Intro

Hello, and welcome to Kal Asterock's library. I am Naledi, one of the librarians here, and currently the only one on duty while Gladys is on leave following a certain incident that occurred recently.

I am always happy to assist in any way I can, but please read and follow the rules while you are here:

No food is permitted in the library. It will be forcibly removed, along with you.

Furthermore, please do not use food as a bookmark, either. This ruins the pages, it's a waste of food, and it is impossible to clean.

Destructive Tamas are strictly banned in the library. This means no sticky webbing, no elemental Tamas, etc. Tamas that will not cause structural damage, or damage to the books, are allowed within reason.

Of all Mrs. Edina's near expulsion incidents, I wonder how many of those were someone trying to sabotage her and the Dragons. Like, she was THE Dragon Striker and one of the school's biggest Gorotama stars, she must have had a big target on her back, right?

Some very well could have been! After Manohar's near murder, the Goyens were strict with sabotage. Even when they were more relaxed in my later years, most still avoided trying to sabotage specific players directly out of fear of punishment. I imagine that led some to getting creative (like that attempt to frame her for vandalism).

Do you have any books on summoning spirits of dead people!? Maybe if Goyen Sugoi and Goyen Sunspear got to talk with Edina Nagatatsu for one more time, even though she's a spirit now... Maybe, just maybe, that would help them with whatever they're going through as of late...!

Oh, sweet child, that is a terrible idea. In order to do that you'd need to go where she's buried, and she is not in the crypt. I am unsure where she has been buried, and quite honestly, I think it's best we don't do that.

It's very true! Prom is held every year at the end of every year. Usually only fourth years attend, but underclassmen may attend if they're invited by a fourth year.

There's no limits to my knowledge! At least, there wasn't in my day. Make sure to check in with Goyen Sugoi to ensure that hasn't changed at all.

Can you tell us more about the times Mrs. Edina almost got expelled from Kal Asterock?

Too many to count, honestly. She caused many incidents of (accidental) damage to school grounds. The Valentines incident might have almost been considered purposeful if she herself hadn't also gotten sick from her own candy. There are just too many to list individually, and a lot of them boil down to "she lost control of her Tama at an inopportune time".

Are there any instances of Goyen Sunspear being less of a twat and more of a kind, helpful person from when he's still a student here?

More than he'd like you to think. That incident where he helped Goyen Sugoi clear Edina's name? For the longest time, everyone assumed it was just Goyen Sugoi and the rest of the dragons who figured out the truth. But in reality, Goyen Sugoi only managed it after she'd been sent an anonymous tip. Goyen Sunspear did eventually admit to being the one to send in that tip years later.

There were a lot of little instances of that. Sure, he did big, grand gestures for the sake of show, but that's not actually the way he shows he cares. He does it in small gifts and little favors that are difficult to be traced back to him.

I suppose I should share a more personal story regarding this subject. I can't remember what had upset me, but I'd been crying in a little corner of the library. Surya walked in with his regular crowd of fans, saw me, and immediately turned back around with some excuse I can't remember. He came back a few minutes later, alone, and sat a bottle of water on the table next to me. I didn't even have time to thank him before he was out the door again.

I'd never even spoken to him before that day. I was the quiet little wallflower who only interacted with others when my roommate dragged me into a discussion. Helping me, especially when no one else was looking, wouldn't have really helped his social standing at all. But he still did it. There were other similar interactions I had with him. They never lasted more than five minutes, but I remember them well.

I know it's silly to get caught up on a few tiny little interactions. I don't think he even remembers me. But my brain has latched onto those little brief acts of kindness, and I don't think it will let go of them anytime soon.

Were there any incidents of students sneaking stray animals/pets into school in your years? What was the most successful attempt?

The two cats that got into the library. They'd apparently been here for a month before I was informed of their existence. Maybe even longer. I'm still trying to figure out who brought them up here. There's no way they could have just wandered in; animals don't like going into the skondolas on their own accord.

There have been other attempts, but the school takes animals being here seriously. Sanga has eyes everywhere thanks to his crows. He always notices if someone's sneaking pet food in.

Talking about birthday parties reminds me of that article I've just read in the past school newspapers! It was Goyen Sugoi's birthday, so the Dragons along with some other students threw a surprise birthday party for her on the Dragons' field! All went smoothly until it was time to light the candles. None of them had a lighter, so Edina Nagatatsu used her Tama to light the candles instead, and then...

...At least the birthday cake's still edible if you cut off all the burnt parts, I guess...

Yeah that's usually the extent of the birthday "incidents" at Kal Asterock, haha. Despite everything, everyone seems to try their best to be well-behaved on another's birthday. It's some unspoken rule that's existed for a long time, even before I went here.

Doesn't always stop Kal Asterock from doing it's thing, though. Anything that can go wrong at this school probably will.

Do you have any tea about why Goyen Sanga revoked Oregrinas Captain status and his true thoughts on her after that?

Goyen Sanga keeps his cards very close to his chest, so I'm afraid I can't help you there. Goyen Sanga is always shifting captains around. His reasoning is his own to reveal, and he has never wanted to. I normally say to ask the Goyen yourself in situations like this, but this time I really don't think it that would work. Goyen Sanga doesn't discuss his plans with anyone who isn't part of them.

As this is a boarding school, many students must have celebrated their birthdays at school! Were there any birthday celebrations that stuck out to you from the times you studied here, Ms. Naledi?

Surprise parties were always common. If anyone breathed a word of your birthday in the feasting hall everyone would put aside their rivalry to sing happy birthday to you. I once witnessed an about-to-be-a-fistfight get completely stopped and forgotten about because both parties jumped in to sing to another student. It was a surprisingly good method at deescalation.

Somehow there weren't many birthday incidents at my school. Well aside from that one "tried to surprise my roommate on his birthday only to find him making out with my partner". Apparently the boys' dorm was trashed in the fallout of that.
