WHAT IS ALTERNATE INFECTION AU? ALTERNATE INFECTION AU is a Mandela Catalogue AU where a mysterious infection gets transmitted through a bit or scratch and turns others into alternates in 10 just days. They will have to go through terrible pain and would experience the hallucinations and voices who call out to them to join them. People do not really know the cause of this terrible disaster or how to even cure everyone. This AU is also inspired by the MLP Infection AUs.

WHERE CAN I READ THE STORY? I mainly post chapters on tumblr (Where you can just type #AIChapters if you would like to see them without scrolling constantly to find each one) Or you can go on Wattpad(Linked at the very end of the post).

I might have to make a new Ao3 account

I tried to log into my Ao3 account but it will not let me. It would on my phone, but i reset my password so i can log in on my computer, by now it wont let me in no matter what i do.

I might have to make a new account. i'm really scared and i don't want to, but if this continues, i don't think i have no other choice. If that happens, i will copy and paste my original stories onto that new account.

Chapter 8: Fate Of The Jester

tw: Attemped Suicide, Vomitting, body horror

“Any information on Jonah?” Thatcher asked Cesar, who was staring down at the floor.

“No…I haven’t seen him for..what, three days? The last time I did was when he was getting attacked by an infected one. He ran off when I scared it away..”

“So you just let him run away?”

“I didn’t know where he went! I looked for him for hours!” Cesar raised his voice at the doctor, but quickly went quiet. “I’m sorry, it’s just that…I’m tired, Doc. I’m tired of seeing everyone I cared about either die or turn into some man-eating zombie that talks about some sort of savior.” 

“Some sort of savior? I thought they were talking about being hungry.” 

“They do! But sometimes they say shit like ‘savior’ or ‘follow the Shepard.’ I don’t know, when I saw my friend after he got infected, he was saying "savior.”

“I see..you should probably be out to look for Jonah now.”

“That’s what I was going to do.” Cesar walked over to the door but turned back to Thatcher for a moment.

“Any info on David? David Lee?”

“…I haven’t seen him in days either.”

Cesar gave a slight nod before leaving.

Thatcher walked over to Ruth’s room and opened the door: “Ruth.”

Ruth looked over to Thatcher, her eyes once a shade of brown were now dull, gray and lifeless. She slowly got up and limped over to him. Thatcher swore he saw half of her face melting a little.

“We already took the medicine today..” Ruth mumbled.

“Just wanted to check up on you, Weaver.” 

Ruth nodded a little bit. “Oh, okay..”

“How do you feel?”

“I’m in a lot of pain, that’s how I feel.” Ruth replied bluntly and looked away for a few moments before looking back at her.

“Dave hasn’t really reached out to me in a few days.”

“What? Is he infected? Dead..?” 

“I don’t know, Ruth.”

“Well, you need to find out. Now you have me all worried.”

“I’ll look for him early in the morning. The infected mostly come out at night so it’s safer.”

“Good.”

As Thatcher went over to the door, ready to leave Ruth stopped him. “Wait. I have a question.” Ruth paused for a moment before continuing. “Why won’t you kill me? I’m not fully infected and you’ll run out of those pills soon. I’ve been in pain for seventeen years, Thatcher. I don’t want to be in pain anymore.”

Thatcher couldn’t answer her. What would he say? He cared so much about her and he didn’t want to lose her. She just needed to wait a little longer and then she would be cured in no time. “…Goodnight, Weaver.”

Ruth didn’t like that response and raised her voice.

“What?! Hey, you didn’t answer my questio-“

The door was shut.

When night came, Thatcher was having a hard time sleeping. He kept tossing and turning, trying to fall asleep but he just couldn’t. Ruth’s question still lingered in the back of his mind and he hated it. He hated how much pain she was in, he hated how she asked that question he hated everything. He just needed time so Ruth could be cured. Just as Thatcher closed his eyes, he heard someone calling to him.

“WAKE UP THATCHER”

“I AM YOUR INTUITION”

“DO YOU HEAR THE SCREAMING?”

“GO AND SEE.”

Thatcher jolted up in his bed from the voice. He looked around his room for a moment and got up from bed. “Who’s there?!” Thatcher called out but there was no answer.

He wondered if he was going crazy. Just then, he heard someone screaming, though it was faint. He remembered what the voice told him.

“GO AND SEE.”

That sentence was all Thatcher could think of as he drove to where the screaming was. It was raining heavily but he didn’t care. He didn’t even pay attention to the radio. As he was driving, he thinks to himself;

“What was that about?”

“Who’s screaming?”

“Was it a parasite? An infected one?”

“Am I finally going insane?”

Thatcher’s thoughts halted when he saw a house up ahead with a van. The words ‘Bythorne. Paranormal. Society.’ was spraypainted on it. He pulled up into the driveway and got out of the car, getting his gun, in case any infected ones tried to show up. He took a deep breath and went inside the house.

There wasn’t much, only the usual; Broken windows, smashed videogame cds, ripped up photos, vomit and a TV that looked like someone smashed their fist through it. Frankly, he wasn’t surprised. This was obviously the sign of an infected one and he needed to be careful. He looked over and saw a staircase that went up into the bedroom and suddenly out of nowhere, a tape recorder started playing, startling Thatcher. “The Fate Of The Jester chapter 1. As the boy lay there dormant, all of his humanity drained into a murky puddle, milky eyes cut through the thick blackness of the bedroom, a spectator. He was no longer the hero of the story, just a cog in the machine." Thatcher blinked. What does it mean by that? What jester? Was this a prank? Thatcher took a deep breath and tried to ignore it.

As he ascended the staircase all the way up to the bedroom, a pit had formed in his stomach. Something told him that he wasn’t alone but he didn’t back down. He dealt with these things before, many times and he was not afraid to deal with another. He turned the handle and went inside of the bedroom. 

Clothes were scattered everywhere and the room reeked of bleach and vomit which made it hard for Thatcher to breathe. Thatcher walked around the room and saw a cinder block and an empty bleach bottle on the floor. Thatcher examined the bottle and sighed.

“It’s pretty obvious someone tried to kill themselves.” Thatcher thought to himself. He looked over to a figure up against the drawer and pointed his flashlight directly at it to see what it was and what he saw made his whole body freeze up. There was a boy sitting there. But he didn’t even look normal. His limbs were long. Very long. The boy was skinny and pale as a ghost, his eye sockets were showing while his eyeballs were black with a white pupil in one and many eyes in another. Thatcher hesitantly stepped towards him only to realize who it was.

“Wait. That's..”

Before Thatcher could finish his thoughts, the boy started screaming. Not out of hostility but out of pain. It was loud and piercing only enough to startle Thatcher, making him drop his camera and flashlight. Thatcher stumbled back into a wall. He could hear the boy ramble things;

“Fucking kill me…Please someone kill me…please! Is SOMEONE-” More screaming. Thatcher just stared. He needed to kill that thing but for some reason he couldn’t. He couldn’t pick up his gun and shoot him dead. He just COULDN’T. It was obvious the boy was in pain and didn’t want to be this way. He couldn’t kill him.

So he decided to do the opposite instead.

Hey Guys! This is the creator speaking!

just wanted to let you know i wont be posting a lot on this blog mainly because i'm starting to lose my hyperfixation on this AU, more focused with my other au (dreamdela catalogue, make sure to check that out) and is about to start school.

I do apologize in advanced that no new chapters were posted, I didn't really have the motivation to write it but i do hope of getting chapter 8 done soon. I don't know when ill be back but hopefully soon
