American Beautyberry (Callicarpa Americana)

One of my favorite plants on the trail! I recently successfully transplanted one, and cannot wait for it to grow on my property. I loved the gradient berries on this one. In order to get this photo, JP had to hold my backpack so I wouldn't fall over the ledge. (I would have survived, but wouldn't have been happy had I fallen.)

I'm enjoying watching this praying mantis on my Mexican oregano... But I hope it stays away from my honeybees!😱

Mantids are the only insects who can "look over their shoulder".

Foraging haul from this past July. It's rained probably less than 30 days this entire summer in North Georgia, so I haven't been able to go on many mushroom forays. I'm super thankful for this haul though, we made some delicious meals with these mushrooms! Pictured in no particular order: chanterelle, american caesar, shaggy stalk bolete, cinnabar chanterelle, indigo milky cap.

We celebrated a few August birthdays this weekend, and made sure EVERYONE was festive! 🥳

I wanted a water feature added to the landscaping for the pollinators, as well as for the sound. 🤍 It's in the front of the house, and the honeybees fly over the house to the back where the hives are. I could watch them all day. They're drinking water off of a "wishing rock".

We did an Apivar treatment today, and checked to see where we stand, heading into the heat of the summer. We located Queen Victoria in Hive 1! 👑🐝

The second hive was MAD that we were looking at their honey stores though, and they were literally pelting us, and I pulled a few stingers out of my gloves. I have only duct tape covering some holes in my veil, so it was a bit stressful. 😆
