Jean Pascal Aubron Folle Blanche, Loire 2014
Known as âPicpoul de Pinetâ in the Languedoc, this Loire Valley white is bright and tingly, a reminder of warmer days past and future. Sustainably grown fruit is fermented in stainless steel then transferred to underground, glass-lined tanks to sit for a few months before being bottled with minimal filtration and sulfur added at bottling. The wine is lip-smackingly delicious, with key lime acidity and sea shell minerality. When life is not a beach, at least your wine can be. Sub for margaritas on taco night or pair it with the clanging of your radiator. $12
Thierry Landry Cuvée des Closeaux, Chinon 2013
This hand-picked organic Chinon is the perfect cork to crack for a night binge watching How to Make a Murderer, or however you decide to âNetflix and chill.â Bright, earthy, plummy, rustic Cabernet Franc is my favorite comfort food. It pairs perfectly with soup and sourdough, and tastes great under a blanket. Thierry Landry has managed to put all that delightfully complex French âje ne sais quoiâ into a bottle without any complications. Winter is hard, your wine shouldnât be. $19
Il Farnetto Rio Rocca Spergle, Emilia Romagna 2014
This organic bubbly which costs about as much as a smoothie is so delicious, and so funky, and so juicy that it just HAS to be good for you. This luscious lemon-y, grapefruit-y tonic, made from the ancient grape varietal Spergola, hails from beautiful Emilia-Romagna. The grapes are hand harvested, fermented with wild yeasts, and bottled without filtration. The juice is a little cloudy, a lot zesty, and totally trippy. Iâve never had anything like this stuff! It cures the winter blues, hangovers, and probably even the common cold. But come to think of it, I havenât been sick since I started drinking this wine on the reg. Coincidence? Probably not. $17
