Gisela Moyaux
Gisela Moyaux || Appears 22, but is 1209 || Vampire || FC: Katie McGrath
Traits
(+) Loyal, Artistic, Clever (-) Fickle, Sarcastic, Hypocritical
Personality
Gisela Moyaux is perhaps one of the best living examples of the word ‘fickle’ that one can find. Never one to stay settled on an idea for long, she flits from adventure to adventure, never quite content with anything she finds. Neither does she attempt to foster lasting connections for much the same reason. She’s walked this earth for over a millennium. Humans with their simple minds and simpler needs especially bore her. What use is it to adore something that will perish in the batting of her eyelashes? And yet, she is not immune to softer feelings. There are some that Gisela has deigned to give a place in her heart, and they are more precious to her than anything in the world. Because of this, and because there are so few of them that can claim as much, she protects them and their choices with a ferocity. At the same time, though, Gisela has a tendency to be a bit hypocritical as her whimsy and impatience with monotony often leads her to critique others for faults she holds herself.
Biography
Lady Gisela Moyaux was born in the year of Our Lord 806, in the kingdom of Northumbria to a Knight of the Realm and his wife. They were not very high of rank or wealthy, but they loved each other and their daughter more than the entire world and that, in the end, was what mattered. Her life as a child was a happy one, without many of the cares of court that such as her cousin Anya Mercereau in Mercia had to consider, but as Gisela grew older in wits and in beauty, there were those that wishes to possess the carefree and cavalier young woman. One such man was a Swedish Earl who had come to make a political play after his Vikings had ravaged the countryside of Northumbria. In the hopes of smoothing tempers, Gisela was given to him along with the rest of the treasures, packed up and shipped far away from home to new and unfamiliar shores. Yet, it was an adventure for Gisela, excited to be going to a new life with a handsome new husband and a new land to watch over. As they were riding through the land towards the Earl’s seat, though, the young woman’s eye was caught by another handsome young villager. Carefully presented questions allowed her to discover that he was Brant Svansson, the second son of a neighboring village’s Earl. For a few months, as the wedding preparations were underway, Gisela often snuck off to meet with Brant, finding that she was becoming more and more enraptured with the young man. So much so that the night before she was meant to be married, Gisela packed a bag and ran off to Brant’s waiting arms. They engaged themselves to each other that very day, Brant gifting her with a necklace as she gave him a ring her mother had once given her father when they had first met. Secret, small tokens of their affection and their promise never to part, consummated in the oak groves far from anyone’s view. Yet before they could truly be married, tragedy struck. Raiders came and burned the entire village to the ground while the leaders and their army were far off on a raid of their own. Brant had attempted to show Gisela a way out, ushering her and his mother towards safety, but came to a bloody end as he was stabbed through even as Gisela watched, her screams echoing through the air. Enraged and in more pain than she ever thought possible, the young woman had pushed her mother behind her, brandishing a knife she had kept hidden in her dress for such a very purpose, swearing to Odin and all the gods in the heavens above that she would kill the raider for what he had done. And he laughed. The man simply stood there and laughed in her face, saying that he liked a little fight in his prizes before advancing on Gisela as if he meant to take her right there. She got a few quick jabs of her knife in, slashing at his armor and face, screaming and howling with rage as he came closer and closer, but it was no avail. She was not strong enough to keep the raider from twisting her hand to force her to drop the knife and tearing at her dress. Her mother-in-law tried to pull him away from Gisela, earning a cut throat for her troubles and distracting the raider from the claim he felt he had won. As she felt the cool winter air kissing her skin, Gisela prayed for a miracle. Prayed to Freya, to Odin, to anyone who would listen to save her and her love who still lay bleeding out upon the ground. And for once, the gods listened. Like the dark of a raven’s wing, a figure flashed through the hut, pinning the raider to the wall before snapping his neck. They turned back towards Gisela, eyes wide and terrified at the figure and began to advance upon her, though soon their attention was diverted to Brant’s still form upon the ground. “His heart still beats…” The figure murmured; strange teeth like fangs protruding as they gazed down upon him. “This one has strength in him, a will to live that I have not seen the likes of in many centuries…” They looked up at Gisela, holding her dress tight to her body and watching this display with a mix of wonder, terror, and fascination. “I could save him. Give him the centuries to survive as he so chose. Would you choose this eternity for him, little one? You have mere moments to decide. Save this flesh that your very blood screams you cannot live without, or spend your last seconds on this earth without him.” “Save him. Please, I beg of you. Save my husband.” She’d whispered, horrified as the being nodded and promptly sliced open a wrist and poured the sticky solution that fell from it into her husband’s mouth. Gisela aided the being in the rites he spoke of performing to save Brant, digging the grave, burying the two of them together, and waiting in the ashes of the place she’d once wished to call home for the two of them to rise to the surface. Yet, the mysterious figure vanished without a trace soon after their rising, leaving Gisela to explain everything to a terrified Brant. She held him close as he realized what he’d become, covered in the blood of those he’d called friends and neighbors, snow and ash falling about them in a pure white sheet stained red by their broken dreams. “If you wish it, my love…” Gisela said quietly after a while, lithe fingers stroking his hair as she contemplated the weight of what she was about to say. “If you wish it of me, I will follow you into this eternity. You are my husband, truly, whether or not the words were spoken in the way we should. You are blood of my blood, bone of my bone. I would not be parted from you if you would allow me to stay by your side…” And so Brant performed the rites as Gisela instructed him, drinking deep from her body, burying them together in a lasting embrace, the two of them clawing to the surface once more, drunk with the power of forever stretching before them in an unending stream of possibility. As with all good things, though, their perfect world together could not last. Gisela wished to test the limits of her power, play with the lives of the petty humans around them, glamour their minds and warp their desires to her every whim. She could not do such things with Brant by her side, for some small part of her was always fearful of what she would see in his eyes if she ever returned to him covered in the blood of innocents. So they parted ways, with Gisela roaming about Europe as she pleased, following interesting stories and blood that tasted of spices and new ideas. While unimpressed with humans as a whole, she often found herself enjoying the company of the artists of the world, making friends with the likes of Leonardo daVinci and William Shakespeare. Some called her a muse, though even less liked to admit to the influence she wrought upon their works (then again, who would ever recognize the connection between the Prince of Denmark and the prince of her heart Gisela had parted from so many ages ago?) It was not until the age of Queen Victoria’s reign that the woman finally settled for very long. She’d purchased an opera house in the heart of London, with the intent of creating entertainment that was catered especially to those of her own kind that Gisela now knew lay scattered about the world in their own hidden way. Perhaps, too, in a way, she’d hoped that by staying still and building a reputation for herself among the vampire community, Gisela would once again find herself in the company of the one being she’d ever truly loved. But when she did find him, finally, it was with a broken heart that she discovered Brant had found another vampire to spend his days and lavish his adoration upon. The two fought with abandon as Gisela accused the man of disloyalty to the vows they had made to each other, to the bond they had formed in the years of their youth. Yet, at the same time, he could not help but remind her of her hypocrisy as she too had found another to warm her bed and share in her eternity. They were so alike in this way, and yet Gisela could not allow herself to see these truths, to feel the pain that came with knowing that perhaps in her fickleness, she had destroyed the one pure thing still left to her. In a rage, the young woman destroyed every trace of her once-husband in her life. Letters and photos she had kept locked away in a chest, any small tokens he had given her when they still breathed in air and had felt the sunlight upon their faces. All of it dashed to the ground and fed to the fire. All except the necklace he had given her on that fateful day they had pledged their hearts and their lives to each other. Gisela knew she could never truly part with that small piece of him—not while love still ached in her heart for every moment he walked the earth. But London now grew too painful for the vampire, and so once again she set out on a trek, this time to Asia in the hopes of finding some new fancy to keep her mind occupied and away from a face she could not forget. She spanned the globe in her travels, wandering the trade routes, watching the world grow and expand with rapid speed. It was growing harder and harder for Gisela to survive this way, for a vampire cannot live on stories and art alone, and the blood that stained her mouth and hands could not be taken just for convicts any more. She needed a partner, needed someone to protect and that could protect her. Solitude continued to be bane for Gisela, and after London, none of her kind ever seemed to be much more of a comfort than any of the despicable humans she fed upon. None could compare to her husband, and he was lost to her forever. At least, that was what she had believed. All up until the moment seven years ago when she caught rumor of a powerful warlock who was in need of a guardian. Mere whispers of course, but stories had been Gisela’s trade for over a thousand years. She knew which to believe and which to disregard as nothing but air. In an instant she headed for the hovel she’d heard he’d been hanging out in with some bounty hunter werewolf that was chomping at the bit to leave. To the point that as soon as Gisela showed up at their door, the werewolf was already off, muttering something about Scotland Yard. Not that it really mattered much to Gisela. She’d taken one look at the warlock and known he’d be her one hope to ever find Brant again, even if he perhaps didn’t want her to find him. So Gisela laid her cards out on the table. If he wanted a thousand year old vampire who had managed to survive this long without getting themselves beheaded or staked watching his back, all he had to do was find her husband. Didn’t care how long it took him, she’d stay and guard him once he was found. But, if he couldn’t, or went back on his word… “I’ll have quite a bit of delight in tearing you asunder and drinking your delicious-smelling blood.” How could Gisela have predicted, though, that Brant would find his way to her on his own? Paired in the company of a promising young witch who had come to train with Kai and her small collection of protectors as well, of course, but still… The scraps that remained of her dead heart leapt at the sight of her husband, only to find that one of her greatest fears may have come true: he may not love her any more. Still she had made her promises to her charge, and so Gisela has remained in the employ of Mordekai Merlyn, as the heavy iron pendant of love still rested upon her chest. Now following her charge to the town of Oxford and the New World she had never deigned to explore, she could not help but admit to herself that only part of her continuing journey with the warlock was the bloodshed she was promised in the war that lay bubbling under the skin of the town. That instead part of it was the hope that with his help, perhaps she could regain the husband she had given up.

Holly Rivers
Holly Rivers || 23 years old || Witch || FC: Taylor Momsen
Traits
(+) Witty, Cunning, Independent (-) Untrustworthy, Promiscuous, Low Self-Worth
Personality
Holly has been called many things: lewd, flighty, strange, a loner. The list goes on, she’s heard them all. Holly has gone through too much in her life to let herself be affected by the gossip of strangers. She was taught at a young age not to listen to them, one of the very few lessons she learned from her mother. Holly spends a lot of time in the woods at the edge of town. She is alone there, and can practice her craft without worry. Holly also takes a lot of energy from nature, often bringing home crystals and plants or herbs. The small guest house she lives in is adorned with them, and she is always burning sage or lavender. Her home is a representation of how she truly is, not how the people see her. And though she may go to bed with many men, they never come to her home. Few people see Holly for who she truly is. A bookworm and a hard worker. But she gets in her own way, her own bad opinion of herself causing her to put up a front. The thief, the whore, the liar. That’s what she has been her whole life, and try as she might, she can’t fight her upbringing.
Biography
Holly was born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi. She never knew her father, him having run out before he even knew her mother was pregnant. She never even asked questions about him, Holly saw her mother for who she was and she never asked about her father because if she could run off too, she would. Holly’s mother was an addict. Raising her child in trap houses, cooking meth with her infant daughter on her knee. As a child Holly didn’t know any different. Didn’t know she was supposed to be in school until she asked why kids were being shipped around on large yellow busses. Her mother claimed she was homeschooling the child, out of fear a teacher would see the signs of drug use and neglect. A man who lived in the house would read to Holly, teaching her proper grammar and simple math using joints and lines of coke. As soon as Holly could read herself she read everything she could get her hands on. She would walk to the library when the nice man wasn’t there. She taught herself everything she knows. Once Holly got older, her mother started expecting her to “contribute to the family.” At first she tried to teach the preteen to cook meth, but Holly refused. She saw what it did and she never wanted this life. When her mother saw it was a lost cause, she tried to sell her daughter herself. She would offer a night with the beautiful teenager to anyone who came in to buy. It wasn’t long before a man accepted the offer and Holly was locked in a room with him, expected to “contribute.” She was scared, and when the man grabbed her something within her snapped. It was like a shock ran through her and into the mans hands, dropping her like she was on fire. Both of them confused as to what happened and Holly even more frightened than before, when he grabbed her again he dropped to the ground. Out like a light. Holly didn’t know what happened, what was within her. But she didn’t question it. If she could convince her mother she was contributing with these men without actually doing anything, she wasn’t about to raise questions. Every time a man came to call on her she would bring the same feeling back, knocking them out with a single touch. In the morning she would speak sweet words to them of how pleasant the night before was, leaving them confused but believing her. Holly continued this for years, until she was 17 years old. That was the year vampires came out. In most people it inflicted fear, but Holly only felt hope. Hope that if people were welcoming to vampires they would be to her as well. maybe she herself was some version of a vampire. But then a man in the house told everyone that he was also a vampire, the man who taught Holly. The only one who was kind to her. He explained how they were the perfect place to hide, for no one was suspicious that a user would sleep all day and only come out at night. She watched as he was killed by the junkies who lived there, by her mother. Their fear drove them to rise up and stake him. Holly was devastated, and knew she wasn’t safe. Immediately after this, she ran. Holly lived on the streets for a year, wandering from city to city finding anywhere she felt safe. Once the initial shock of vampires wore off, she found Oxford. A kind couple took pity on the girl, letting her live in their guest house. She made many promises of payment but had no skills, no schooling or experience. She tried the local library for it was all she knew, but they wouldn’t hire someone born in a trap house. Coming home one night in tears, Holly told the couple everything. Including the things she could do that she couldn’t understand. The man gave his wife a questioning look, she nodded to him, and he told Holly there are beings other than vampires and he was one of them. A werewolf. Shortly after this night he set Holly an interview at Twin Moon. The pack leader, Everett, took pity on her. Holly proved herself to be a hard worker, but she never forgot where she is from. She was never able to shake the feeling that she isn’t good enough because of her background. She quickly took to the comfort of men who came in the bar, lone wolves in town for only a night or two before moving on to reunite with their pack. Some men taught her to pickpocket and steal, and she quickly learned she made more tips if she was more revealing and flirtatious.

Brant Svansson
Anastasia "Anya" Mercerueau || Appears 25, but is 1,179 || Vampire || FC: Jessica Brown Findlay
Traits
(+) Willful, Erudite, Tender (-) Outspoken, Proud, Obstreperous
Personality
Anya is nothing if not amazingly well-versed with literature, a bizarre assortment of pop culture references, and history. While these might be questionable capacities, she is not just personable but intelligent. In fact, the girl has avowed one of her life goals as trying everything at least once – given her longevity, she thinks it’s not at all unreasonable. She has read an astonishing number of classics. This unabashed bookworm is dauntless and fun-loving. She is always up for laughter and is very good at making people smile, even if her broad sense of humor can go from dark and sarcastic to light and ridiculous in a confusing heartbeat. Generally speaking, she’s a happy and upbeat person who doesn’t seem to have a care in the world. Don’t take this for a moment take this at face value: there’s much more going on in that head of hers than it may seem. She’s extremely dutiful and certainly has a mind of her own. Anya is unrelentingly loyal towards and protective of her small, close-knit group of friends/family and she would never in a thousand years (literally) allow anything to happen to them, if she could prevent it. She is, afterall, courageous (often to the point of impetuosity) and she’s not afraid to fight for what she believes in. Lively, cheerful, and talkative, Anya is also extremely quirky. She has her mind made up about certain things, her opinions rather cemented when they have little right to be. True, she is very quick to laugh at anything – including herself – and she is a very enthusiastic kind of person (even about bizarrely morbid things, like mummification), but once she makes up her mind, she is quite convinced she is right. Anya can also be painfully blunt. She says what she thinks, for the most part, however ridiculous or inappropriate to a given situation. A smarter or kinder young girl you’d be hard-pressed to find. This young woman is about as compassionate, generous, and helpful as they come. She does her best to always be of use and is quite a busy little thing (“Idle hands are the devil’s playthings,” she’ll say with a mischievous glint in her eyes); nonetheless, she will always take time out of her hectic schedule to be there for someone. Nothing is more important than the people in her life. She will always see the good in people and encourage it and loves nothing more than to make those around her smile. She is always ready with a smile and just loves to see others do the same. Anya is a warm and loving person. Genuinely caring about people can hurt, but Anya is one to help people out, if she can. Though it is not always obvious from her vivacious antics, Anya knows what it’s like to be hurt and one thing she cannot stand is to see others hurt. Anya is a stubborn person, she is proud, and these are two traits that do not often go well hand-in-hand. When her dander is up, she has quite the temper and this has been known to put her in quite the pickle. When she’s angry, she can be quite judgmental, which never ends well. Seeing things mostly in black and white isn’t especially helpful, either. Anya might mean well, but sometimes all these weaknesses get the better of her, forcing her to be rash, jump to conclusions and, ultimately, to hurt people in ways she inevitably regrets. Sometimes, just meaning well just isn’t enough. Anya’s temper is as scalding as it is sudden. Spoiled her entire life and abruptly denied everything after it, she has become a coiling cobra, ready to lash out in self-defense at the most unexpected impetus. In fact, she may be a little overzealous – she never did learn discipline. A reactive person, she was always impetuous and when an idea occurs to her, she acts, consequences be damned. What she wants, she wants; what she hates, she hates and she often has trouble admitting she’s wrong. Anya is, afterall, literally a princess. Deep down, however, she’s still the tender person she always was: her walls are simply much higher and much thicker. She’s much too accustomed to loss and rejection, by now, to be completely open and a part of her is always on the ready to pick up and run or turn and fight because her long life has taught her that everybody dies – even the old ones – and sooner or later everyone will turn on her. The only thing she hasn’t yet cut out of her heart is her family, but they don’t even know her. Though she can be stubborn, she is also quite compassionate and can err on the side of sensitive. She is, however, unwilling to back down from her principles and will stick to her guns if the occasion calls for it. Despite this, she does believe in second chances, for the most part. There is, however, one line that is unforgivable if crossed: if someone ever hurt her loved ones, Anya will destroy them in whatever way her anger sees best. She never forget it and she will make sure the perpetrator won’t, either; certainly the perpetrator will never be allowed within ten miles of her loved ones, again, if she can help it. When actually incited to anger, the usually kind and sensible girl can be rash and incredibly blunt. At that point, she will let you know exactly what she thinks of you and, unfortunately, sometimes even blurt out things she later wishes she could take back. Nonetheless, she is capable of admitting when she’s wrong (if with some degree of difficult)…but on the other hand, even if she regrets saying it out loud, if she believes she was right she will never take it back because, well, that would be dishonest. Unfortunately, she hasn’t quite mastered the art of the little white lie. Anya does, afterall, tend to see things in black and white and doesn’t always see the shades of grey that border in between. On another level, however, she’s open – even if she’s ready to bolt at any moment. She is all heat and always was. She never had it in her to be cold and so, when she fights, she gives it her all. Anya pours everything she is into everything she does, fighting to seize each moment. She believes in people, however, in her own way. Both an excellent listener and happy to help those around her, Anya genuinely wants to do the right thing – she just doesn’t always know what that is. It isn’t hard to find her, either. Just check your local library or the nearest quiet corner and you’ll find her curled up with her latest book or trailing thoughtfully through the nearest museum (when she was in England, she had the odd, uncomfortable habit of showing up to weep at the Mercian and Viking exhibitions). Her habits have not only given her excellent study habits, but have ensured that she is very knowledgeable on a rather vast range of subjects. She has great problem-solving skills and is good at not only finding some agreeable compromise for everyone involved, but also at extrapolating a lot from a little. A thousand years experience will do that for a girl. She’s quick to volunteer to help and she’s always happy to do. Anya has been drawing since she was a child but, unlike most children, she never stopped. Drawing and painting are amongst her greatest passions and, if her life had been only slightly different, Anya might have been an artist. As it is, she’s immortal and signing work or appearing anywhere becomes a tricky state of affairs to maintain. Anonymity is a vampire’s best friend. Painting is one of the best ways of expelling her pent-up demons, of giving herself some rest and allowing the pacific world to flow through and around her in all its beauty and goodness. She fears a day when she might be deprived of her painting, when she can see only the bleak world around her and tremble, wishing for someone’s comforting arms around her – but she can’t even have that. Gifted with a memory like a steel trap and an active, curious brain, Anya has certainly gotten herself into no end of trouble. She has also garnered a great deal of knowledge in the field of her greatest passion, history – not only because she’s lived through the past thousand years of it or because, given that, she had access to knowledge of even her past now lost, but because she has had the singlemindedness (and time) to pursue it. She is able to read and write hieroglyphs as well as Arabic, French, Italian, Latin, Greek and several other languages. Having devoured history since she was a small child, her brain is overflowing with knowledge on the subject. She also has several cartouches and passages, research, as well as others, committed to memory, making her encyclopedic when it comes to her field of interest. Anya was always a vibrant and upbeat soul. Affectionate and kind-hearted, if terribly eccentric and a mite flippant and flamboyant, one thing Anya always is and was is lively. Though her behavior might come off as irritating and erratic to some, she can be viewed as charming and individual to others. Exceedingly intelligent and observant, she tends to be rather intuitive and creative but suffers from the same inconsistencies and abruptness that characterize many artists. She tends to be sudden, rarely ever planning ahead, and her entire existence tends to be one long ride by the seat of her pants. Nonetheless, she has always managed to see to it that everything works out and her laughter and optimism – secretly, a sword and a shield in her hand – can be infectious. Anya is a true Leo and there is never any doubt as to when she’s in the room, given her vivacious personality and extroverted tendencies. Very cheery and out-going, she’s always loved people and likes little more than making them smile. Anya has always been reckless and she learned the importance of picking up and letting go rather early – as a result she’s often a little too ready to do so. She doesn’t see her impact on others and often inadvertently hurts people and puts herself in bad positions thanks to her own variable state of mind. She tends to leap from thing to thing and has trouble settling down to just one idea or person or interest. This tends to breed discontent and impatience in her heart, which, if she’s not careful, can go sour, especially given how tightly she bottles things up inside. She needs to learn her place in the world and just how she really does impact people before she can really grow and change into a better, more stable woman. The truth is, she may be brave but one can’t be so without first being afraid – and that she most certainly is. She’s afraid to loose, afraid she’ll fail, afraid she’ll die before she finds what’s left of her family, afraid no one will ever remember the ones she loved and lost, and most of all, afraid to loose again.
Biography
Born in the Year of Our Lord 811 to King Coenwulf of Mercia and his queen, Aelfthryth, Anya was their third and last child. Her elder brother is widely regarded as a saint and her sister became a deposed Abbess, but history does not remember Anya. She took care that it should not. Though only a backwater nation, Anya grew up with all the privileges of her rank – and all the duties. As a younger daughter, however, she was not as often looked to as her siblings and, in many ways, was spoiled. She had her father wrapped around her little finger and knew just how to get whatever she wanted. Despite this, however, her heart was pure. Anya always had a way of perceiving things about people and, rarely mistreated, her heart was gentle however much she sometimes wished to appear more worldly wise. Despite these things, she also had a stubborn streak and quite wanted to be active, to do things, to have her way. She rarely intentionally stomped on others, however, very much wanting to see everyone succeed. In 834, Coenwulf promised his eldest daughter, Quendryda, to the Church, and betrothed his youngest daughter, Anya, to one of the leading men of his realm, Aelfhere. Anya was told what a great honor she had been given in the form of this man, but she could not bring herself to care much for him. Nonetheless, it was her father’s wish: to see to that she was cared for, after his death, and Anya did her best to resign herself to it…until she met a man named Raylan, two years later. Raylan was the least suitable kind of man for a princess, but that did nothing to sway her. A Viking taken during a raid of Mercia, Raylan was doomed to die. While awaiting that day, Anya happened upon him by accident. He spoke to her of distant lands, of different ways. He treated her with honesty and said what he thought. Anya had never met anyone quite like him and fell under his charm quickly. So quickly, that she realized she could not allow him to die. She spent the week convincing her father to spare him. This, he eventually did, but Coenwulf would not permit Raylan to stay more than one day after his release, before being escorted to the shore and put on a ship set for his homeland. It was enough, and by the time Raylan left, Anya was unknowingly pregnant with twin girls. Time passed. Anya learned of her delicate position – betrothed to one man while carrying the child (as she presumed) of another: an exiled barbarian, no less. The two lovers contrived to meet once or twice in secret, but it could not last. Time passed and Anya’s pregnancy became more and more obvious. Her father put out that the baby belonged to Anya’s fiancé, as it was quite common in those times for a betrothed couple to live together as it is now, and wishing to keep the king’s favor, Aelfhere did not object although he’d never once touched Anya. That same year, Anya’s father died. One of the strongest rulers of the area, his death sent shockwaves through the realm and spread the seeds of rebellion. Anya was the youngest of the royal brood, preceded by two older siblings. Her sister, Quendryda, was the eldest: capable, intelligent, and ambitious; followed by a much younger brother, Kenelm: humble, gentle, and compassionate. When her younger siblings had been born – a boy included – Quendryda had been supplanted of what she regarded as her rightful place as heir to the Mercian throne. When their father died, his men placed the heavy crown upon the brow of young Kenelm without a thought to Quendryda. Enraged, Quendryda called upon her lover, Askobert, who served in the new king’s household, to help her assassinate Kenelm. It would be the beginning of a grand coup in which Quendryda intended to wrest the crown from her brother’s cold, dead fingers, and place it upon her own brow. She knew, too, that if it were to work, foul play would be suspected and there were those who would rise up in Anya’s name, as a result. Quendryda realized that she needed to keep control of her sister, as well, and kill her if need be, as well. At Quendryda’s insistence, Askobert beheaded the young king. Then the bloody purge began, ending those closest to the king, such as Anya’s fiancé. Quendryda seized her sister and put her under guard, putting around that the pregnant princess had died in childbed. Indeed, very soon upon her imprisonment, she went into labor and was delivered of two beautiful girls. As soon as they were weaned, they were taken from her – dangerous because of their royal blood. Anya found herself locked up, waiting for nothing or death and coming uncomfortably close to feeling what Raylan might’ve known in a similar situation, though without anyone to intercede for her. Fortunately for the young mother, Quendryda’s bid for the throne was opposed and she was forced to withdraw back to the strong walls of her Abbey. Their uncle, Ceolwulf rode into the castle and reigned for only two years before he was overthrown. Going into the dungeons, he found his niece. He charged one of his most bloodthirsty knights with killing the girl. The knight was, unbeknownst to anyone, bloodthirsty for a reason: he was a vampire. He gave Anya a chalice of red, red wine – supplemented with his own blood – before stabbing her to death. Then he showed her body to her uncle before dumping it in a stream. Anya awoke miles from home, afraid and disoriented, but certain she must find her family. She stumbled about, throat burning in a flame unquenchable by any water or wine, until blind throbbing instinct overtook her and she found her bloodlust. She began to learn what she was by trial and error – discovering she couldn’t go into the sun or eat or drink anything but blood; yet she was unspeakably fast and unswervingly strong, every sense exponentially sharpened… Even in this nightly existence, she formed a plan. She would find a way to somehow cross the waters without ever seeing the sun. Then, she would find Raylan and, together, they would find their daughters. This plan was cut short when the news reached her that the man had died. Anya redoubled her efforts to find her babies, but the journey was thwarted by Anya’s own vampiric shortcomings as well as the fact that Mercia was plunged into chaos and civil war, following Anya’s uncle’s death. Still, she never gave up searching for her girls, despite the impediments. She found one of them. Alfiva, was her name. Her hair was spun gold, her eyes shone like sapphires. Knowing Quendryda and her plots as she did, Anya knew to which servant the deed of ridding the world of the babes would fall and, from there, how it had turned out. One child had been lost track of in the turmoil that came from Quendryda’s deposition, but the other was traceable. Alfiva had been given to or perhaps stolen away by a serving woman from Quendryda’s very nose and given to a shepherd who longed for a child. Alfiva was already a young woman by the time Anya finally discovered her, and appeared only about five years younger than Anya, herself. They became friends, ageless Anya desperately unable to tell the girl that she was her birth mother. Despite their friendship, Anya’s oddities were more than obvious to Alfiva – as well as the rest of the village. She only came out at night, she never ate or drank and, as time passed, she did not age. It did not take long for the whispers of ‘witch,’ heated the hamlet. One night, a group of the town’s bravest and boldest ambushed her. Anya was able to fight them off, given her new powers, and she was able to rescue Alfiva who had been dragged into the square to be burned by association. The two women fled into the woods together, but when morning came, Anya was forced to hide. When she emerged, Alfiva was gone – terrified. Anya let her go, realizing she had caused her more trouble than good, (though she continued to keep tabs on her from afar, to be sure she was safe). Anya never found her other daughter, but she managed not to become too bitter. Instead, she saw it as hopeful. If the child hadn’t been found, she may still be alive. Afterall, finding Alfiva had nearly resulted in the poor girl being burned alive. Perhaps it was better for them each, if Anya never set eyes upon her second daughter – heart reding as the idea was. Besides, not seeing her gave Anya a reason to go on. Each evening, she had a reason to rise and go about her life. As time passed in vast swaths, Anya embraced it. She watched the world change, invested herself in the intrigues of inventions. Her joie de vieresumed. She felt as if she were living for three: Raylan and her missing daughter, as well as herself. The world was vast and beautiful and fascinating. Anya read everything she could get her hands on, she tried every new thing that came her way. She chose to embrace the fact that she could not stay one place for too long – it was a chance to start over. Everyone and everything would be fresh. People were all the more fascinating for the fact that they were so short lived. They became precious. Yet, in some occasions, they found ways to make their names immortal even in death. Anya did her best to remember every life she ever took – at least then they’d live forever in her. Their vibrancy was exhilarating and they had to grab every opportunity they had, for all too soon it would all be over. Anya wanted to be that new, that real. When the Vampire Revelation swept the world and took it by storm, Anya chose to come out of the coffin. Now, she is coming to Oxford, chasing the thread she’s always chased. One of her daughter’s descendants once went this way and, thus, so will she…

Brant Svansson || Appears 23, but is 1210 || Vampire || FC: Bill Skarsgård
Traits
(+) Loyal, Playful, Straightforward (-) Cantankerous, Overprotective, Ruthless
Personality
Brant is exactly what you would expect of Kol Svansson's younger brother. While he didn't experience as much in his human life as Kol did, you will still find the same tenacity in the younger Svansson. Brant is self-possessed and will do what it takes to make sure he lives a full and happy life. And while he isn't as bloodthirsty as his brother is, he also isn't the kind of guy you'd want to cuddle up to and spend a romantic evening with. Brant has the capability to be a good man, but very few see that, and even fewer get to actually experience the playful and loving man underneath the Viking exterior he keeps up. Those that he does care about, however, will never find a more loyal and protective man. It isn't easy to get into the heart of this twelve hundred year old, but once you do, he will defend you at cost of life and limb. That quality was something he never imagined would ever actually come in handy to him, until he met his current companions.
Biography
No one thought that Brant would live long. Born premature to the parents who'd only had one other son nine years previous and a long string of miscarried children, everyone was surprised he was born, let alone that he lived past a year old, and then every year after that. By the time Kol was old enough to go off to protect the village, Brant was just old enough to be able to take care of things around the house. All in all, considering his young age, Brant did well of stepping up as the man of the house once the elder men were out of the village. He even thought that he would be the first Svansson son to marry and have children. Mother and Father had pressed for Kol to do so, but he refused to give up being the leader of the army to settle down. So when the day came for Kol and the men to all return to town only for no one to show up that day or in the months after, they knew that something horrible had happened. And approximately three months after that day, the village was raided. Brant did his best to get his mother and the girl he'd been to take as a wife out of town, but it was to no avail, as he took a sword to the gut and began to bleed out. The last thing he remembered seeing was the screaming faces of his mother and betrothed. The next thing he remembers is waking up to complete darkness. He was buried; how was he alive? Clawing his way out of the earth with a strength he didn't know he had, Brant emerged into the moonlight to the company of his betrothed, Gisela. Terrified by the way that he could hear and smell every pulse of her blood, Brant initially withdrew from her. He was unsure of exactly what he was, but he was sure that he would hurt her if he wasn't careful. He listened hazily as she explained that a vampire had saved her, but had been too late to save his mother. Gisela had then begged the vampire to save Brant, and to Brant's luck, they agreed. But had refused to stay. Brant ran off after she'd told her story, going back through the woods until he got back to his village. There was nothing left. Everything had been burned to the ground, and (much to his shame) he went around and drained every dead body of whatever blood they hadn't already bled onto the ground. By the time he'd finished, Gisela had found her way back to the village and took a seat beside him on the ground. Despite the fact that they'd never said their vows, they decided that they were married in their own eyes, and that was what mattered. The next night, despite being only one day old as a vampire, he followed Gisela's description of what had been done to him, and he turned her. the next night, they emerged and began what they thought would be eternity together. The power of being a vampire quickly went to both of their heads and they ended up parting ways. He never thought he would see her again. And for a long, long time... He didn't. He lived his life. He murdered some people, learned better control, and then... about five years ago, he met and fell absolutely in puppy love with a curly headed blonde witch. It only took seconds upon meeting her for Brant to know he'd follow her to the ends of the earth. It didn't hurt that she had a pretty brunette vampire companion. From that point on, Brant was glued to Val. It would just so happen that being glued to Val would lead them to meet Kai Merlyn, who Gisela was being a guardian for. Brant had no idea just how much he'd be seeing of his former "wife". Especially after going to Oxford with Val, only to find that Kai and his vampire companion would show up only two months after they'd arrived in town.

Ezio De Luca || Appears 22, but is 643 || Vampire || FC: Douglas Booth
Traits
(+) Determined, Flirtatious, Noble (-) Impulsive, Mischievous, Quiet
Personality
It’s safe to say that Ezio has remained true to himself despite having been alive for six long centuries now. He’s still an optimist, a huge flirt, and eager for the next adventure. Thankfully time (and dealing with Bertenelli’s) have helped make him wiser. He’s more cautious and does his best to think about the outcome of actions before fully devoting to them. But when Ezio sets his sights on something he wont stop until he’s achieved his goal. He’s quiet by nature but that’s simply because he’s more an observer than anything; not to mention it’s hard to get a word in when dealing with a pack of werewolves. Overall Ezio is kind to those he loves and weary of those he doesn’t. While he prefers to talk matters out rather than solve problems with violence, when push comes to shove Ezio will do what he must to protect his loved ones.
Biography
Born in the outskirts of Italy during the Middle ages, Ezio didn’t live the most privileged life growing up. Despite the fact that his father was a blacksmith, the De Luca family was considered just another family of peasants - thankfully, that didn’t Ezio from enjoying his life. Full of life an energy, Ezio would often find joy in the little things, in particular causing mischief with his friends. It wasn’t until he was fourteen and began working with his father that the eldest of the De Luca children was forced to settle down. It worked for about a year until he befriended Selene Auditore da Firenze, a newcomer to the small town. Drawn to his energy and love for mischief, Selene and Ezio became fast friends. Physically she didn’t look much older than him - but in reality Selene was centuries older. The vampire had no trouble being honest with Ezio as long as he didn’t tell her secret, which he managed to keep for the next eight years. Over the coarse of the time the pair remained inseparable and even more impressively, just friends. It wasn’t until the vampire saved his life did Ezio realize he might have harbored feelings for his friend. Unfortunately, there never came a right time to admit such a thing. Ezio, his mother and two sisters were killed during the infamous Black Death. Being the last of the four to fall ill, Selene was able to save Ezios life by turning him. Shortly after this the pair fled from Italy and would spend the next few centuries traveling all over Europe. Eventually, Ezio and his maker parted ways but not before vowing to see one another again. The vampire then decided to return to Italy, not having been since he was turned. What was supposed to be a peaceful chapter in his life turned into a nightmare after meeting the Bertenelli family. It started when Ezio accidentally feel head over heels for the youngest of six children, Sofia Bertenelli. The Bertenelli’s were a rich and powerful family at the time and even harbored a secret making them all the more powerful: they were werewolves. Unfortunately this wasn’t enough for Ezio to keep his distance from Sofia; for the next three years the pair saw each other in secret, even after Sofia married. When her death came unexpectedly during childbirth, Ezio still wasn’t able to leave the Bertenelli’s side. Since Sofia’s death, Ezio has become an unofficial guardian angel to the Bertenelli family. He’s managed to keep his distance from them (occasionally having befriended one or two along the way) all while keeping them out of serious trouble. And boy, are they trouble. Recently Ezio was forced to make his presence known after stepping in and saving Zita’s life. Since then, the vampire hasn’t really left her side…unfortunately, that means returning to Oxford with her.

Sebastian "Bash" LaCroix || 28 years old || Human || FC: Michael B. Jordan
Traits
(+) Intelligent, Humorous, Protective (-) Hot-Headed, Resentful, Stubborn
Personality
Bash could be described at the ideal first child: he’s responsible, protective, loving and empathetic. He has a tendency to put others needs before his own and will do so without a second thought. At the same time Bash isn’t one to be walked all over; he has no problem putting people in their place whether he has to do so verbally or physically. Personally, he prefers to handle matters with a good old fashion prank. While he may seem like a responsible adult Bash certainly doesn’t have his shit together. His love for a good time mixed with the terrible people he’s chosen to befriend often puts him in the most absurd situations. Thankfully for his friends, Bash is the self proclaimed brains of the operation and is usually the one everyone depends on to bail them out of trouble…which he does, but not before making matters worse first.
Biography
Sebastian was the first born child of newly married couple Marcus LaCroix, a police officer, and Kayla, an elementary school teacher. Growing up in quiet Mandeville, Louisiana, the LaCroix family lived a rather nice life aside from the fact that Marcus was never around. Bash (as he was eventually nicknamed by his younger sisters) can safely say that he doesn’t really remember his father being a constant presence in his life, in fact, it only got worse the older the LaCroix children got. Aside from his rocky relationship with his father Bash grew up to be a pretty good kid. It probably had something to do with the fact that he was good at covering his tracks when he’d get into trouble. A star athlete and excellent student, Bash practically had the opportunity to attend any college he wanted when the time finally came. As much as he loved his family, Bash used college as his chance to put some distance between himself and home. He spent part of the summer before college in Oxford, Mississippi in attempt to get get familiarized with what would be his home for the next four or more years. It was during that time that he would meet his best friend and future roommate- it was love at first selfie. The next four years of Bashs’ life went by quickly as he balanced schoolwork and football with an active social life while still calling home every week to make sure Sonia and Shea had done their homework. Having been away from his family for four years, Bash was reunited with the others during a family “vacation” courtesy of Shea finally graduating high school. Truthfully, Bash and Sonia (who had followed in his footsteps and left home) had been hesitant to return home but did so only for their baby sisters sake. Things had actually been going pretty well until the accident happened. To this day the events of that night are still a blur to Bash; all he remembers is being at the bar one moment and waking up to a gorgeous blonde beside his hospital bed. He didn’t know how but Valencia Bellefry had managed to save his life using magic. Bash refused to return home with Shea and their father after that. How could he after the loss of their mother and Sonia? So instead of fully recovering in the comfort of his own home and with his family, Bash followed Val and her ‘companions’ to Europe where they would spend the next couple of years. During this time Bash did whatever he could to aid his savior, in particular by finding ways to help improve her magic while helping keep Nora and Kai from killing one another. Times would get rough but Bash wouldn’t trade his new dysfunctional family for anything in the world. A witch, a warlock, two vampires and a werewolf later, Bash and the group have been settled in Oxford for a few months now. The news of an impending war has Bash on edge, especially when both of his families find themselves right in the middle of it.
