30 Day Character Dev Challenge: Day 17

Do they have any particular fetishes or kinks? Valorn has a thing for blindfolds and hand-binding. He also enjoys sounding.

What’s the strangest thing they've ever done in bed? Strange is a relative term, considering his arms. He has had Cyrus sound him with her tongue, I guess that could count.

Is there anything in particular that they won’t do? Anything dealing with bodily waste or dismemberment. A little bloodletting is fine though, that happens when your lover is a vampire.

What are they attracted to in a partner? Valorn prefers taller partners and likes that they be at least somewhat athletic. He also likes partners who have something out of the ordinary with them.

30 Day Character Dev Challenge: Day 16

Hahah! I'm early today!

Sex and Romance:

What is their sexual orientation? Valorn is pansexual

Do they ever question it? Actually he questions why other orientations even exist. In his words: "It shouldn't matter what they are physically and/or mentally, so long as there is a loving connection between the two of you."

When did they lose their virginity? Who to? Where? What was it like? Valorn lost his virginity to Cyrus, shortly after arriving at the Ryder Manor. She fucked him both physically and mentally, and ended up giving him a sex drive to match her own.

What is their favorite sexual fantasy? Basically for all of his friends to drop their walls (and pants) and just have a huge orgy. Sex isn't just beautiful and fun, but it is also a great social activity if people would just push their boundaries a little.

30 Day Character Dev Challenge: Day 15

Who is their closest friend, and why? Valorn's closest friend growing up was a Shark-Wolf hybrid named Ruston. However, he sacrificed himself to seal HUMAW's portal for leaving their homeworld. Later he made friends with a Dragon Mage named Ember, who also sacrificed himself, this time to save Valorn and his company from several undead beasts. He later rose as a Lich, with a resentment toward Valorn.

Valorn's current closest friend is Taz, the unluckiest siamese cat. He was the first person Valorn met after leaving his homeworld, and took him in. Taz as been traveling with Valorn ever since.

What do they like to do with this person? Valorn and Taz spend time playing games and sparing most of the time.

Do they have any rivals? Who and why? The closest thing to a rival Valorn ever had was his dark-half, Ebon. While they were sharing the same body, they were always fighting for control. Then once Ebon got his own body, he did whatever he could to antagonize Valorn, so long as it wouldn't get him killed.

Have they ever been betrayed? By who, and how did it affect them? Valorn met Amethyst when she was sent by HUMAW to infiltrate the rebellion. She passed herself off as a masseuse and spent a lot of time getting close to him, in an attempt to assassinate him. He eventually found this out when HUMAW attacked his base as she was making her move. He escaped, and then met her again years later, where she apologized and they became friends, though Valorn refused to let her get close to him again.

30 Day Character Dev Challenge: Day 14

Bah, I'm a little late again.

Do they, or have they in the past, had a mentor? Valorn trained directly under a General named Dayrian.

What was their relationship with this person, and how has it changed since then? Dayian and Valorn didn't really have much of a relationship outside of training. Later on though, it was Dayrian who was assigned to "interrogate" Valorn, beating him nearly to death. The two were then the heads of opposite armies during Valorn's rebellion. Years later the met again, and Valorn beat him and spared his life. He now travels with Valorn because he owes him a life-debt, though he still resents him.

What sort of education have they had? Do they want more? Valorn was only given the equivalent education to a GED, as that was all he needed to be a soldier. He also always happy to learn, but he seeks out knowledge at his own pace.

Who was their idol growing up? Who was the first person they fantasized about? Dayrian was Valorn's idol growing up. He always imagined himself working directly below Dayrian until his passing, after which he would become HUMAW's general.

Completely out of it, he felt the claws around his arm, his left eye being the only one that currently worked. The Sin would hear the demon mumble something as he was pulled from the flames, laying now on his back and staring up at the blurry sky. “…Si-Simon…” He whispered, his body slowly starting to put itself together as he lay on the grass. “Harrlet.”

"Sorry, no clue who that is..." Now out of the blinding light of the flames, Wrath got a better look of his rescuee. He raised a brow as he watched the body regenerating in the grass, as well as looking at all of the 'adornments' on the body. "Well, you're certainly no mortal. The question is then, who or what are you?" he said taking a closer look at the side of his face that was still covered in pins.

OPEN - Cleansing of the Devil

They say fire has the power to cleanse. Burn away the old weeds so the world may be reborn anew. They also say that fire has the power to destroy; just like everything else, the humans believe they can control it. If it can be controlled… it can be contained. It can be …suppressed.

But like all things the humans think they have tamed… everything comes to an end.

Never bite the hand that feeds.

So in the dead of night, the barn was roaring with flames. Sirens in the distance.  He knew he had to get out. Had to get free. Had to be …

Had to be… released.

Wrath caught scent of the fire long before he heard the sirens. He was letting his curiosity get the better of him; "Probably just an accident," the red wyvern told himself, "but there's a chance I may find some delicious rage to feed off of." He continued flying in the direction of the fire, only landing once he noticed a figure in the flames. He braved the flames and grabbed their arm, dragging them out of the fire, "Poor bastard, but if you live, perhaps you can get some vengeance that I can feed on."

30 Day Character Dev Challenge: Day 13

Where (and when) did they grow up? I mentioned before that Valorn grew up in a paramilitary science laboratory. They called themselves "Humanoids United for the Manufacturing of Advanced Weaponry" or HUMAW for short. As for time, it was in the mid 2100-ish period. The world had just gotten out of a World War, and tensions were still high. 

How did they view it as a child, and did that change as they matured? Valorn enjoyed HUMAW as a child, living a Spartan-esque life, being trained to be the greatest soldier from a young age. However, as he grew up he realised that HUMAW had an agenda for world domination that would have him fighting those he grew up and trained with, because either he or they would be sold to world powers in efforts to instigate another World War.

How do they feel about the place now? Around his mid-teens, Valorn rebelled against HUMAW and was taken for "interrogation" where he was nearly beaten to death. The only thing that saved him was the awakening of Ebon, who took control of him and broke him out. Once outside the lab, Valorn tracked down other escaped experiments and formed a rebellion against them.

Since then, both his rebellion and HUMAW have been all but wiped out. The only remaining HUMAW labs are expeditionary bases set up on other worlds, including his new home of Magica. They've sworn to have turned over a new leaf, but Valorn doesn't trust them and keeps a close eye on their actions, ready to end them if they do anything he doesn't approve of.

30 Day Character Dev Challenge: Day 12

Oops, I'm a day late.

Describe their best and worst memories from childhood.

Worst - The loss of his arms: He was used as a test subject for an experimental fast healing injection. They put filters on his shoulders to prevent it from flowing throughout his body before injecting him. Immediately after the injection, he began screaming in pain. The formula was causing his body to generate tissue at an accelerated rate, even though there was no tissue to replace.

The buildup of tissues was stretching his skin and compressing his nerves and blood vessels. To keep it from killing him, they had to use a poison they'd developed to prevent natural regeneration. With the filters still in place, only his arms lost the ability to heal naturally and they began the slow process of rotting away.

After a few months, Valorn lost complete use of his arms and sick of looking at (and smelling) them, he found a way to tear them off. Then, with only the shoulder mounted filters keeping from bleeding out, he made his way to the lab they had done this to him. Which leads to...

Best - New, better arms: Since the regeneration incident, the lab had been working on replacement arms for him knowing he would need them eventually. They gave him a choice between standard cybernetics and new, experimental bio-engineered pseudopods. Seeing as he was in this because of an experiment to begin with, he opted for the experimental arms.

In surgery they removed the remnants of his old arms, down to the should cuffs. Here they inserted what looked like small crimson squids, which they then grafted his neuromuscular system to. Over several more months, the cephalopods grew in his arm sockets with their tentacles extending from where Valorn's arms would've been. It took time for him to learn to use them, and even longer to learn to fight with them. But he was happy to go through with it, not just because he loved to train (especially with things he never had before), but also because he'd learned that they were polymorphic.

Each tentacle was able to change into various useful forms, such as eyes, sharp-edges, multiple small needles, etc. However, they could not form more complex shapes in unison, in fact it took him several weeks alone to learn how make them into a normal-ish looking arm. Still he enjoyed the challenge and the chance to create a new martial art based around his new arms.

30 Day Character Dev Challenge: Day 11

What were they like as a child? Valorn in his youth was energetic and impressionable. He always looked up to all those around him, both soldier and scientist alike.

What was their favorite toy? Growing up in a barracks, Valorn didn't have any toys. The closest thing he had to one were training weapons, of which his favorite was a battle hammer that he modified to have an axe-like blade on one side. Later in life when he made his own real weapon, he created it based off this design.

Favorite game? As part of his training, Valorn was made to play many tactical simulation games. He most enjoyed ones that featured squad combat over those where he had to determine tactics for entire armies.

Playmates? Valorn's best friend growing up was a shark-wolf hybrid named Ruston, who was created in a similar fashion to how Valorn himself was born. They spent much of their time racing each other and sparing in underwater environments, which is where Valorn got his start on mastering exotic environments.

What did they want to be when they grew up? Valorn knew from early in life that he would be a soldier, and he never wanted be anything more than the best soldier in HUMAW's army.

30 Day Character Dev Challenge: Day 10

I did do this one yesterday, but tumblr ate it.

Relationships and history:

What is their family history like? How does it affect them? Having been artificially created in a lab, Valorn doesn't really have any family history to speak of. His family only consists of himself, two brothers, two sisters and his daughter.

How do they feel about their family? How does their family feel about them? Valorn isn't sure what to feel about his family, as he has only know them for a few years each. Valorn and his siblings were separated at birth and were not made aware of each others existence until about 20 years later, when Miranda and Orsino were contracted hunt down and kill Valorn. His other brother and sister were stillborn and his daughter was created from harvested reproductive material of his and Miranda's.

Valorn is most comfortable around Miranda, as she betrayed their creators upon discovering they were related and his been with him for years since then.

Orsino on the other hand continued to hunt Valorn despite this, due to an obedience program in the cybernetic half of his brain. While the program was removed later, Valorn hasn't gotten over having been shot twice by his brother. Orsino regrets his actions in the past, but was unable to help himself. His understands Valorn's feeling and does what he can for him in recompence.

As for his daughter, Freya, he feels awkward around her. Not just because he wasn't around her while she was growing up, but also because the time difference between the worlds while Valorn was traveling resulted in her actually being older than he is by the time they finally met (Valorn being around 23 at the time, while Freya was pushing thirty). Freya somewhat looks down on her parents, as she feels she has matured more than they have, acting almost motherly toward them.

30 Day Character Dev Challenge: Day 9

How are they with technology? Valorn is very familiar with technology. He knows his away around a computer fine, but he doesn't know enough to qualify as an IT.

Are they specially qualified in any particular field? Would they be considered at the top of the field? Valorn's education was only ever enough for him to get by as a soldier. While he has learned somethings on his own since then, he still really only know enough to pass a GED. The only thing he is particularly knowledgable in is fighting in exotic environments (such as Zero-G, Waist-high water and Underwater).

Have they ever been publicly acknowledged for anything? (Ex. Nobel Prize) Only as a public menace by his creators when he rebelled against them.

Is there anything they've deliberately sought to improve at? Valorn is always looking to improve his martial abilities. While he knows many martial arts, he is a master of none.

Do they speak more than one language? Valorn speaks English, and carries a button with a tongues spell enchantment that he had made while wandering across worlds. When lacking the button, Valorn uses hand gestures and body language if he needs to communicate with someone who speaks an unfamiliar language.

30 Day Character Dev Challenge: Day 8

What are some of your character’s more notable merits and flaws (including physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, etc.)? Gonna break this down to each listed type.

Physical: Having been created artificially as a super-soldier, Valorn's physicality seems almost god-like to most mundane people. He's able to function after losing more than two-thirds of the blood in his body. His bones are nearly impossible to break and he can endure using them even after they have. His aorta and heart were relocated to below the diaphragm, not only throwing off aiming for lethal body-shots against him, but also allowing his lungs to fill the gap, giving him greater lung capacity.

Mental: Through most of his life, Valorn has had to deal with a dissociative identity disorder; though it was supernatural in nature rather than mental. His personalities were essentially his Yin and Yang. The Yin being Valorn himself, while the Yang called itself Ebon.

Emotional: As stated above, Valorn's mind was split into two sides. Valorn himself was very stable and level-headed, almost to the point of being cold and numb. His other side, Ebon, on the other hand was extremely aggressive and very quick to anger.

Spiritual: Despite having met the goddesses of his world and gods of other worlds, along with other supernatural beings, Valorn is not a spiritual person himself, but doesn't have any issue with anyone who is.

How did they develop? Valorn's physical traits were carefully crafted during his development, while his mentality was part nurturing and part accidental. Ebon is actually an supernatural entity of darkness who was possessing one of the DNA "donors" for Valorn and his siblings. Through the donation he was passed on to them, although Valorn was the only one he manifested in for much of their lives.

Having been raised in a paramilitary science community with the intent of being a soldier, Valorn was never exposed to religion during his developmental years.

How has this helped or hindered them in the past? His physicality has been essential through most of his life, as he has spent most of it fighting and adventuring. Ebon, however, has been as much of a boon as he has been a bane. The threat of Ebon taking control has been an issue for much of Valorn's life, which is part of why he tries to maintain an emotional numbness.

On the other hand, Ebon's first appearance helped Valorn escape from his creators while they were preparing to execute him. Ebon also gave up his power to take control of Valorn in order to keep him from dying, though this was because Valorn's death would've killed him as well.

30 Day Character Dev Challenge: Day 7

Where does your character live? Currently, Valorn lives in the Ryder Mansion on the planet Magica. Before that, Valorn and his friends simply lived where ever they had set up their "camp" on which ever world they were visiting at the time. The term camp is used loosely here, as it could be anything from some tents in the wilds to squatting in an abandoned building.

Why did they choose it, and how did they acquire it? Valorn is a guest of the house. Shortly after arriving on Magica, Valorn was harassed by a couple Draconians and saved by a vampire named Lossarin. Lossarin took him to the mansion and talked with Vixen, the owner. They set him up with a room, along with his friends once they arrived.

How do they handle intruders (graciously? violently?)? Describe the space. Depends on their intent. Obviously violent intruders are dealt with just as violently. Otherwise they are given a chance to explain themselves, and if they refuse or their explanation isn't favorable to them, then they are forced to leave.

30 Day Character Dev Challenge: Day 6

Why do they have their resources? (Ex. Contacts, money, political power, fame, etc.) Valorn's only real resources are his contacts, if you want to refer to his friends and acquaintances as that. Valorn went through minor espionage training at one point in his life, and one of the major things he remembers from it is that he should strive to keep as many people on his side as possible. The reason being that you never know when you might need a favor that only one person you know can provide.

How long have they had them, and how have they served the character over time? All of Valorn's friends are fairly recent additions to his life. He met all of the after leaving his homeworld and all of the friends he had on that world died either before or after he left.

30 Day Character Dev Challenge: Day 5

Resources and abilities:

Where did they learn their abilities? Valorn was raised by a paramilitary scientific community. They specialized in creating and training genetically modified soldiers.

If they have an income, where does it come from? Valorn has little need for income. When the need arises, he offers to train others in the mixed martial arts and military tactics that he knows, in order to make some cash.

Do they have a job? Do they like it? How do they feel about their co-workers? Valorn has no job aside from helping his friends with their problems if they ask him. As stated above, he occasionally trains others for money. He has no real co-workers to speak of, but he is a very strict and harsh trainer to those learning from him.

30 Day Character Dev Challenge: Day 4

Favorites and habits:

What are some of your character’s hobbies? What do they do with their time? Valorn spends much of his time working out and practicing MMA so as not to get rusty.

Favorite color? While being the red cabbit, Valorn's favorite color is actually blue. More specifically cerulean.

Favorite music artists? Movies or TV shows? Books or authors? Actors? Valorn is a big fan of many kinds of music, but prefers anything with a good, fast-paced beat that he can train to. As far as Books and Motions Pictures, he prefers anything with a fantasy setting. Dramas are okay from time to time. He can't get into Sci-Fi, because he was raised in a science facility (which he loathes) and it just reminds him of being there. He often watches military programs to both study and argue strategy.

Political stance? Are they active in politics or do they not care? Valorn absolutely hates politics and does his best to keep his distance from it. In his own words "Just a bunch of greedy assholes stabbing each other in the back with a smile on both their faces."

What are some of their pet peeves? Valorn's biggest peeve is people who put too much into appearances. In his words: "Aesthetics are nice... When they don't get in the way of functionality."

What sort of gifts do they like? Valorn doesn't put much stock into material possessions for the most part. He is big on puzzles and strategy games and would enjoy receiving them on an occasion.

What is their favorite time of day? Favorite weather? Season? Time of day: Dusk, Weather: Overcast. Season: Either of the transitional seasons.

Where do they like to spend their time? Either in the company of friends or someplace where he can train. If he can have both, it's a bonus.

Favorite food? Favorite drink? Hot drinks, soft drinks, or alcohol? Valorn was raised on a prey model diet. He prefers meats, raw and bloody with bones. He most often eats sashimi as it is easier on the stomachs of those around him. For a drink he prefers milk over anything else. Hot drink: He prefers strong coffees. Soft Drink: Rich, dark colas. Alcohol? Anything in the Whiskey family.

Favorite animal? Wolf probably, because he was taught wolf hunting tactics early on in his formal tactics training.

Do they have any pets? Do they want any? Technically no, Valron doesn't have any pets. Though he would say the Sins are his pets, as he was the one to "tame" them and feels he is responsible for them.

What relaxes them? Valorn relaxes by spending time with his lovers.

Do they have any bad habits? Valorn has become a bit of a sex addict in recent times. His friends blame his lover, Cyrus, for this.

30 Day Character Dev Challenge: Day 3 (I'm not late! Shhhh...)

Choose a different time period and describe what your character would have been like in that time period.

Valorn, along with his siblings, in the medieval times would be human and likely have stronger family bonds instead of having been separated at birth. If they retained similar sets of skills, they would likely work together as assassins. Valorn himself would be the one to get close to a target and kill them in the open as a public display. When not tracking targets to kill, Valorn would likely be smithing weapons for his siblings and himself.
