one-dynamite-sergeant:
“I get enough of that from Kohut,” Calhoun muttered, only the tiniest bit resentful of her second in command’s habit of not-so-subtly hinting that she should take better care of herself. Last thing she needed was a kid taking on that duty as well. But then, Light wasn’t just a kid, was he? He was a fellow master sergeant. And probably feeling a hell of a lot more responsible for the losses of this latest crisis than he should.
“I get by,” she said more gently. “There’s never enough hours when something like this happens.”
Buzz chuckled at the mention of Kohut who was rather known at Calhoun’s right hand. “Well, that’s Kohut.” At least someone was looking after Calhoun, otherwise, that woman would work herself into the ground. They all would.
“You’re right about that,” he said, sliding lower in his seat. “I mean, even if we’d have had one extra hour of notice. “ Buzz was referencing the lack of a warning with which the meteors came. “And if I hadn’t been so reckless flying, I could’ve stopped so many more meteors, saved more people... You’re right. Never enough hours.”
