“My worst thing…” Isaac whispered as his hands tightened around the glass of water. What was this worst thing? Did his work for Aeon count then? Or was it just in his personal life? It was too confusing to sort out with alcohol swirling round his system.
Hearing the light padding of feet Isaac looked up to see a black cat headed towards him. “Noir? No…you’re not my baby. You too big to be her.” He got up and held out a hand for her to sniff. “What’s your name sweetie? Do you live here with Ginti? Bet you keep him in line, don’t you.” For now his mind was effectively off the topic of death and murder and focused solely on the cat.
“Am I allows to pet you?” He dared to move a hand towards her back and tried to stroke her.
Memine sniffed Isaac’s hand, curious. He was a little different than the other people who usually came through, but she didn’t seem to sense anything particularly dangerous. After a tick or two, she pushed her head forward into Isaac’s hand. She is a friendly cat.
Ginti’s mouth twitched to one side - his jealous streak making an appearance, if Isaac is able to notice. “She doesn’t really live here,” Ginti explained, because there was no way he would ever do something as sentimental as keeping a cat for companionship. Besides, it was sort of true: Memine was a bit of a wanderer. Didn’t mean that Ginti didn’t worry himself sick over her when that happened, but certainly, Memine wasn’t...his. “Her name’s Memine.”

“…two dead boys?” Wait. What. Granted, that usually happened, but Ginti didn’t have anyone on his schedule for right now.
Completely missing what the red head said both young men stepped out of the elevator and blinked, both blanking on how they had got here.
“Excuse me um, just where are we?” Twelve questioned the bartender quietly, while Nine naturally began scoping out the place looking for any possible exits if they needed to move quickly.
“You’re on the 15th floor,” Ginti said. “Just sit down, there’s no way out except the elevator. And it ain’t coming back until this place is done with you.” Shouldn’t be too long, Ginti just needed to make a phone call. Hm. No memories. These boys weren’t dead. Not technically.
“Hey,” he called to the other kid, the stoic one with the glasses. “You hear me?”
We are what we love.

“Hmm…” Isaac’s gaze broke off as he pondered it. Could he end up here when his time was up? He hadn’t grown an inch in the past few years, even though his genetics dictated he would be taller than his father by now. Was it possible Aeon had stopped him from aging? He kept Isaac from fully dying countless times, so perhaps he had no intention of ever letting Isaac die.
It was when Ginti stopped stumbling over his words and spoke clearly did Isaac rouse from he depths of his own mind. He nodded as Ginti explained it, knowing just how complicated it was in some courts from stories he heard and cases he read about.
“The bigger picture…so, if it is in service to humanity or not is what you judge it by.” He would be safe then, Aeon only asked him to kill to prevent disastrous alterations to the time stream, including ones that could destroy it in certain worlds.
“I guess,” Ginti said. “It’s kind of hard to do free consultations.” Without a complete set of memories, Ginti can’t make any kind of judgments. “But even us arbiters understand that actions are rarely made in a vacuum. Intention, motivation, conditions, the situation...all these things are taken into account.” It’s also why the Death Games are so arduous. “We grade on a curve, so to speak. Your absolute worst is the thing we look at most.”
There was a certain amount of gloom cast over the bar. Welp, Ginti reasoned, it’s just the facts. And there’s no guarantee Isaac will end up here, or even anywhere near wherever here is.
But here is Memine, come to investigate.

If Ginti was glad to have the drink on his behalf, Isaac wouldn’t complain! He did feel a little bad about not being able to drink it though, he’d have to give his sister heck when he saw her next. Damn that Amy.
After feeling Ginti’s eyes cast over him Isaac watched the man go to work. It reminded him of being at Eden Hall, where the bartender there could size up a person and know exactly what they needed to drink after a few words. Isaac was curious to see how skilled Ginti was at this. Seeing the tropical elements added to the drink definitely had Isaac’s interest, having grown up in a resort city.
“Thank you! It looks fantastic!” He took a small sip and ‘mmmm’ed as it came over his tongue. Much more palatable. The taste of alcohol was far less harsh, further helped by the taste of fruit. “This is wonderful, thank you. What’s the name of this drink?” He would take his time enjoying this treat~
For once, Ginti didn’t look particularly annoyed. He looked...okay. Isaac’s approval meant that he had done his job (well, one of them), and despite appearances, it’s one in which he takes a certain amount of pride.
“It’s an amaretto colada,” he explained. “A variation on the pina colada.” The redhead’s glad this one went over better - he has his reviews to think about (he doesn’t really; it’s just tough to have a job you know you can never leave nor be promoted out of). He kept sipping the g’n’t. It’s not good practice to drink on your shift but, Ginti clearly isn’t actually serving any clients. Just this visitor.
“So,” Ginti started, “what is it that you do that you can actually come here at will?”

Oh such modesty from the kindest soul to work behind a bar counter. Isaac smiled at Ginti anyways and popped another roll into his mouth. Mmmm cucumber. It was one of his favourite things to snack on. If he kept on like this then hopefully he wouldn’t be a wreak when he returned to Aeon. Hell, he may even face Page without breaking down for once.
He caught how genuine Ginti was with the command and let out a deep breath, letting his shoulder’s drop with it. “Really, thank you.” He had killed someone that day, and while he felt killing under any circumstance was wrong, he also knew Aeon only ordered it because it was for the greater good.
“Excuse me, but…I have a question.” Isaac took another sip of water, “how heavily do arbiters weigh the sin of murder?”
Ginti shrugged off Isaac’s thanks. He didn’t think a mere meal and drink were of much consolation and, therefore, not worth any thanks.
“Mm?” Ginti looked up from his task.
Interesting question. The redhead took a good look at Isaac, but recovered. “Why? You worried about meeting me under slightly different circumstances?” he snarked. The redhead sighed. “It’s not as if...” his mouth twisted. Ugh. Shop talk. “It’s more like...” Ginti scratched his head. Wow, this was harder to explain than he thought. “It’s not as simple as taking all the good things you’ve ever done and weighing them against the bad things you’ve done.” He paused, lost in thought. “Murder is a complicated legal matter in the human world because they’ve all...got these...they write down all these conditions. If this, then that. It’s a human thing. But here...it’s both more complicated and simpler. We don’t have to stick to laws that people write. We have to think of the bigger picture here.”
Ginti wasn’t sure if any of that made sense.
