News About Chapter 2
Hello Everyone, I wanted to give all of our readers a quick update about the status of the comic. The good news is, we are still working hard on it, and you will be seeing new updates from us within the next month. The even better news is that the new chapter (and the rest of the storyline) is going to be so much more compelling than we originally planned. As a team we realized we were not happy with the direction our story was headed. We did some brainstorming, some world-building, and some long-term planning, and we're confident the result is going to be worth the wait. In the meantime, we're happy to announce that the full-color print edition of Chapter 1: An Elf Named Kate is available for purchase on Amazon. The entire chapter has been beautifully painted in watercolor, and it's absolutely spectacular. You can buy it by following the link below: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/1519663641/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1459175690&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=an+elf+named+kate Thank you so much to the people who have stuck with our comic thus far, and to those of you who will support us in the future, Stephanie Mendez Post

https://www.patreon.com/nadine This is our final page for chapter one! It’s in watercolor as a teaser for the print edition, which will be full color just like this. All of this is painted using just watercolors over the ink that we used as the line work for the screen toned pages of the webcomic. We are taking a few weeks off to prepare the print edition. All of the pages need to get this same treatment, after all. We will also be getting ready for Chapter 2! The print version will be available on December 14th and we will be starting chapter 2 around that time as well. Chapter 2 will focus more on our rag-tag team of adventurers Thank you for reading our humble first comic. We hope it made you smile. We created this comic because we believed that there was something missing from your typical comics. The three of us involved in the production of this comic all identify as Latina, but we are all also mixed race. So, we live in the space where people make racist comments about our families to our faces and expect us to agree. We are used to having our stories overlooked and oversimplified. We are used to our cultures being the butt of the joke. We are used to seeing people like us only as background characters, rarely even significant side characters, in American media. Things are getting better out there, but publishing is usually a few years behind the times. Even in comics, which have a relatively fast turnaround, it can take a while for change to happen. Sometimes you have to take it into your own hands to say “white people aren’t the only people who have these experiences.” And in some genres it feels like you have to yell out loud “White people aren’t the only people!” Fantasy is a genre in which this is especially true. And on top of that it’s a boy’s club. The creation of a fantasy world that had a place for women of color was our inspiration. That same inclusive thinking is our guiding star as we plan for future comics. We are awed and humbled to have anyone at all spend their time reading our comic, let alone to receive the feedback we have. A special shout out to the amazing people who preordered the comic at Anime Weekend Atlanta. Your enthusiastic support reminds us why we made this comic in the first place. Thank you all. See you again for Chapter 2! - Barbara Hernandez Editor in Chief, Dragon Bros Media
Hey so I just found out about this comic and they haven’t updated since finishing chapter one but I have high hopes and maybe if I share this awesome thing you all will check it out and encourage them all to keep going! Because I really want to see what comes of an elf named Kate and her awesome troop of adventurers!
Just wanted to let you all know that we haven't abandoned our comic. We decided we weren't satisfied with the way our story was progressing so we did a massive re-write.
Take my word for it when I say that the three of us are even more in love with the project than we were before, and you can look forward to updates from us again soon.
In the meantime, the full color print version of our comic is now available for sale on Amazon. Thanks to you and all our other readers for sticking with us this far.

Hi there! I got my email for the print comic shipping and tried to fill it out, but the form won't let me choose Kate for a print. Any idea why?
Because I didn’t read the form building instructions carefully, that’s why. Thanks for letting us know! I fixed it, now.

https://www.patreon.com/nadine Most wood elves are above violence, so add “goes for the kill” to the list of things that make Kate a poor fit for Willowspyre. Only one page left to go!

https://www.patreon.com/nadine Kate appears! Looks like she’s taking a chance on adventure rather than tending the great tree for the rest of her life. Just as a head’s up: we only have one more week ( 2 pages) left of chapter 1! After next Friday, we will be taking a short hiatus to color and print the comic. The release date for the full-color print version of chapter 1 is December 14th. We will also be story boarding our next chapter! More on that next week!

https://www.patreon.com/nadine They seem so glamorous and exciting somehow. In just a few minutes they rolled in and turned Kate’s whole night on it’s head. Adventures are like potato chips, though. You can never have just one. Right? That’s a thing, right?

https://www.patreon.com/nadine Too much too late! Thank goodness the falcon took the map out of harm’s way. The chief is done--there is no saving the party now, but Kate impressed the tall warrior woman.

The party is completely ruined, guys. Thanks for sticking in there as we took last week off to prepare for the convention! Next time around the comic will be published so we won't have to prepare other merchandise. In case you didn't know, we're going to be printing a beautiful watercolor version of the comic. Our scheduled release date is 12/14/15, but we may have it available even more often so keep an eye out for updates.

This has turned into a very exciting party! The bar has truly been raised tonight for every other soiree in Willowspyre.

The rogues barge in and ruin the party! It looks like these are the guys our adventurers were chasing. And they take the chief hostage? Rude!

Kate arrives at her party and looks beautiful but painfully out awkward.
This page through us for a loop. It has so many people, each with their own design, so it took a lot of time to go from concept storyboard to full sketch.

Right in the feels. And isn't Calveyrian just the best? Such a supportive dad. He really understands Kate. And maybe that's why he's "Dad" but Amyrestis is "Mother."

I hope you didn't forget about Kate! She's still a little sore from, you know, being a constant disappointment to her mother but she has to get ready for her birthday party. Not that any of this was her idea
