty much. There was a dark corner than no one except perhaps her handlers at the Red Room knew about. And they were gone.

âI can think of something better. Like no clothes. Tell me that isnât the best?â He smirked. âConsidering thatâs practically what you were in when I got here.â He laughed. âAs long as it isnât charcoal Iâll happily eat it. Iâm starving.â He nodded before shoving a bite off his plate into his mouth. âLeâs go âor comfy,â He managed around the bite and using the plate to point towards the living room.Â
Natasha shook her head, typical Barton. A heated flush rose up on her face, there was no way she could have hid that one. âShut up...It was probably best I wasnât cooking naked anyway. You probably would have had a damn heart attack when you came in....Sleeping naked is the best thing in the world. Especially in a nice clean bed with new sheets.â She should probably stop this conversation. It had the potential to turn awkward or just plan bad. She grabbed her own plate and two beers that sheâd bought the night before for them. âReady when you are...lead the way.â She followed quickly and sat down, handing him a beer.
