Today's compilation:
From the Megavault 1985 Thrash Metal / Speed Metal / Heavy Metal
See, folks, this is such a good example of why I try to give just about anything and everything a listen, because today I went into this album thinking that I didn't really like 80s metal all that much, and now after having heard this, I'm very much reconsidering my status as a hardened non-metalhead. The compilations I've listened to over the years that include both the mindlessly goofy and cheesy hair stuff and the independent and more underground fare have never really done much to sway me, but this set of rarities right here from the New York-based Megaforce Records that was issued in 1985 is legitimately the best metal exhibition that I have ever heard in my life; period.
Key highlight is a patently insane piece of thrash metal, but somehow it's not on YouTube, so instead I'll link to my second favorite highlight from this album, which is a previously unreleased auditioned version of a song by one of the most iconic metal bands of all time:
Anthrax - "Panic"
