thatās a question for the PM āthe⦠prime minister?āĀ the prop master you heathenĀ
me: so those were put in last year and we just got new house lights a few months ago. theyāre a lot better than the last ones, obviously. theyāre brighter and fade out without stepping and over half of them work (most of the time). unfortunately theyāre a cooler white than the old ones, still warm but they make the theatre look like a aeroport bathroom somehow, you know⦠hold on. you donāt care about any of this do you?Ā my blind friend who Iāve been talking to this whole time: no, no I donātĀ

me: Iām a theatre major random actor: go to as many auditions as possible and always have a few monologues in the bank, one serious and one less serious. remember that the audition starts before you walk into the room and when you do walk in, stride confidently. remember that itās important to- me: Iām a technicianĀ random actor: ohĀ
Why use dry shampoo when you have sawdust
The theatre Iām working at this summer is doing a show thatās gonna feature a live chicken.
They have written blocking for the chicken, based on when and where they are going to sprinkle feed on the stage.
One of the company managers emailed the owner of the chicken the most formal email including the statement āyour chicken has been offered a small roleā
We havenāt evEN OBTAINED THE CHICKEN YET AND THIS IS THE FUNNIEST SHIT I HAVE HEARD ALL SUMMER
Whatās the Sam Shepherd play with a sheep? We did that in college and the sheep got billing and everything. Two peopleās crew job was sheep handling. He had playtime on the lawn and was quite popular on campus.
The Curse of the Starving Class. My college went through 3 sheeps. The first one kept jumping out of its pen, and the second would not shut up.
Can you be both stagehand union and equity? I'm working as a stagehand to pay off loans after college (getting established in my local before first year) but I'm majoring in musical theatre and want to at least make it to Chicago stages. Is it possible to be in both?
Hey!
Yes you can join both unions there are just some factors to consider. The biggest thing is that to stay in the union and / or get additional benefits you need to work a certain number of hours or make a certain amount of money in a period of time. Because of this you may find it difficult in the beginning of your career to manage both and for example have health care. But yes you can join both unions.

Just got to do some woodworking for the first time in a long while, and I am once again reminded of why I enjoy my favorite type of word to work with: Purpleheart.
Whyās it called purpleheart?
Muthafuckinā purple wood. How cool is that? Itās brown when you cut it, but due to oxidization, eventually turns to a beautiful purple color. (if you donāt seal it at this stage, itāll eventually turn red, I believe, which is still pretty, but you buy purpleheart for purple, damnit!)
And everything you make with it turns out amazing.
Purple floors?
Nice.
Purple stairs?
Fancy.
Purple table?
Sweet.
Purple guitar?
Awesome.
Purple whatever the hell is going on here?
Epic.
Itās just such a cool wood to work with, and itās sturdy enough to be used for just about anything. If I ever get a house, half of it might just end up being made out of purpleheart.
Anyway, thatās enough nerdery for one post. I will now return to reblogging stupid pictures and recipes.
For some reason this ancient, ancient post keeps getting notes randomly. It is now less than 40 notes away from 30,000.
*Why.*
