any horror recs for someone annoying and pretentious looking for things theyâve never watched before? they dont have to be good just interesting and the more bonkers the better. foreign films very welcome! thank you thank you
oh hell yes if weâre just reaching for Weird Shit You Might Not Have Seen (But You Might Have Idk Your Life):
Beyond the Black Rainbow
Lair of the White Worm
Necromentia
Cure
The Devilâs Backbone (this one isnât that weird or unknown i just think itâs really underrated)
Noroi: The Curse (again not unheard of but an all-time underrated favorite. TO ME)
Ghostwatch
man my brains kinda broke i feel like this list didnât end up cutting very deep at all but im still Thinking đ€
Oooh I want to chip in with Weird Shit you may or may not have seen- I'm putting release years for ease of finding.
The Wolf House (2018) - stop motion, haunting. Based on historical events. You can go in blind or read about it first, I think the background knowledge makes it hit harder.
Violence Voyager (2018) - Paper cutout "Gekimation". Nightmarish, unique experience.
The Strange Color of Your Body's Tears (2013) - Pretentious, gorgeous, largely incoherent.
Titane (2021) - Unhinged. I had a great time with this one.
Possessor (2020) - Just so stylish, really resonated with me. Was oddly relevant to my life at the time I saw it and really in tune with the ills of the world.
Nails (2003) - Fantastic visuals. Can-do attitude to match similarly grimy low-to-no budget fare like Death Powder (1986), though not quite as manic.
The Happiness of the Katakuris (2001) - Horror comedy, very silly and fun. Takashi Miike directs, he has a number of other movies you might like that are not as light- Gozu (2003) for example.
Egg (2005) - Not sure what to say about this one but I doubt you'll see another like it.
WNUF Halloween Special (2013) - Love the premise and execution. Descended from Ghostwatch.
Uzumaki (2000) - So many memorable moments, very likely to keep your interest.
And that will be all for now, if I get into the 90s and back I'll be up all night. I hope this is helpful.

i only just discovered Tony Stella's art and sad to find out that he just passed. RIP to a creative genius; link to his site because all of his work is just incredible: https://www.tony-stella.com/
Quick and dirty phone pics of my crew of goblins. Can't wait to get everything finished and put together.

Voyage dâHermĂšs, subtitled âLes Mondes ĂlĂ©mentaires: Un Voyage ImaginĂ© et DessinĂ© par Moebiusâ or âThe Elemental Worlds: An Imagined and Drawn Journey by Moebiusâ (2010) Source
âMoebius crafted the entire set digitally on a Wacom Cintiq, a technology he adopted only a couple of years prior, after a lifetime of pen and paper. Elderly and ailing, Moebius was still experimenting with his craft, and with Voyage dâHermĂšs reaching new heights.â

At this point, I've gotten enough comments comparing art of characters being wistful at night to the Twlight Sparkle/Mordecai meme image that I'm starting to get worried for you guys. Is it that younger people can't appreciate stargazing, or they can't appreciate sentimentality without being deathly afraid of being labeled cringe? Should I blame light pollution or irony poisoning?
Either way, you'd better get ready for more of it. You're watching a dramatic cartoon about talking animals!
No one recognizes the old animated movies that MordeTwi was inspired by. For shame
Yeah this is a classic scene, what
Wow, not to mention one of the big ones for me, Somewhere Out There from An American Tail-
And it's Muppets but I'm including One Little Star from Follow That Bird because I love it-
Nowhere near as strong a song as the others, but Dream from Babes in Toyland as another example. Point being there are a LOT of these. I'm just going off the top of my head. Wishing on a star/being lonely at night is a super common device to express the desires of characters.
got you some chocolates. donât worry about the title
