Is your asshole jealous of the shit that comes out of your mouth?
Do you know of any good schools for urban design/city planning (for grad school)? I'm starting to like the topic of cities and making urban spaces for people...
Sorry but no. A lot of schools with architecture sometimes has an urban design program or in most cases classes with pertain to city planning.
Thanks for helping me.
Did I help you across the street once?
Hello. Have a look my illustrations and graphics. Maybe you will like some of them. Beside this I am having difficulty to find other blogs or sites where I can publish-promote my kind-type of architectural drawings. I am looking for more architectural orientated Blogs and not just general illustration blogs. I am aiming to more architectural visitors. Do you have any suggestion? That would help me a lot. Thank you for help.
Check out the hauntingly/lyrical works of http://hrib.tumblr.com/
I guess that's why they call it a job "hunt". I've been there.....

Do you do all/long nighters with a beer to make them more tolerable? If yes, as a follow up question, what is your choice beer when doing so?
PSSHH, Of course! I'm a big craft brew guy, in fact I brew my own, and am somewhat of a snob when it comes to beer. Now, I would like to say that I shun away those big corporate breweries (ie. Budweiser, Coors...etc.) but when it comes down to it...those are the cheapest lol. Money, as you know, is a big factor especially in archy school so I can't be dishing out 15 bucks on a six pack every all nighter. If I had to pick, i'll go with Budweiser
Archies REPRESENT!
Oh...so that's what it stands for
an AllNighter Original
What arch school do you go to?
U of HK.... University of Hard Knocks
Are you into white chicks more or asian chicks more?
i like em big i like em small, i like em short i like em tall. Me like them all.
2012: we're gonna die so you architects need to build some sort of bunker and help us survive. Up for it?
Every person for themselves bitch!!!!!
Moneo Opinion by Scott J Archambault
Moneo's work as a architect, in my opinion, is second to his ability to frame his own ideas in the context of contemporary architecture. His book, Theoretical Anxiety and Design Strategies, offers a very comprehensive look at the development of architecture since the end of modernism. The book is essentially his lectures for his Contemporary Theory course at Harvard, so they are written very organically and its quite easy to read. Anyways, he breaks down the work of eight contemporary architects (sometimes incorrectly, however, in my opinion), but overall its a very interesting take where he frames an argument that actually building your ideas takes preference over the quality of your ideas. You can agree or disagree with that, but he projects that view onto the architects he breaks down. I don't like his buildings, most of them anyways, but I respect the ability to separate oneself from the field enough to be able to define the era which you are working within. Many architects fail to realize the context of the field and think they are doing something ultra-revolutionary, when really they are just re-hashing old and outdated ideas. I am sure we can ALL think of a few firms that do this.
Thank you Scott for your 2 cents. And thank you "anonymous" for mentioning Moneo and opening up a FUCKING can of worms.
I think hideous was the right word for that building. It is pretty bad if you ask me. Seems to be completely random placement of things everywhere. I don't know. Not much to it really. Just my opinion though.
Yeah it kind of reminds me of the Mighty Morphin Powers Rangers headquarters.
what is your opinion on archistars? i read this book called 'against architecture' by franco la cecla and it triggers a lot of question for me as a student, what do we meant by architecture. franco sees archistars as medium by capitalist and design from bird eye view only. he called this architecture disease.
“Architestars” aka “Starchitects” come in many different shapes, sizes and forms. Like any other person from any walk of life, an architect can handle fame very modestly or be a giant egotistical douche. Depending on our bias towards a principal architect you may see them in two different perspectives. Either the idol of all of his/her disciples or the arrogant bastard who comes in once a week, critiques a dozen of his/her minions (employees) and passes off 100% of the finish product as their own. In most cases I personally see it as a little bit from both columns
As designers we all to a certain extent have this full of themselves, creative, god complex where we have to control societies cows (the general population) to see what we want them to see, to experience what we want them to experience or direct them through a convoluted maze that we belched out of our psyche.
So yes their intentions could be fueled by capitalism because what isn't in this crazy messed up blue marble we call planet earth? Disease is pretty extreme though. I mean you follow or you try to embody all those that teach you. Even though no one can truly teach design, you are influenced by everything you interact with. But yeah I guess the lack of modesty and the douchey nature of a lot designers could be contagious... kind of like the hipster culture. FYI I'm not a big fan of hipsters.
