You can disagree with me on this perspective, but, I honestly think the best way to combat against pedophilia at this point is to encourage fully grown adults to stop having children, and they’re taught the many difficulties that actually come with taking care of children in a chaotic, cruel world. I think you’re missing the point of what I was trying to say in the last ask but yeah I agree. Michelle shouldn’t be using characters written as minors for her story. It doesn’t matter if it’s fictional because Michelle is the creator and she made the conscious decision to make her primary main characters teenagers. If Michelle really is trying to target towards an older audience than she should’ve made her characters in their 20s or 30s. She has major issues and needs serious therapy.

You’re right about the character designs in AD. Literally swap Gil’s and Erio’s colors and they’ll just look like each other with the only difference is that one of them is supposed to have four arms, lmao. I also hate how Michelle depicts the seven deadly sins as “pretty” when in Christian mythology and other numerous mythologies; they’re supposed to be scary for a reason. They're a literal embodiment of everything which can go wrong with humanity or people in general. A cautionary tale per se.

In your opinion, as someone who has some knowledge in art, what do you think makes a good character design in terms of motif, color and symbolism? I’m asking this as a general thing and because I would like other people’s opinions on the discussion.

you're probably better off finding Character Design 101 videos on youtube. but i can try.

first of all: it heavily depends on what you're designing the character for. is it for animation? for a comic? for a still picture? for a videogame? what kind of videogame? maybe a book? an outfit an actor will wear? there are a LOT of factors that will change what a character looks like.

that aside, what makes a good character design, imo, is

1. it's recognizable in a way that distinguishes the character not just from other media but from the rest of the cast 2. it conveys information about the character 3. it doesn't promote shitty bigoted conceptualizations about people (see: fat slobs, villains with curved noses, racial caricatures, etc etc)

let's use a Counter-example: picture one a them horny female characters. most of the time she will be wearing an Uncreative outfit that solely exists to show off her body, that will not relate to her story or personality whatsoever (why would a woman on the battlefield have her tits out, if she's meant to be a very serious warrior?), and promotes the objectification of women.

and uhhh idk my brain's farting. something funny was i did see somebody say jack from final fantasy origins was a better character design than the warrior of light/the warrior from FF1, and like. idk one of them is the 3825793847598th white blonde dude ive already seen, vs a design so iconic it remains in the videogame subconscious even decades later. shrug!

but id say the thing that sucks the most about ava's demon's designs is that everybody has the same body type, the same facial structure. if i had color blindness i would struggle to tell people apart. it sucks <3
