Chaotic Calm || Pippa & Aurora
blindingthelight:
The town was always bustling, no matter the time. It was when the surge of tourists came for the holiday festivities that made everything seem so crowded in the small town. Many have arrived early for the Halloween events and while most didn’t mind the company, like Aurora, some always had issues getting used to the crowds. And with the crowds, often came negative energy. As if the town needed any more of that hovering around, polluting.
Aurora had been out shopping herself, however, most for nourishment than festivities and rituals. A canvas tote bag hung off her shoulders, filled with vegetables of all kinds, protein in the form of chicken along with some legumes. Aurora expertly weaved in and around the crowd, attempting to avoid all contact with anyone until the Fates decided against her plan. She had seen the other woman clip her shoulder and watched as she spun, attempting to correct her poise before Aurora’s mind recognized that the woman was turning toward her. With no time to react, Aurora grunted softly at the sudden impact of the woman against her. “No, no. No apologies needed.” Flashing an all-too-white smile, Aurora hefts up her own bag onto her shoulder. “Tourist season is upon us once again, it would seem. Only seems right that they would be here as well.” She offered a hand outward, to gesture toward the shops. “I do wish they would learn manners, though. A simple excuse me would go such a long way.” A harmless complaint from the Titan, smile still on her face.
Pippa’s natural reaction was to step back from the person whose personal space she’s accidentally invaded and she’d done just that. It allowed her to catch her breath and center her energy, which was knocked off balance while she moved through the town. It wasn’t just the man who had knocked her off kilter that did it, either. All the darkness that strangled the light messed with the white goddess. She tried not to venture out because her ability to keep it from seeping in was less.
She flicked at a few wrinkles on her outfit and looked up when the woman spoke. She hadn’t really been paying attention to who she ran into. There were few in this town she felt the need to notice, but this one, she had noticed. The energy that swirled her was old, but not just old. Ancient. Pippa’s mind went blank for a moment as she processed that she was standing in front of another creature as old as she. It was a rarity in this time and age, but in this town, it was more likely than other places. “How right you are,” she said smoothly. “Manners is an art lost on people nowadays.” She looked to be in her late twenties, but the way she spoke was of someone that had been around far longer.
“It’ll likely remain like this until spring, sadly.” She was not fond of tourists, though, she was found of the food source they provider her. Their energy, their vanity, was always plenty enough to keep her going. It was, after all, easier to snatch a year from many than to sacrifice a human’s entire life. It didn’t alert authorities, either.
