CJ and Danny - I think bondage mildly yay? (Mia once wrote CJ being lightly restrained into a fic once and it kind of rewired my brain chemistry). I said this on my post about Ellie too but I genuinely just think the idea of giving up control is something very hard for CJ to do, but that it might also be slightly gratifying sexually to be forced to do nothing, to be held down until you stop overthinking.

So basically, I think CJ could see the merits in being tied up.

THAT BEING SAID. Turnabout is fair play, and I'm sure Danny wouldn't be opposed to it either lol.

Blorbo of choice - what the hell, i'm going to pick Evan Buckley. He loves to bite, loves to leave teeth marks and bruises and hickeys all over his partners (mostly Tommy. Nothing like knowing there's a nice bruise in the shape of Buck's teeth in the soft flesh of Tommy's ass beneath his turnouts. They're in love, this is fine).

He also likes being claimed, likes the idea of someone keeping him and wanting him, and branding him with their teeth.

first off, CJ and exhibitionism, also Danny and lingerie kink(on CJ, in particular)

CJ and exhibitionism: As a fantasy, where it has absolutely zero impact on her career as a very important woman in a job full of men? Sure, kind of hot to think about (shoving Danny to his knees in the copy room and draping one long leg over his shoulder, as a fantasy, has its merits after all) late at night.

In reality, however, not a chance. Not a chance.

(Okay, maybe a chance, but it's probably not getting past the "heated makeout" stage, once she has a bigger more private office that isn't 90% windows... although it still has a door to the Oval... so CJ, champion overthinker, will still hesitate).

Because that is not something you get away with as a woman in an important and visible job when all the men you work with (men you hold affection for but men nevertheless) will find any reason to take you less seriously, their own skeletons in the closet, call girls, etc., notwithstanding. They're guys after all.

Basically, TL;DR, the CJ I see most okay with this is probably CJ in the lame duck era of the Bartlet admin, when she has that big private office and less and less work to do with each passing week. And even then...

(This now has me thinking about her and Danny doing some kind of half-joking role play in the privacy of one of their places...)

Danny and lingerie kink (on CJ, naturally): Oh, he's so into it.

Both in the sense of actual lingerie (something pretty and skimpy and thin enough to still feel everything through), particularly when CJ shows up to his place or vice versa, sheds one of her very practical Chief of Staff outfits (TM) and has clearly planned this hook-up because she's wearing lingerie underneath....

... And in the sense that Danny really does just like her in anything, can barely believe that they've finally reached this stage. The most functional, practical, not fancy undergarments still has him drooling.

this took SUCH a huge deal of unlearning because, like so many of you, i came out of a home where being quietly in trouble WAS the default state, and i DID grow up not just with the assumption but borderline religious conviction that Everyone Is Mad At Me, I Am Bad, I Must Exist In A Constant State of Attempting to Pacify The Natural Rage I Inspire In Everyone. and no it actually turns out that my family are the freaks . and yours are too

if the peacefulness of your relationship with someone (familial, romantic, friendly, anything) can be destroyed by effective communication/asking them for effective communication, you have got to get out of there. if you can’t get out of there, you’ve got to throw away any ideas about what that person thinks of you because they have their own shit to figure out before they can accurately read anyone else

I think that if a story ever pulls a line like "You could have destroyed your magic with a stunt like that!" or "Pushing ahead with your magic too quickly can have dangerous consequences!" then the story should be obligated at some point to show me these magically disabled people.

All stories should have more disabled people, honestly, because disability is a basic part of being alive! What am I supposed to think of any given fictional community if I never see any elderly people, any retired people, any injured people, or any disabled people?

But seriously, a lot more fantasy stories specifically could really stand to show people who have been burned by magic to various degrees and are now living with the consequences. I'm too used to the protagonists fainting and sleeping extreme recklessness off without issue.

Leverage is one of the few Found Family stories where I'm okay with applying a bit of nuclear family dynamics to it because that is kinda built into the text. I'm pretty sure there's interviews about this. Like, Nate and Sophie are very much played as the parent figures of the crew. Between the ending of the Ho Ho Ho Job being framed like parents giving their kids Christmas Presents, The Juror No. 6 Job being basically Nate and Sophie making the executive parental decision to socialize Parker for her own good, everyone calling Sophie for advice behind Nate's back in the Iceman Job, and the line "We trust Nate to make sure the plan works and we trust you to make sure we're all okay" in regards to Sophie in the Two Live Crew Job.

Textually speaking, Sophie and Nate are mom and dad.

I agree! Eliot's roll in this series is the one that is the most fuzzy. And really, I understand why most people are focused on Eliot with Parker and Hardison, but I find Eliot's relationship with Nate to be far more intriguing.

Yeah!! No I very much meant that as a addition to OPs take, not a detractor! And I almost said this before, but there are moments where Eliot is part of Sophie and Nates romantic dynamic as much as he is Parker and Hardisons. (the "are you having a three way" comment from Parker for instance, or some of the early season dynamics) While I definitely settle on E/H/P, its so interesting where the found family dynamics blur differently from those more prescribed nuclear family roles

I don't know if this is asked in earnest or just a thought but since I'm waiting for my therapy session, here it goes

The method I worked out for myself is to pretend that there's this personal assistant (Barbara) to my brain. The thoughts and emotions are clients who either come to pitch an idea or to demand attention from the boss.

Most are important and relevant thoughts; but sometimes they come at the wrong time (if I wake up at night worrying about a task I just imagine Barbara in her pyjamas groggily telling the thoughts to come during office hours).

And some clients (mean thoughts, false beliefs, anxiety jabs) I just imagine as panicked or rude customers that need to be treated as such. You are not getting audience with the boss until you can state your purpose calmly and clearly. If you insist on being rude, I'll throw you out.

It helps you separate yourself from the thoughts and gives you time to evaluate if they need to be acted on. My therapist loves Barbara

Keep in mind, this sort of thing is a SKILL. That means you can get better at it if you practice! It works quite well!

(You may not have a Barbara. You may have a Kevin, like I do, who is the one saying the insanely bad thoughts, and every once in a while you have to be like "nobody asked you, Kevin" and shove him into a locker. I normally engage with those thoughts a little, to make sure they aren't covering up a real immediate need, but sometimes you just know there's nothing good in there and you can safely just shut the lid on the dumpster for the night.)

I spent 100 consecutive days practicing this skill in comics form and I can absolutely confirm it gets easier the more you do it. (I also highly recommend personifying or visualizing your Inner Critic/Assistant as clearly as possible. It helps turn them into a separate entity and it’s WAY easier to be nice to “someone else” than to yourself.)
