"Love you too," she murmured, snuggling against him.
He smiled fondly down at her, "You're going to fall asleep, aren't you?"
Dalla raised a brow. âDid our fathers make the training that difficult? I hoped you at least enjoyed your time there.â
He scoffed and loosened his hold on Dalla, "Why does everyone assume inherent lack of ability is the only reason a person wouldn't finish their training?"Â
She took his hand, smiling at him gently.
He walked slowly from the room, giving his mother's hand a small squeeze, "So, where shall we go today?"Â
She glowered at him slightly, shifting the bow on her back and crossing her arms. âNow youâre making yourself out to be the only victim.â
"No." He replied sternly, turning back to her just as he reached the door, "Now, I am truly abandoning you." The door slammed loudly shut behind him as he left the room.Â
"Youâre not an evil monster, noâŠbut you are a man.â The Valkyries were starting to make their effect on her. âFor years I would always try to find you â Hel, Iâd escape to Midgard and search for months. If you had left an address, I was never allowed to see it. And then you return and say it was for my â our â own good? What am I supposed to think then?â
"It doesn't matter!" He growled, pushing himself to his feet, "None of it matters! You know nothing and you would condemn me and you ask as if you care to know but you can not!" His eyes seemed alight with a rage never known of Alaric as he dropped the necklace in front of her and began walking from the room, pausing only long enough to say over his shoulder, "Had any of you given me the benefit of the doubt, I might've wanted to stick around and explain."Â
She tore her wrist from his grip, glaring at him. âI might hate you, but youâre still my brother. Iâm sorry for trying to help.â
"What's the point, Flos?" He shook his head before hunching in on himself, "You made out like you're the only one wronged in all of this, if I'm some evil monster, what's the point in trying?"
She nodded against his arm.
"Okay." He spoke quietly as he carried her into the lounge area and sat down, "I love you, sis." He murmured, pressing a gentle kiss into her blonde hair.Â
"With you? Of course," she said, running her fingers through his hair.
Alaric took his mother's answer as an opening to rise from where he sat and offer her his hand.
She furrowed her brow, taking a few steps closer to him. She ran her fingers gently through his hair, using her newfound healing abilities to try and help. No matter how much she pretended to hate him, he was still her brother.
His large fingers wrapped tight around her wrist and carefully removed it from his head, "If your intention is to hurt me, you'd best be able to stand by and watch me bleed."Â
She gave him a tight smile. âSorry, too busy going away to take anything back from you.â She didnât want to be like this, but she had to admit that she wanted to hurt him. It was fairly evident that he couldnât hurt as she had, but she could do her best.
Alaric sighed and shook out his sweat sullied hair, "Fine." He murmured, frowning when he realised the blood that came away when he removed his fingers from his scalp, "I have to patch myself up anyway." he spoke as he turned to move towards his bag to retrieve a bandaid, which he hoped would be enough to cover what ever wound was ailing him.
She blushed slightly, but her smile didnât fade. âOf course, my son.â
He grinned as he leant in to kiss his mother's cheek, "Would you care to take a walk, mother?"
