A whole new world || Cecilia&Kyle

God, it was so HOT. Why was it so darn hot all the time? Right… It’s summer. Kyle was pretty much done with all the chores around the farm, so he had a little time to play around. Not too much though… Th beach sounds like a good place to make time pass by. Maybe a little swim will cool him off.

With that set in his mind, Kyle pretty much rushed to the beach, with a huge smile planted on his face like the dork he was. Once he reached the beach, he noticed a familiar figure…

"Cecilia?" Kyle decided to walk. She seemed to be deep in thought, he wouldn’t want to interrupt her. Last time he interrupted someone it turned out rather… Badly… But then he heard her say those words… It made him a little sad.

"Why don’t you?"

As Cecilia heard the all too familiar voice, and turned to see that kind face she had missed for quite a while now. "Kyle!" She said with a cheerful tone in her voice as she stood up, and faced her long time friend. "How have you been?" She asked the red haired man in front of her.

Cecilia looked down bashfully and bit her lower lip before answering Kyles statement. "I would..I mean, i already did... But... Now I'm just stuck." she said as she giggled. "It was fun, i mean, I've got three monster friends now,and i got to meet a lot of people...And made new friends, but..Somethings missing." Cecilia looked up at Kyle with her emerald eyes that shone in the sun. "...A companion maybe?" She said as she lightly kicked the sand below her. "..Or maybe i'm just that hopeless romantic as always." She gave a shy sigh as she admitted to her own self what she wanted.

"But enough about me." She said smiling at Kyle. "I want to hear what has happened to you these past few weeks." Cecilia said as she lightly placed her hand on the others shoulder. And obviously, missing his company more than ever.

"I’m glad I was able to be of some help." Jin nodded to himself. "Ah." He’d been about to offer to help Cecilia put things away, but she’d finished before he’d had the chance. He noted that she’d left the cookies. He certainly wasn’t going to eat them all himself, but… Perhaps he’d have other patients he could share them with.

"Ah, I see. Well, if you ever need someone to talk to, I’m available." He smiled slightly upon seeing the look on her face. She’s so young. “I wish you luck in your endeavors.” He stood and bowed his head. “I will most certainly listen again. I look forward to it.” He gave a short wave. “Go easy on your ankle.”

Cecilia stood up and then fixed herself, and made sure the contents of her pouch bag was intact. With a smile and a bow she thanked the kind doctor again. "...Thank you..." Was what she said before she turned to leave.

Looking back again to smile at him and nod. "I will...! And you take care now Doctor Jin!" She said as she walked off out of the tent with a wave goodbye to a new friend.

"Hey, you discredit yourself too much! If you feel confident in yourself, you instantly look a thousand times better. I’m serious!" Kathy put her hands on her hips. "If you want other people to think you’re hot, you’ve gotta think you’re hot!" She returned the smile tenfold. "Of course! I think these clothes might help give you a little self-confidence boost, too."

"I’ll look forward to it too! I’m going to show you the wonders of the fashion world, m’kay?" She looked Cecilia up and down and laughed. "This is definitely it. I’m glad you like it! I bet you’ll catch someone’s eye." She winked. "Just kidding! Oh, not to say you don’t look pretty. You really do."

Cecilia felt herself blush a bit and then smile at her new friend. "B-but..." she couldn't say anything nor argue with what she said. It was..True, and by a long shot, a fact. If you love and are confident of who you are and that also counts with how you look, you'll feel and look a thousand times better. Maybe it was just her really being shy and under confident. "A-alright...!" She clapped her hands together once, and nodded. "I'll try!" Cecilia said, confidence just oozing out of her and half-her shyness dissipating. As Kathy spoke of the clothes, Cecilia looked at her with trust in her eyes. "Uhm..Well then i of course will trust your judgement." She said giving Kathy a sweet smile.

"Me too." Cecilia said giggling, and rather a bit excited. She had never really tried any of that sort, but if its with a friend, she is willing. She blushed lightly again as Kathy seemed to study her look again. "A-ah r-really...? T-though I'm not trying to..." She said tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear. Though she did want to experience the 'wonders of love' she didn't just want to catch someones eye by her looks but also by her personality. When Kathy complemented her, as she took it, she looked down and smiled. "W-well... I've got a really pretty new friend now too." she said looking up at her.

He felt drool come out of his mouth, which he promptly wiped away.

"I-If thats okay? I mean, no want eat your food…" He blushed, still staring at the container.

He thought that was all her food! He really didn’t know anything about living in a house, and that there are things called ‘Refridgerators’ that store food and keep it good.

"I no want you go hungry too… is suck."

Cecilia nodded and gave Faulkner a gentle pat in the back.

"Of course!" She said with a giggle and then smile. "You're my friend Faulkner... Please do help yourself to the food i made." She said offering it yet again to her hungry friend.

He must've been worried he really thinks he was being a bother to her. Cecilia never gave it a second thought, and would always think, her friends would, NEVER be a bother.

As Faulkner spoke she giggled again. "No Faulk, really it's alright, I've got plenty see?" She said as she placed the rice in his hands and then opened the picnic basket filled with fruits, dishes and just, filled with food. "So really, let's have a nice lunch alright?"

Cecilia sat down by the seaside and this time wore nothing over her swimsuit. She still wasn't used to it, but by a long shot? She had to, since she can't keep using her white silk dress, since it might result to it having a dirty white complexion after sometime, rather, always washing it, as well as she worries she might wear it down.

She then looked out to the sea, and let the gentle breeze pass her by as she had this longing look on her face. With her fingers she then began to draw something on the sand, she drew a heart, and then beside it a boat. It wasn't...One of her best interpretations of how she felt at the moment but it was what she could do to let it out.

The waves gently crashed near her feet and washed away her drawing. Almost like, it was her dream and wish that was washed away. With a sigh and a smile, she spoke to herself.

"...I want to travel again...I want to see the world..."

Sanjay listened with the polite smile still on his face, thinking about what she was telling her. His thought of the locket he wore beneath his robes, and how it was his only reminder of the place he was honored to be a part of before he was adopted by the royal family. Though…he could still understand the feeling of not knowing one’s parents. He never had the time to dwell on such things in the orphanage…but is was that empty feeling that he could never find the words to describe.

The butler looked out towards the lake, “It is nice that you have a sort of connection, whether it be there or not. I am sure that you will find answers…perhaps one day the answers will find you.” Sanjay looked back over and smiled politely, wondering if that was the correct thing to say. He never gave himself much credit on being good with words.

Cecilia fiddled with her pendant a bit more, touching its intricate design. Feeling the warmth that somehow radiated form it, only stopping to listen. It was her turn to listen to Sanjay, what he has to say in relation to her story, it was what she could do in return for him listening to her story, which she actually felt like she had great debt already to Sanjay. As he spoke, his words made a gentle touch to her heart. "...A connection...Yeah.." Cecilia placed her pendant on her lap as she looked out at the lake.

Another string of silence, Cecilia comfortable with the butlers company, and friendship. Somehow she also feels a sense of connection with him...Something similar, like a thin thread. She glanced at Sanjay as she hugged her knees.

"Sanjay...?"

"S’alright…I was bein’ an ass, so we’re even," Riley spoke with a small smirk on his face, "Let’s just head back…tired of wallowin’ out here. Can ya help me up?" The hunter tried to look as casual as he could. Truth was…he wasn’t really confident on his ability to get up by himself without looking suspicious. Just look casual…Riley. Don’t need to bring up any more shit tonight.

Cecilia gently wiped her tears from her eyes and then nodded, giving the man a smile. "..Yeah...I guess we we're somehow both at fault..." she said, lightly giggling. As he asked for help, she gladly complied, lending her shoulder for him to have support on. "Alright, careful now." She said letting Riley hold on to her.

"Thank you," Sanjay spoke politely before sitting down next to Cecilia. He gently pet Rexus while watching the starlight reflect down onto the water. The silence was relaxing, something he needed after a long couple months of heavy work and events at the mansion. He looked over towards Cecilia and caught the sight of a pendant safely cupped in her hands. 

"What is that you have there?" Sanjay asked gently, "If you do not mind me asking, of course."

Cecilia looked at Sanjay as he spoke, and then back at the pendant in her hands. "Ah...It's A pendant from my father." She said smiling sweetly. "He gave it to me when i reached my 8th birthday." Cecilia gently raised it up, and placed it on her chest, to right where her heart is.

"It's really special..." She said with a melancholic look on her face. "...And...It might have a connection to my mother..." She said as she let out a sigh. It wasn't a content sigh, it wasn't a sigh of disbelief, rather it was...Just that, and empty sigh. Like how she felt her memories on her mother was.

"I never knew my mother...Well my father won't even tell me stories of her." She said lightly pouting at that sentence now. "Though, he must have his reasons." As she said those words a smile appeared on her face.

Riley looked at her in disbelief before giving her a small smile, “Thanks, Ceci. You’re…a really great friend…” Friend…seemed a little odd to them. Weird to think that they were at eachother’s throats earlier to be saying that they were friends. At any rate, the hunter decided not to question it and just slowly sat up from the ground.

"…thanks…" Riley spoke quietly, looking at Cecilia with some embarrassment.

"No matter what...Alright..?" She said with a sweet smile. Her tears still falling, but her heart feeling much lighter than before. The feeling of sadness and pain, slowly disappearing, though the image of her hurt friend still burned in her mind. She won't ever forget it...But...What's in holding a grudge. She can't, she can only forgive. It may hurt, it may be risky, but that's all she can do.

"...Thank you too..." She said softly. Looking at him with a gentle smile. "..And..Sorry again...."

Riley laid next to the lake for a long time, just lying there on his back with his eyes closed. It was just when he felt himself drifting into sleep when he heard Cecilia’s voice and the touch of a soft hand on his cheek. One part of him was thankful that she brought him out of sleep, the other part actually wanted the torture that sleep brought him. His eyes slowly began to open as she began to speak some more.

"You know, I don’t deserve all that," Riley spoke quietly as he turned his head towards the lake, "I hurt your bird friend and you still think that…I don’t deserve that at all." He just stared there for a while, his thoughts still in turmoil from what she had yelled at him for earlier. 

Riley stiffened when she hugged him. Why…? Why was she doing that…? The hunter hesitantly lifted his arms and gave her a light squeeze.

"Hey…" Riley whispered, his words barely audible as they tumbled from his mouth, "Guess I’m sorry too. You haven’t…experienced the same stuff as me…so…I guess…"

"...No no...It was my fault for not considering your feelings..." She said as her sobs still choked up some of her words. "I...I'm really sorry Riley... I don't wanna have a spat like that with you again..." She said holding him like the special friend he is to her.

As she felt the other hug her lightly squeeze her in his arms, she couldn't help but cry some more. She longed for this gentle hugs and comforting moments, it was something she had wanted, and felt like she had lost a long long time ago. "...You're a really special friend..Even though... In these conditions...I hope you always remember that Riley..."

She let him go and then grabbed his hands with this determined look on her face, As the tears still kept streaming down her face.

Sanjay looked at Cecilia with a hint of concern as she spoke. Perhaps he had interrupted her as she was reflecting upon something. Still, one part of him wanted to know just why she seemed so…downcast. He wondered if he would even be worthy enough to listen to her troubles. 

"Ah, things have been rather busy as my master’s mansion as of late, so I have rarely found time outside of my regular duties," Sanjay answered with a polite smile. The butler jumped when something seemed to jump right at him to land on his shoulders. He turned his head to look at the cute creature and smiled gently at it as it began to nuzzle his cheek.

"Hello there," Sanjay spoke politely, "It is nice to meet you, Rexus." He looked back down towards Cecilia and smiled again.

"Would it be okay if I were to sit next to you?" Sanjay asked politely as he gently reached up to pet the mineral squeak.

"Ah..." She gave Sanjay a sweet smile. "Of course." She said as she pet the spot next to her. And then looked at her Mineral Squeek and Sanjay. "He's really taken a shine to you, he usually scratches anyone he just met or rather one who he doesn't feel at ease at." She giggled. "You have a good heart Sanjay."

Cecilia sat there in silence, but this silence was different than when she was alone. It was comfortable. Rexus on the other hand, happily accepted the mans offer to pet him, and nuzzled up to him more. She couldn't help but let out a light giggle as she held her pendant in her hands.

"It's really nice seeing you again Sanjay." She said grateful the butler had somehow found her.

He smiled, and then nodded. He got some driftwood that were further up on the beach and were dried, making a small bonfire. He transformed, and flew over the lake, diving down and snatching fish in his mouth, throwing them on shore. He caught about 10, before coming back and transforming into human form. He took out a small bone-knife, and sliced the heads off the fish, before putting sticks in them, and putting them near the fire.

"Now, we just need get rice." He said, looking over at Cecilia.

"I has gold, if want go buy rice for me?" He put his hands together, giving her the puppy dog eyes.

Cecilias eyes sparkled at how fast Faulkner worked. She clapped as Faulkner returned with the fish. "Wow~ That was fast!" She said as she walked near Faulkner who was setting up the fire and fishes. As Faulkner said that all they needed was rice, and that he asked for her to buy rice she giggled.

"How about we use the fried rice i made this morning before i left~!" She said. "It'd be a shame if it went to waste." Cecilia took out a container filled with the still steaming fried rice, and held it out to Faulkner with a smile on her face.

Riley was speechless as he watched the crying elf girl immediately turn to a fiery rage. The hunter could only look at her with wide eyes, her words pounding down on his heart in the worst way imaginable. He couldn’t…she didn’t…the hunter just sat there trying to process her words with his brain, but constantly found himself at a dead end.

He…he didn’t know that it was harmless. It was reaching right towards…the very thing he tried to keep hidden away from the world. What if it knew? What if it had found out and…? Was he wrong to stab the guy?

"And Monsters still have hearts!"

"No…" Riley whispered, blinking back some blurriness that had penetrated his eyes, "No…you don’t understand…they don’t. If they did…they’d never have…" The hunter took in a deep breath and wiped his eyes. He shakily stood up from his chair, still feeling wobbly from the beer.

"You might think that way. You might…" Riley couldn’t look her in the eyes anymore, how pathetic, "Don’t come crawling to me when you get a claw in your back." Without another word, the hunter immediately walked away, ignoring the plentiful eyes that Cecilia’s rant had attracted. He didn’t understand why he was so upset. It was bound to happen. Other towns had the monster lovers. Maybe he just thought that she…

"No…forget it…" Riley whispered to himself, "Nobody likes me in the end, anyway. Why should I care?" It was always him. He always did something to make people hate him, whether it be from the hunting or his personality or his leg. Why should he think any differently? He was just going to move on to the next town and people would forget him. Why should he be persuaded by a girl he wouldn’t see again?

Just as the hunter walked into the lake area, he felt a tug on his leg and soon he fell straight down to the ground. He laid there a while, face down in the dirt.

"Dammit…damn this thing…" Riley spoke quietly, "They did this to me…if that thing didn’t…" He sniffed, slowly getting up. He just needed to sit down for a while. Maybe he would sleep here. He didn’t want the chance of seeing her at the inn. Maybe…he would just go away. Figure out the next town to go to. He sure has had enough of this one. Maybe an island somewhere…or that Sharance place that Micah was from…

Riley laid down next to the lake, staring right at the water and wishing that he could just fall asleep.

"What do you..." She looked up at Riley confusion, her heart justified, but her true feelings remain unseen. She was WORRIED. But she was only worried for both of them. Her knowledge on monsters, and half-monsters is very little, and she does know some that can kill you on the spot if you're not careful, she knows Faulkner, Faulkner would never do that, but she didn't see him aggravated in anyway when he was with her. So she still wasn't sure.

"I think what i believe..." She said in response, without much thinking too.  She could feel the sharp pain in her own words. She quickly lifted her hand to her mouth and covered it. Why...? Why does it have to be this way? She ignored the stares and whispers of the people around them. To her, to what she hears, they were nothing but soft murmurs she couldn't understand.

As Riley left, she stood there in silence, her food untouched, her eyes filled with tears. The stares diminishing as Riley stormed off. Her tears dropped softly, as she regret what she said to the man. She...Might have gone too far, she struck a nerve. She was an idiot for not considering the others feelings. After a while of sulking and thoughts wandering on her words, she turned her heels and went to look for Riley. She wasn't sure where the other would be but she just had to find him.

Cecilia ran about Selphia, it was quiet, of course, it was nighttime. And after a long while, she saw a familiar figure by the lake side. It was Riley. She ran up to him and kneeled near him, placing her soft but shaking hands on his cheeks, and then looking at him. "...Riley...?" She said in a soft voice, that still had traces of sadness in it.

"I...I'm sorry..." She said as she looked down. "I..Didn't consider your feelings...I just..." She broke off, she was just what? Mad? Upset? No... "..I was just scared...If you got hurt...As well as Faulkner..." She choked back. "No matter the difference, you two are dear to me....I'm..I'm not mad you attacked him..I was...Scared..." she removed her hands from his cheeks and then hugged him. "So...Scared...I don't want to loose anyone." She said as her tears kept falling.

"Faulkner…" Riley repeated slowly. His mind blanked for a moment as the image of that bird came back into his mind. Then, an explosion of everything shattering. She was friends with it? His eyes widened, looking right into her eyes with shock. She…she was just asking to get hurt by hanging out with that dangerous…but she was upset and he defended himself?

The hunter leaned back in his chair, trying to formulate the words to say back to her. Instead of words, his hand slowly slid down to his pants. With his eyes still locked on Cecilia, he gently unsheathed his knife and dropped it onto the table, not caring if it made a noise. Riley then slid the knife over towards Cecilia to let her get a good look at it.

"You mean the bird…?" Riley answered, his mouth neither frowning or smiling, "I’m sure you can draw your conclusions from that knife. Before you come to any conclusions, I’ll just tell you I had to do it. It was just looking at my wares before it starting reaching right towards…me. Didn’t know what it would do." The hunter leaned over and snatched the knife away from Cecilia and secured it back into his sheathe.

Cecilias eyes grew in horror and shock as the man dropped and slid the knife close to her. The same knife that probably hurt Faulkner.

"You mean the bird…?"

No...So it was true... She shook in her seat, she shivered, the lump in her throat forming to be one pile of words she just couldn't let out and say. Her tears kept falling, and thankfully because of the bustle of the restaurant they, she and Riley weren't noticed. Then as Riley spoke in that tone, and those words. She felt something snap.

She went silent. Only to look at Riley with tear filled and sad eyes, "..So you just came to a conclusion yourself?" She said her voice staggering and her tone almost like a knife piercing ones heart. "...Faulkner could never hurt anyone." She said choking back her tears, but it was useless, they fell like pristine crystals. "Y-You.... You yourself came to a conclusion, and you hurt him for no reason. Did he hurt you? Did he attack you?" she said all the while looking at Riley with those eyes. "No right? HE MOVED CLOSER. He didn't show any signs of aggressiveness right? If he did then that would be because you attacked him without consenting what he wanted first!" she said pointing at Riley.

"Half-monsters are still humans! And Monsters still have hearts! Be it as it may they still have friends and families!" She said standing up from the table. Her eyes still overflowing with tears."H-How would you feel if you were the monster and you found out one of your friends of family died?" she said looking down.

After a moment she then looked up and then bit her lower lip "...I-I'm sorry..I just..." Cecilia covered her face, she didn't know what to do, all those words came out, as the lump in her throat disappeared.

She noticed how much interested he seemed to be in the apples and practically just handed him the basket, with a little force. “No no, i insist!” She said giggling and nodding. “You’ve really helped me out so…You deserve this~”

Cecilia kept handing him the basket. “I really insist.” She said giving him a gentle smile and a firm give. “Thank you really… So please…Take the basket.” She said nodding at him again.

He blinked, pupils still dilated then growled a tiny bit; not at her, but at himself for lack of some self-control in this stupid situation….ugh, did he always have to make it so apparent?  "F-fine. Thanks." He muttered, not making eye contact. "I don’t really, but….thanks." He said with a bit of a defeated sigh as he headed to the door. "Don’t……don’t. Nevermind." He said before leaving, still feeling almost bad for taking or accepting the basket of apples, as he took one out of the basket and took a bite that consisted of probably at least half of the apple as he walked away.
