Denied never usually was this sick, sure sometimes he had seaweed stuck up his nose, or he had a rash on his tail, but he'd never thought he'd feel like a hot air balloon.
His stomach hurt. A lot. To the point he wasn't sure if he even wanted to eat or get out of his bed, which told a lot to Bob because The fish was always on-the-go.
"I don't know if your body is like us humans, but I know i must try to do something." Bob whispered, feeling his heartache as Denied fussed and sniffled. "Here. Open your mouth."
Denied stared weakly at the object, a thermometer. He sniffed it but began to turn his head. "Ah ah ah. You MUST." Bob sighed, forcing him to open his mouth, while trying to avoid his teeth. But alas, the teeth were invetable as he felt the thinner side of Denieds fang cut his finger, causing him to hiss.
Denied laid in bed, sniffling and wiping his eyes as Bob checked his watch. Denied let out a grumble of sorts, his tail flicking. Just as he began to get used to the foreign object, Bob plucked it out, the thin tube covered in aquatic blue saliva. Bob checked the red line, only to widen his eyes. "109.4.." he mumbled, sweating now. "Oh good lord. Ohh-"
Denied couldn't make that last word out, it sounded somewhat funny, until Bob lifted him up. "Gonzalo, get the bathtub filled with lukewarm water." He whispered.
It became blurry after that, his head felt heavy and the pain became unbearable. He sniffled and whined as Bob carried him somewhere, but his vision too blurry to make it out. All he could see was white, and a tad bits of yellow. He let out a gurgling fuss, Gonzalo patting his head.
"Sshh shh, it's okay." Gonzalo cooed, lifting his head and placing it on a damp towel. Denied let out a soft wheeze, the noise worrying Bob a lot. Bob began to rummage through his medicine cabinet, his hands flimsy and sweaty with dread and anxiety, to the point his toothbrush glass knocked over and shattered.
Billy entered Denieds mind, Billy managing to pick him up with both arms, and wheeled his way to his dad. Bobs both astonished and horrified look and Gonzalo trying not to laugh
Now he was here. A little grown up and feeling like absolute... what was it Gonzalo said occasionally? Horse shit? He didn't know what it meant but he knew it described how he felt at that moment.
Denied wheezed again, softer as he felt his eyes roll to the back of his head. Bob and Gonzalo trying to help him stay awake.. it felt warmer now, the water. Maybe a few minutes
He wasn't sure how long it had been, but the way the room was now darker, he got the basic idea it was for a really long time. Denied blinked, squeaking at a sleepy Gonzalo.
Funny, he didn't feel awful anymore. But his tummy still kind of hurt.
Gonzalo head snapped up, shocked to see Denied awake. "Denied?" The captain whispered, the tiny fish squeaking again in response, wagging his tail.
Gonzalo let out a sound between a gasp and a laugh, his arms immediately wrapping around Denieds body. "Ohh thank God you're alright, Denied!" He said, stiffling a sob. "Bob! Bob, he's awake!"
Denied watched as Billy and Bob gathered into Denieds room. Everyone was so happy to see him, and he found himself just as equally thrilled, his tail thwumping against the mattress as Bob joined the hug.
"See! He just had to throw up." Billy beamed, patting Denieds head, the fish creature letting out a happy chirp. "Yes well, better out than in." Gonzalo smiled, giving Denied a soft peck on his forehead.
