I was inspired to write a relationship song about a guy who is freaking out that he hasn’t heard from his girlfriend and is going insane and was intrigued also by the hyper-masculine notion that a knight of the highest order could never bore a simple woman… I wanted to put knighthood and chivalry on its head. The latin text is from the Carmina Burana, the ‘profane songs.’”
