just a quick update on this: i tweeted this to both pappy and peter sung (who tweeted he was the one in charge of wildstar’s steam implementation) on twitter, he responded with

it’s so great to see a wildstar flick again, it’s been a while and i’ve missed the humour.

also i wish they’d give us the resources to make our own flicks and then maybe sort of hold community competitions with merch and in-game rewards, that’d be great.

Dropping the Faction Barrier

The Carbine devs are currently engaging in community discussion about dropping the Faction Barrier. This is huge and I genuinely suggest everyone go on there to discuss it so the people in charge can know what we all want out of this.

People saying that they can not drop the faction barrier at all ever because of lore got me like…

Granted, I’m no lore aficionado myself when it comes to Wildstar’s lore, but there seems to be quite a few viable options presented in the first 3 pages alone. Like it has been expressed many times, Exile and Dominion don’t need to suddenly hold hands and sing Kumbaiya - they just need to tolerate each other enough to combat a greater threat. Which is entirely feasible. Other games have done it to varying degrees in the past and to suggest that Wildstar -can’t- pull that off is rather insulting to the story writers XD

I totally agree with that. Lore can lead in a direction where the faction barrier drops, or, at least, get way thinner. The faction barrier could even still exists in lower level zones, and only be dropped once you get a character through a specific storyline where a ceasefire is signed.

Tholnai Flickerspore’s house

Recently I’ve worked a lot on Tholnai’s plot, mainly to turn it into a cosy place for casual RP with friends. 

Tholnai coming from some of the dampest, hottest Wikren marshes of Arboria, he decided to settle in the swamps of Dreadmoor (the zone south of Illium, that is still to be released, but the few screenshots people have of it inspired me to use the willow trees for this swamp). The exterior is very simple, but I think I managed to give the feeling of going through a bog pretty well anyway.

I really wanted to give this ‘small house’ feeling, so I choose the Cosy Aurin House - turns out you can still fit a lot of things in there! I still haven’t used the adjacent room (the way to it is barred, as seen in the first kitchen shot), and yet I managed to put everything needed for a home in there.

The first floor is very open, with a small but complete kitchen, a round table for meals, and pillows around the fireplace.

The second floor holds a bathroom (which I couldn’t take a nice shot of, due to it being kinda small, but it has a bathtub that fills with KBT’s new interactable function!), a sort of reading/tea cave, shelves, and a large planter.

I didn’t get any shot of the third floor because it’s a relatively regular bedroom without any special feature worth seeing.

Last night was Bone Reading night in celebration for the New Moon at the @fenwarders  ‘ place!

Tholnai met a lot of lovely people as he waited for his turn, but the reading itself made him quite nervous.

Now, to make plans to match that prediction in RP in the future..!

Thol spent some time at the Stillriver Teahouse last night, in good company!

Loooots of chat scroll so I had a hard time really interacting with everyone around the table, but at least, Tholnai got all excited about going to the Swampie New Moon event - even if Quilu refused to let in any hint of what it was all about!

Wildstar Question:

Hey folks, I was wondering, since I haven’t found the answer anywhere else yet… Does anyone know if a Snowy Hill can be clipped into/over the housing teleporter like folks do with Mangrove Tree (Massive)s? I’ve been trying to work with the Snowy Hill but it just isn’t playing very nice right now. I don’t want to have to spend the 4p if I don’t have to for a Mangrove.

I have yet to get the snowy hill to work for that.  So far only the massive umbrella tree and the beer taps to work and the beer taps will not pick up the ground texture.

Thank you, Desai! Time to hang up trying to rig that. and get myself yet another Umbrella, which I derpily mis-typed the wrong tree because tired. I can always keep the hill for a slope leading up to something anyways.

Yes you can, but it needs to be pretty huge.

EDIT: WELL I WASN’T FAST ENOUGH APPARENTLY! But here it is on my blog anyway, for anyone else to get it :P Also it works with a few other items, like a a grey rock and the osun basin.
