Physics and Photography

Above are the winning entries of the first-ever Brookhaven Lab’s Photowalk. In September, the Brookhaven National Lab invited 50 photographers to a behind-the-scenes tour of the laboratory, showing them five usually inaccessible Lab facilities. These amateur and professional photographers were given insight into cutting-edge experiments and instruments, as well as the design and engineering behind them. Out of 100 entries, these were the winners—and they certainly capturing the unravelling mysteries of particle physics in new, striking ways.

+81 Magazine

Lo Siento is a small studio based in Barcelona, Spain. When tasked to create the cover of Japan’s +81 Magazine with the theme “Next creativity” they got creative. Using bubble wrap and coloured water they created the piece above. I’m a firm believer in mixed media and getting your hands dirty. This project is a great example of how you can produce something extremely beautiful without relying full on a computer.

I learned very early the difference between knowing the name of something and knowing something.
