âShower heads donât talk.â Remi made sure to point out, as she often wondered why her and Sethâs agreement worked so well and she decided that it had to be the lack of talking between the pair. Although the kind words from her friend caused her to smile warmly, but the lingering thoughts they left behind in her mind caused her to slump back into her seat. âTruthfully, I know that if one day I just cut him off and stopped talking to me, heâd replace me with someone else before the day is even over. And that bothers me.â Remi confessed shyly, because it really wasnât her style to be gushing over a man who clearly had no interest in her. âAnd it bothers me that it bothers me, you know?â she quirked her head to the side slightly, eyes narrowing as she started to analyse herself. âItâs mainly because Iâve spent years arguing with Blake about how dangerous being in the MC is and how one day sheâs going to end up hurt, or worse. And sheâd end up calling me a hypocrite for sleeping with Seth and it would just get⊠Messy.â Remi had accidentally created this image of herself being the âperfect childâ who went to school and got a good job, and she knew Blake would have a field day if she found out.

âI mean, it would be kinda fucked up if they did.â Tessa agreed with a smirk, but it faded as she listened to her friend, giving Remi her undivided attention. A part of her understood. It never felt good to feel disposable, to know that you were good enough for some things but not good enough for others. There were nights she spent time on the computer, a beer in one hand as she scrolled through pictures of her ex and his wife and their kids, drunkenly wondering why she hadnât been able to have that. It wasnât even because she missed him, but she didnât understand what heâd seen that had made him think she wouldnât be good enough. âWell, youâre allowed to be bothered. And youâre allowed to be bothered that youâre bothered. Just maybe donât put all your eggs in his bullshit basket.â Tessa offered with a shrug. âIf heâs not giving you all his time and energy, donât give him yours.â As the conversation circled back to her sister Tessa nodded knowingly, all too familiar with siblings and their rivalries. âOh, then obviously keep fucking him and never tell her.â she said with a laugh. âText her from his phone and tell her to run errands. Itâll be funny.â
