“Where did you go to boarding school? I never went or anything, but I grew up in a small town, and there was this really old, and prestigious boarding school there.”
“Switzerland. That was Le Rosey and more recently France. Le Rosey was rather remote. You never lived in Switzerland, did you?”
Hartley couldn’t help the amused smile forming on his lips. “That hard to impress you, huh?” He teases as she takes the flask and takes a drink. He mocks a gentleman’s bow, smiling brighter when she drank more. He always liked knowing people enjoyed his wine, it fed his ego. He takes back the flask, rolling his eyes playfully and taking his pointer finger. “Cross my heart,” he smirks, before bringing the flask to his lips and taking a drink, tipping it towards her once he finished, silently offering more.
A small giggle escaped her lips as he bowed and crossed his heart. Belle nodded, taking the flask and bringing it to get lips for a brisk drink. Silently, she gazed at him, wiping sleep out of her eye. Another sip and with it a small nibble of her her inner cheek. “I haven’t had a pretty boy get me drunk since my last visit to France.” She joked and tipped the flask back towards him.
“Don’t worry this won’t be enjoyable. When I’m away my dad tries to cook new recipes, we’ll be subjected to something strange I’m sure. But it comes from a good place I swear.” She kept scanning but to no avail thus far, “I guess there are more unfortunate habits to have.”
“My father might drop by some time. No doubt he wouldn't mind letting me bring a friend of mine along to the house in Switzerland.” As she scanned she wondered who might have taken the shoes, if anybody. It wouldn't be unreasonable to suspect a Hermes kid. “He doesn't cook. The staff are excellent though.”
C’mon, I can’t answer this one for you. Zeus indirectly avoids responsibility of the human world by putting the box on Pandora’s lap and when she had opened it, “hope” managed to escape. Does that mean hope represents misfortune and evil or can it maybe mean the complete opposite and show the kindness of Zeus’ heart?
“The latter, or perhaps this is all relative? It’s up for interpretation. I think that it tells us something about human nature. With any misfortune and in the face of all evil, humans will always be able to find hope. Mythology is up to interpretation- sort of. So much of it is just fables and other shit.”
“Oh, a rebel,” he mutters in a monotone voice, drinking more of his nectar. He nods once when she mentions she’d rather not deal with her siblings, letting out a soft snort. “What’s the cabin at now? Eight? Ten?”
“That is me. I cut bitches and smoke weed everyday.” Belle groaned, beginning to regret her seating choice. A determined girl, eager to get some form on positive response from the boy, she swivelled in her seat, adjusting so that her legs were on either side of the bench. She stared intently at him. “Cabin ten is at your six, my three. Making matches and things. The rest are probably ‘borrowing’ my clothes.” Awkwardly, she coughed. “Your enthusiasm is awe inspiring.”
“It wasn’t European jet setting, but I wouldn’t be the person or gardener I am today. If you ever need a non-camp refuge and find yourself in California, you’re welcome to stop and smell the lavender. I think my dad is secretly dying to meet another demigod.”
“I don’t know; two demi-gods sound like more of a hassle than just one. With the monsters and all.“ She moved slowly toward a red hue hidden between blades of grass before realising that it was only a discarded plastic bag. “I've only ever been invited to visit other homes because my old school mates were rather fond of showing off. I’ll have to take you up on that offer one day. As soon as I visit California I’ll be there. ”

“You kiddin Bells? Dad is where I get the crazies from. Ma just caught them. Poor lady.”
“Or maybe the alcohol has fucked with your brain cells. Maybe it’s not even insanity. Just constant drunkenness.”
“What are you reciting?”
“Taylor Swift.” She joked, turning to see the boy. “Um, Shakespeare. It’s from Much Ado About Nothing.”
“It’s not as interesting unfortunately. My dad owns a lavender farm out in California. It’s always just been me, him and the plants. I didn’t really do anything impressive in school or join any clubs.” She looked at the edge of garden and what she though might have been Isabelle’s heels, turned out to be a random pair of black boots. “Sorry, I don’t think those are your shoes. We can trace your steps towards the forest if you want.”
“Sounds like a lovely pre-camp life. More simple. I could do with simple.” She nodded and began to lead the way along the path that had become second nature over the few weeks spent at camp. “I barely ever gave myself time to stop and smell the roses, or lavender in this case.”
”All in the name of Shakespeare, of course.” Alissa smiled slightly, pleased that she had gotten Isabelle to lighten up a little. The Hermes cabin came into view and she tried to start scanning the outside for a pair of shoes. “Being the apple of everyone’s eye sounds exhausting though.”
“At some point boys start trying to buy your affection. I understand that the boys at Rosey were wealthy, but I had money of my own. It was somewhat condescending.” She raised her brows, peering at the Hermes cabin, searching for a flash of red. “What was it like for you before camp?”
“I’ve still never been kissed…Um.”
“Oh, well... Um, you have to trust your gut. If her doesn't like you, you’re not losing anything.”

Damn, I need to stop making trips to Chicago. Ma keeps getting battier and battier the more I visit.
“She sounds like a catch. I mean, I now understand where you get your battiness from.”

”Alright we’ll start at the Hermes cabin and then trace your steps out to the forest. I doubt anyone has bothered taking them yet.” She motioned for them to start walking along the cabins and tried to make some small talk. “So when did you join a Shakespearean club, was it in Switzerland or France?”
“Institut Le Rosey,” Belle beamed, smiling at the idea of her previous school. She was so much grander there. Quite simply put, Belle was ‘that’ girl. The boys had wanted her whereas the girls wanted to be her; hell, she could make anybody swing in her direction. “In Switzerland. People there didn’t like clubs very much, however I did manage to gain members. Let’s just say that they were more interested in me than they were the text.”
“How do you know when a boy likes you?”

”It’s really no problem, you just caught me at a good time.” She looked down at her own dirt covered sneakers and want to know why Isabelle was still wearing heels around camp. Most campers adapted to camp surroundings after a week or two. But experience had taught her that asking questions usually didn’t get people to feel better. Much like flowers blooming they would open up when they were ready. The best she could do was be there. “Come on I’ll help search with you, even if it means walking up to the forest.”
“Okay,” Isabelle straightened her dress and clapped, whilst bouncing slightly on toes of her feet. Usually she wouldn’t have cared even slightly, if those hadn’t been the shoes that housed rolls of change in the heel. Of course, she had money elsewhere, however she didn’t feel she could trust most of the Half-Bloods outside of her own cabin. “Let us go forth and find the shoes.”
