Moving...

Okay, I’m moving this blog to fromphocion. I’m not dropping any threads of anyone who continues to follow me on that blog. I’ll be back to this blog now and then to gather threads and stuff, but aside from that, I won’t be RPing here anymore or posting anything other than this notice about moving blogs.

Note: I will not be upset or throw a fit if someone decides not to follow me over there. I am making this new start because I want to feel like I can be without some of the old baggage and start again. The entire point is to leave behind drama and never post about it again, even as rarely as I already do. Please don’t follow unless it’s out of an interest in RPing with my Alexander or following his threads or whatever. If looking at my posts annoys you etc, this is a good way to escape all of that!

So i’m going to remake this blog. There are some things that have been making me stressed out here, so I’m hoping a little change will help. A good opportunity for people who have wanted to unfollow or whatever to get out without any issues, etc.

It’s hilarious to watch the backlash of Conservatives against Hamilton (and building of support for Jefferson) who didn’t like the musical. I mean...

A neat tidbit about Clyde Wilson from Wikipedia:

The Southern Poverty Law Center has listed Wilson among the "ideologues" of the neo-Confederate movement, stating that he told Gentleman's Quarterly in 1998 that "We don't want the federal government telling us what to do, pushing integration down our throats... We're tired of carpetbagging professionals coming to our campuses and teaching that the South is a cultural wasteland."

1. That’s probably the best Jay has ever looked. Which is saying something.

2. Who made Madison tall and intimidating? He was a 5′4′’ wheezy little nerd.

3. SOMEONE PARTIALLY DEFLATED ALEXANDER, SEND HELP.

4. All three of these people were getting along when these were written, yet Alexander has to be put off to the side getting glared at. Just let him have friends.

It is truly fascinating to see how people take Alexander Hamilton out of context to make their points. I’ve seen people take lines of his letters to argue Hamilton was against democratic elections because he didn’t want Jefferson to become president. I’ve seen SO MANY small excerpts of letters used to “prove” Hamilton was a steadfast supporter of the Alien and Sedition Acts. And now this:

“All of the founders, even the least orthodox, expressed a belief in an afterlife characterized by divine rewards and punishments that was clearly based on biblical teaching. This belief provided the founders with priceless consolation for the deaths of their loved ones and motivated them to hazard all for their fellow citizens. Alexander Hamilton’s confidence in the existence of such an afterlife led him to sacrifice his life rather than return Aaron Burr’s gunfire in their famous duel.”

I mean, this article doesn’t bother to actually quote him to take him out of context here, but oh man. Also, if you read the rest of the article, you’ll find the author doesn’t imagine Hamilton is one of the least orthodox; he imagines he was a biblically orthodox Christian. But this is also one of those people who argues that Christians freed the slaves (while ignoring that Christians also used the Bible to defend slavery) so... not a reliable source.

Honestly, all I want is ONE objective reading of the founders’ religious beliefs. It’d be super interesting! But no, everyone has to have a fucking agenda.

Can we please talk about Angelica Hamilton????

Angelica Hamilton, the second born to Eliza and Alexander Hamilton, named after Angelica Schuyler. She was said to be very outgoing and charming, and while Phillip learned to play piano from Eliza, Angelica and Alexander were really really close, and Alex taught her to play piano himself. The piano they used was given to her by the original Angelica, and is still is around today. 

But the thing people remember her most for, was her breakdown.

She and Phillip were the best of friends growing up, and when Phillip died in the duel, she had an CATASTROPHIC mental breakdown. Her brain was altered and she had the mind of a child for the rest of her life.

When this happened to her, Alexander was horrified. It’s said that at Phillip’s funeral, he was so sad he couldn’t even stand, yet for that entire fall, he bought everything to make Angelica comfortable and doted on her every whim to see if they could help her.

Angelica wouldn’t recognize any of them at all, and would frequently speak of Phillip as though he was still alive.

Eliza took care of her for many years until it got to be too much for her and Angelica was placed in the care of a doctor.

She lived to be 73, and outlived her mother by 2 years.

The only thing she retained from childhood after the breakdown, was her piano. She still owned the same piano and would still play the same songs Alexander taught her as a child.

would alexander cry when sending his kids off to college?

Not at all. He’d be so damn proud of them he’d be bouncing off the walls. But he’d also require that they called home daily and answered his texts in a reasonable amount of time (1 hour) and kept to a strict studying schedule and kept their grades up and came home on holidays and some weekends.

He would cry at weddings, though. Mostly happy tears, but still.

I just sit with my oldest daughter and I think... I should’ve protected her better. I sit with my youngest son and I think I never want him to hurt. I just want to shield them from all the bad things I bring.” He clenched his jaw. “I mean... the bad things my job brings.”

He didn’t say these things very often, but Lenora had seen more of what he went through when Philip died than anyone other than Elizabeth. She’d been there when he got the news he’d been shot. He’d kept in contact with her after Philip was gone. He wanted her to understand.

If things went wrong tomorrow, he wanted her to understand.
