Two Rings
The carriage stopped. This was it. She had arrived. The driver came around and opened her door. She took his hand and stepped down from the carriage. Millions of thought ran through her mind as she walked up the steps to the church. What if I say something wrong? Or if I trip? Or If I forget how to read when it’s time for the vows? I hope I look alright… What if my lipstick is the wrong shade? What if my hair is messed up? She considered for a moment going back to the carriage and trying to find something to check her reflection, but the doors of the church began to open. She quickly made her way up the steps and stood there, in full view of the church. She began to feel her nerves kicking in, as Erik came to her side and took her arm. “You look beautiful.” He said with a smile. “Thor is a very lucky man.”
Jane began to blush, “Thanks, Erik.” “Are you ready, Jane?” “Yes,” a smile spread across her face as she made eye contact with Thor and the nerves began to fade away. “Yes I am.”
Thors heart jumped. He saw the doors swing open and the organ player began playing the entrance song. He couldn’t believe the time had come for his betrothal.
His heart was beating a thousand beats a minute and his mind was racing.
It was time.
There she was, she looked beautiful as she rounded the corner. Erik was there, but Thor barely noticed him now. His focus was only on Jane. Thor nearly melted into a puddle. She was beautiful. Everything paled against her beauty. And she was all his, he had never been happier.
Thor could only smile.
The doors parted. Jane took one step inside of the church, her hands shaking. She looked up to the altar of the church- There he was- she had to look away. Jane knew she would cry if she continued to look at him. As she made her way up the aisle, she noticed her friends and family all around. There was Darcy, in the first row, beaming with excitement. Jane smiled back, and then set her gaze on Thor. She couldn’t keep her eyes off him anymore. She turned to and hugged Erik, and then he put her hand in Thor’s. He turned and stood beside Darcy. Jane turned toward Thor, happy tears in her eyes. Here we are… she mouthed to him. Are you ready?
Thor smiled and nodded back at her. This it seemed was the culmination of everything he had done up unto this point. Even his partial crowning to be king paled to this moment. This moment. This moment was divine.
All Thor could do was find himself lost in Jane's eyes.
