Kimmy Plays DR1: Prologue START
In this post: I cover the Prologue from the start to right after meeting everyone! Yes, I start off really strong with an extra long post, so beware!
If you guys have any advice on how to do the FTEs or the presents (specifically any special cutscenes (since I hear it is different from DR2 and V3), then please inform me :) I am going to attempt this without a guide, at least until school mode!
And my first look at the main menu is this XD Ahhh, to be spoiled and laugh at the coincidence!
Anyways, right off the bat came across a problem: I really canât have the pre-rendered animations play smoothly :P But! Never noticed how many spoilers there were in the opening, lol. Iâll have to pay attention to that in the other gameâs openings!
Executions go by so fast, but I love all the little details they add! I paid minimal attention to it the first time around, but now I see it looks like the classroom Makoto woke up in! Also, Jin Kirigiri looks a bit different then how he does in DR3 here, like even taking into consideration the art style difference. He seems almost sickly? I guess it makes sense, he is pale and about to be executed after all!
Keeping this to compare to the other execution title screens!

Obviously, Nagito is like the same, but twisted, version of Makoto, so Makotoâs insecurities here being surrounded by Ultimates, was simply amplified in Nagito. A line like that from Makoto didnât seem like anyting, but with Nagito, itâs instantly time to cringe... I donât know, it is interesting!
Also he says this out loud apparently? the text is white when everything else is in blue.
8/20/2010, huh? I donât think the date is significant in DR lore, but Iâll try to remember that anyways. Also Makotoâs computer is pretty decent! Even if his system looks outdated lol
I remember in DRAE we get a card about one of Sayakaâs group. I wonder if she is one of these? Also, we should have fanart of her bandmates!
They didnât let him keep his Goatee!
They gave her some interesting oufits! (Like, I like the Red Ribon one (and I wonder if the typo was intentional lol) and $5-6 for a magazine seems expensive to me!

interestingly, he has a glow to one eye, making me think of the DR3 anime opening with Izuruâs eye giving off an aura like that. Why only the right eye?
Overall quality of these official arts are pretty darn good! Iâll see how the rest of the CGs compare!
Poor Makoto! Although, the image of him being a cat and the ultimates all lions amuses me haha.
And the diverging point between Makoto and Nagito is, of course, that Makoto actually hope there are other average people in a class of Ultimates, and Nagito finds the thought disgraceful.
Vaguely reminds me of V3â˛s main menu screen, but maybe itâs just the coloring and a black vector of the building.

Never saw this before, but itâs funny to me that there is a âDanger: Keep Outâ sign on the student store.
This is after Ishimaru, or âTakaâ according to this game, wants to repot Makoto for being late. I feel Celeste is going to be one of the most logical of the group. I didnât give her much of a chance until after she was dead, so Iâm going to try to pay more attention to her.
Interestingly, you meet everyone in fives rather than exploring the school with a partner to meet them. Even in the anime, you meet them all at once, but it was in the gym rather than the main entrance hall. I think that the change from meeting them all at once and meeting them as you explore the environment available to you was for the better, but weâll see how I feel when we do get to explore.
To this day, I am still wondering what the nickname means... was that, like, his username??

Haha! Well, there are in fact misconceptions, but aften fanfiction/fanart is written in a more intriguing way than original media. Not a knock on original media, though! I think there is this double edged sword where some people who never read or see fanwork donât get it, and people who do get so involved in fanworks, they forget good original stories that are coming out.

Reminds me of Kaitoâs hero complex and his self-confidence in reaching the stars! I never really got into Leonâs FTEs and he dies so early, so while Iâd love to do Sayakaâs to get the details right properly, I gotta say Iâm curious about Leonâs. I wasnât impressed with his NDRV3 bonus modes, so hopefully the FTEs help me see things in his perspective better.
Okay, I really want to know more about Toko, because I almost ignored her besides key plot points.
I never realized she was that young when she wrote a book. Iâm so jealous of that skill!!!
Awww! I can now see why people automatically liked her.
I can definitely see why now XD The animeâs intro to her wasnât nearly as great! (I also started the DR1 Letâs play already into the first chapter, so I missed all of these intros) I think that she and Miu are kinda similar in the regard that they have this really surprising switch in character (Toko in a less often way from what I can remember, and there is the more obvious thing, as well)
Makoto had thought sheâd be some romantic haha. I guess he was expecting her to act kind of like a smooth female casanova (very wrong wording... ah well)
The always strict Ishimaru! or I should call him âTaka.â I never really paid him much attention. Even him becoming Kiyondo was a thing that I found mildly amusing and interesting, but they did nothing with it since he dies. I only ever liked him because I liked Mondo a lot (which from my experience with the fandom is the exact opposite. So Iâll be trying to do his FTEs in CH2 instead of Chihiro and Mondoâs!
XD Oh my gosh, Makoto! Makotoâs not quite as blunt or funny as Hajime, but he still has his moments lol. This is the first character he has shown actual annoyance for, outside of his apprehension and shock in meeting other characters.
Ahhh, Sayaka! My first favorite of this game! She hadnât been at first, honestly. She was pretty generic, I suppose? But once she snaps later on, it gets interesting and I love it!
That is... not something I would notice. Maybe it is a guy thing? Should I be wearing perfume or??
Annnd the thing that always gets me somehow XD If anything, this should show Sayaka is a lot smarter than she seems! Although, as we know later, desperation makes her judgement falter!
Even Makoto sees it! From what I know of Sayaka, having this skill is probably something that she needed since what she had wanted most was to be a popstar!

Ah yup, just about how I remembered it. The cool mysterious beauty, Kyoko Kirigiri! I am looking forward to paying much better attention to her!I I think that I will be doing her FTEs after Ishimaruâs, or maybe Tokoâs. Havenât quite decided yet!

Ah, I love Chihiro ^///^ They really have a great impact on the franchise, even if it isnât seen as that much by others!

(ok so the screens I took of Junko and Mondoâs are... gone haha. but from what I remember, I barely pay attention to Junko in CH1 since she also just dies, and her uh portrayal in DR3 was very different, or so it felt. As for Mondo, Makoto is so intimidated itâs pretty funny knowing how he is otherwise XD)
Aaaaand the final four! Three people who are among the lesser liked, but Iâll give them a chance!
I know exactly who I want to start with, though! For the anime, the fourth trial was the one that she truly shines in, and her willingness to sacrifice herself to protect her friends and her familyâs dojo is one that touched me, and why I still find her my favorite character from DR1, but before that, I didnât have much of an opinion honestly. I am going to pay special attention to her now! I believe nothing will change, but I canât say for sure!
XD I do remember this exchange. She wouldnât dare do such a thing though!

Well ok, in all honesty I never give him enough credit. Iâll be keeping an eye on him and do his FTEs as well! So far, my plan of attack is Leon, Taka, Celeste, Toko or Kyoko, and Byakuya last!
... sigh.
And the guy I never paid attention to at all... Iâll try my best! I am surprised that he actually has a nickname. I never hear anyone talk about him being called âSuperNovaâ before.
That was not even trying to be believable...
I donât remember Hiro ever talking like this honestly XD But he is obviously a super chill guy when his life isnât in danger.
